Chapter 120: Chapter 104: Double Rewards? Welcome to the Team
This was precisely what Beixila was most worried about.
The character of randomly recruited people—never mind their strength—was concerning enough.
Safety was one thing, but the main concern was running into unsavory characters. With Feney’s naive personality, she could easily be deceived and exploited.
Besides, Feney’s background was vastly different from most Adventurers. Whether her worldview and experience would allow her to get along with them was another one of her mother’s headaches.
She was, after all, the Lord of Silver Stream City. With so many official matters to attend to, she couldn’t possibly keep an eye on these things all the time.
Flora, at her side, seemed to understand why she had suddenly brought up the matter of an Adventurer Squad.
"Lady Ravel, you mean—"
Beixila said, "If those Adventurers have no objections, I’d like to ask them to look after Feney in my stead. And you just mentioned concerns about that Lin Mo’s safety..."
Flora instantly understood.
If they teamed up, both problems would be solved at once.
"I’ll go ask them tomorrow, then. I’ll contact you as soon as I have news."
"You can bring Feney with you. It would be a good chance for them to meet."
"Alright."
...
「The next day.」
As usual, Lin Mo slept in, not getting out of bed until nearly eight o’clock.
After coming downstairs for breakfast, he was just about to head to the Association when he noticed a sneaky figure staring at him from behind.
Lin Mo turned around and said with a sigh of resignation, "Come on out, Ali. I’ll take you with me."
"Really?"
Ali instantly zipped in front of him, her face alight with surprise.
"Are we going on an adventure so early?"
The inn’s main door swung open, and a familiar voice drifted in. "Hold on a moment. I’d like you to meet a friend."
Flora spoke as she waved to someone outside the door. "Come on in, Feney."
’A friend?’
Lin Mo looked toward the door curiously. A young woman stood there, nervously fidgeting with the hem of her clothes before taking a deep breath and stepping inside.
She wore the standard blue and white habit of a Church Nun, complete with a round cap. Her beautiful blonde hair was impeccably styled, tied with a ribbon on the right side. Her light purple eyes brimmed with a mixture of nervousness and curiosity.
Her posture, however, was perfectly graceful. She walked up to them at a measured pace, gave a slight bow, and said, "Hello. I’m Feney, and I’d like to join your Adventurer Squad..."
Lin Mo shot Flora a questioning look.
’Where in the world did she find such a cute girl?’
Flora rolled her eyes at him. "Let’s go meet up with Alton and the others first. We’ll talk then."
A moment later, in a private room at a High Level hotel in Silver Stream City, Alton, along with the squad’s other three members—Rick, Solan, and Carson—stared dumbfoundedly at Feney.
"Let me introduce you. This is Feney, daughter of the Lord of Silver Stream City."
Flora’s first sentence hit them like a thunderclap, causing them all to jump to their feet.
"The Lord’s daughter?!"
The first person who came to Alton’s mind was the daughter of Lania City’s Lord—the infamous Yunice Lawrence.
But just as the Lord of Silver Stream City was nothing like the harsh and cruel Viscount Lawrence, her daughter was clearly the polar opposite of the arrogant and domineering Miss Unis.
If it weren’t for the elegant, noble aura she couldn’t quite conceal, one might mistake her for a sweet, approachable girl-next-door.
"As for why I gathered you all here... I’ll let her tell you herself."
Flora said, giving Feney an encouraging look.
Feney nodded. Seemingly over her initial nervousness, she spoke calmly, "Hello, Mr. Alton, and everyone else. I am Feney, and I would like to join your Adventurer Squad."
’The Lord’s daughter... wants to join our squad?’
Alton felt like he must still be dreaming. He shot a pleading look at Flora.
"So, that’s the gist of it," Flora explained. "Feney wants to experience the life of an Adventurer, so Lady Ravel—the Lord of Silver Stream City—would like to commission you to look after her daughter. Of course, there will be extra compensation."
"No problem!"
Upon hearing that last part, Lin Mo immediately accepted on the captain’s behalf. "How much?" he followed up.
’I’m so broke right now!’
Flora, of course, knew why he was so excited—it was because of the grand promises she’d made him earlier. She couldn’t help but grin. "How does double sound? For every quest you accept and complete through the Adventurer’s Association, you’ll receive an identical reward on top of what the Association pays."
Lady Ravel hadn’t specified the exact compensation, but a bonus like this was something she or even Feney herself could easily afford without any financial strain.
"Alright then..."
The team’s heavy hitter had spoken, so Alton saw no reason to refuse. Besides, he had just arrived in Silver Stream City and had spent a good chunk of his savings getting his family settled. He really did need the money.
"That’s wonderful! Thank you so much!"
Feney clenched her fists in excitement. "So, when do we start our adventure?"
"How about tomorrow?"
Alton considered it. He’d originally planned to rest for a few more days, but for a sweet deal with double rewards, starting work a little early was perfectly fine.
"No problem!"
...
After chatting for a little while longer, the group dispersed. Feney headed to the Church to explain the situation to the local Bishop.
The Church didn’t impose strict rules on Ordinary Nuns, let alone someone of Feney’s special status. Naturally, they wouldn’t stand in the way of her wishes.
Lin Mo and Flora went to the teahouse next door to speak privately.
