Chapter 49: Prime

"Oooh, my friend, there’s no need for such accusations. It’s obvious you’re new here, so I’ll give you a good offer. Information... in exchange for a fair price."

After hearing his words, Rios sneered inwardly. The ridicule in his eyes didn’t escape the fox man’s notice, yet he continued smiling as if he couldn’t care less.

"What I want is general information. Does that cost anything?"

"It seems you know nothing about this place, my friend, but I’ll be kind enough to teach you. Everything here is sold for a price, even the smallest piece of information. Don’t expect anyone to be kind enough to tell you anything for free. The entire Eternal Night Heaven is right in front of you. If you find anyone selling information cheaper than I do, I’ll gladly be your guide for the entire day—for free." The fox man smiled, clearly mocking Rios’s ignorance.

Ignoring the fox’s mockery, Rios thought for a moment before asking, "How much does information cost?"

"The price varies depending on the information, but generally speaking, I sell every three pieces of information for just one Prime."

The fox man tilted his head to the side, closed one eye, and raised three fingers.

Rios looked at him with confusion written all over his face.

"What is this... Prime?"

The fox man’s expression remained unchanged for a brief moment after hearing the question, but once he fully grasped what Rios had asked, his face turned serious, and a trace of anger appeared.

"Are you making fun of me? If you don’t want to buy information, then get lost."

Rios was caught off guard by the fox man’s angry reaction and frowned.

"Why would I make fun of you, you half-dog? Do I even know you? Or are you some clown I don’t know about?"

"So what if I don’t know what this thing you call Prime is? Does every single person in this universe have to know it or what?" Rios replied sharply, clearly displeased by the fox man’s attitude.

"Did you just call me half-dog?" The fox man gritted his teeth and pointed at his own face angrily.

"Do you see anyone else I’m talking to?" Rios raised an eyebrow in annoyance.

"Shit... did I end up with an idiot from some isolated planet or something?" the fox man thought to himself. After realizing something, he decided to ignore Rios’s tone.

"Wait a second. If you don’t even know what Prime is, then how did you get into this place?" the fox asked suspiciously.

"That’s none of your business. Are you selling information, or investigating people?" Rios stared at the fox while thinking to himself.

"It seems this Prime is some kind of universal currency or something."

"The system didn’t just hide my true identity—it also saved me from having to use this Prime that I don’t even possess."

"Fine, fine. If you don’t have any Prime, then give me two thousand points." The fox man waved his hand as though he had just offered Rios the greatest deal in the world.

Rios looked at him in confusion.

"What are points?"

Upon hearing that answer, the fox man hesitated for a moment before slapping his own forehead.

"Shit... I really did end up with an idiot from some isolated planet. If he doesn’t even know what Prime is, why would he know what points are?"

"Hey, my friend, do you have any monster cores?" the fox asked one final question before deciding to completely give up.

Rios looked at him with a puzzled expression, seemingly having no idea what the fox man was talking about.

"Shit, don’t tell me you don’t even know what monster cores are?" Veins bulged on the fox man’s forehead as he glared at Rios and shouted, "Where the hell did you come from?"

"Alright, calm down. There’s no need to get so angry. Of course I know what monster cores are. Do you take me for a caveman or something?" Rios frowned and waved his hand.

"I don’t take you for a caveman. I’m certain you’re even worse than one." The fox man openly sneered.

"Fine. Since you have monster cores, then you can give me one thousand Level 1 monster cores, or one hundred Level 2 ones, or ten Level 3 ones."

The smile returned to the fox man’s face as he extended his hand toward Rios.

"And that’s not my personal price. That’s the standard rate. Feel free to ask anyone around if you don’t believe me."

After hearing the offer, Rios looked at him suspiciously.

"What do you mean by the standard rate?"

"I mean that a Level 1 core is worth one point regardless of the monster’s bloodline or how advanced it was. A Level 2 core is worth ten points, and a Level 3 core is worth one hundred points. Consider that free information—a gesture of goodwill."

The fox man’s hand remained stretched out before Rios, making it clear there would be no more free information.

Rios narrowed his eyes slightly before reaching into the System Storage and taking out one thousand Level 1 monster cores, handing them to the fox man.

Before entering the Eternal Night Heaven, Rios had already asked the system how he was supposed to bring in the items he wanted to sell and retrieve the ones he purchased from this world.

The system’s answer had been simple.

The System Storage would serve as the intermediary. free𝑤ebnovel.com

The fox man accepted the monster cores with a smile, waved his hand, and they instantly disappeared.

"Now, you may ask me three questions."

Rios frowned. After thinking for a moment, he asked,

"What is Prime, and what are points?"

"Those are two questions, my friend, not one." The fox smiled slyly, as though his prey had finally fallen into the trap.

When Rios heard that response, he gritted his teeth, and veins bulged on his forehead.

"Shit... I knew this bastard was a hunter."

In the end, however, he let out a sigh.

"Fine. Anyway, I agree."
