Chapter 201: Chapter 128: You Just Have to Wait on the Side

As the order was given, the crossbow cannons on the outer wall immediately clanked to life.

Amidst deafening sonic booms, bolts from the Rune Crossbow Cannons, each four to five meters long and as thick as a bucket, shot out. They flew like cannonballs toward the Oak Guardians over two hundred meters away.

BOOM! BOOM!

The Oak Guardians were enormous and conspicuous targets, making them easy to hit without much aiming.

Over thirty giant bolts found their mark; not a single one missed.

Ghastly craters immediately exploded open on the Oak Guardians’ bodies.

However, the behemoths paid them no mind. They shook their branches to pull out the giant bolts and continued their slow advance toward the city wall.

With every step forward, the wounds left by the giant bolts healed a little more.

It was clear that the wounds would be completely healed in two or three minutes at most.

Seeing this, the burly man’s brow furrowed.

His adjutant beside him whispered, "Sir, the Oak Guardians are tough creatures with thick hides. The Rune Crossbow Cannons aren’t very effective against them. We should wait for the Priests to arrive and let them handle it. We just need to defend the wall and make sure those Wizards don’t get an opening."

The burly man frowned in thought for a few seconds before quickly accepting the suggestion.

’In any case, with the Defense Array’s Defense Power, holding out until the Priests arrive will be no problem.’

’The strength of these dozen or so Oak Guardians isn’t enough to break through the defensive light barrier in a short amount of time.’

Without the interference of the crossbow cannons, the Oak Guardians soon reached the city wall. They raised their thick branches high, then slammed them down, striking the light barrier with a piercing whistle.

BOOM!

Amid the deafening roar, the light barrier merely trembled slightly before returning to normal.

Over five hundred meters away, Yan Dong and Fang Na watched this unfold, their brows furrowing in unison.

"The Oak Guardians have first-rate defense, but their offensive capabilities are relatively lacking. They’re fine against Turin Knights, but they’re a bit powerless against a large-scale Defense Array like this one."

Yan Dong turned to Pei Ze and urged him:

"Let’s attack together. If we drag this out any longer and those Priests finish their ritual and get here, this whole attack will have been for nothing."

But in response to his suggestion, Pei Ze simply shook his head. "No need."

Seeing Pei Ze remain so stubborn, Yan Dong couldn’t help but sigh inwardly.

’At this rate, the attack is probably going to end in failure.’

’Forget it. We already know the person is being held here. Worst case, we’ll go back for reinforcements and return tonight to rescue them.’

Just as Yan Dong made up his mind, he caught a glimpse of Pei Ze making a move out of the corner of his eye.

A mass of silver liquid metal detached from his wrist, floated in the air, and rapidly expanded into a giant spear twenty to thirty meters long.

Immediately after, eight Flame Runes, filled with scorching intent, materialized out of thin air and swiftly merged into the spear.

In an instant, the spear turned from silver to a blinding, deep red.

A scorching aura billowed out, and the air temperature instantly spiked by dozens of degrees.

Silver Star + Flame Rune + Power of Fire Element!

This combination was Pei Ze’s strongest attack, aside from fusing his Burning Magic Tattoo with Silver Star.

The moment he unleashed it, the terrifying pressure immediately stunned Yan Dong and Fang Na.

Looking at the deep red spear, even though the surrounding air was scorching hot, a chill shot up their spines, making their scalps tingle.

They could clearly sense the terrifying energy contained within that spear!

The next instant, before their stunned gazes, the spear shot out, streaking like a burning meteor toward the defensive light barrier over five hundred meters away!

BOOM!

A thunderous roar erupted. The distant defensive light barrier looked as if it had been struck by a massive hammer, twisting and fluctuating violently, shuddering in place.

The next second, to the horror of both friend and foe, the defensive light barrier shattered with a deafening crash, dissolving into countless motes of light that vanished into the air.
