Chapter 480: Chapter 473: Since You Like Her, Mom Has No Choice

Clara was about to sit down, but she quickly stood up again when she heard that. Turning to Sienna Hale, she said, "Thank you... Mrs. Quinn."

Sienna Hale didn’t look at her. She just pursed her lips and let out a soft snort through her nose by way of acknowledgment.

Clara sat down and exchanged a look with Seth Quinn, a faint smile in both their eyes.

After Clara sat down, no one spoke. Clara focused on feeding him, and Seth focused on drinking the soup. Sienna Hale sat by, her face expressionless, but seeing her son enjoying the soup so much brought her a great sense of comfort.

Her gaze drifted to Clara. ’Honestly, if it weren’t for her family background, with her looks and disposition, she wouldn’t be a bad fit for the title of the Quinn family’s young mistress.’

’But the Quinn family is a prominent one, and every little thing we do is scrutinized. And which one of those high-society ladies doesn’t love to gossip and spread rumors? I’m just afraid that with a daughter-in-law like her, people will whisper and point fingers at our family. How could I ever show my face in public then?’

’Otherwise, I wouldn’t be so against her.’

’But what can I do? Even if I disapprove of her, it’s no match for how much Seth likes her. Even my husband and younger son say they don’t care about Clara’s background. They’re all on her side.’

’If I keep insisting on my opposition, will all three of them—father and sons—turn against me?’

While Sienna Hale was lost in thought, Clara had already finished feeding the bowl of soup to Seth. Mrs. Cheney quickly served some rice and other dishes and brought them to Clara, so she could continue feeding Seth.

Clara smiled and said, "Thank you, Mrs. Cheney," as she took the food. She then fed Seth a bowl of rice before he finally said he was full.

Sienna Hale felt much more relieved seeing that he had a good appetite.

Seeing Clara get up with the bowl, as if intending to wash it, Sienna Hale cleared her throat and said, "Mrs. Cheney made enough for two. Wouldn’t it be a waste if you don’t eat the rest?"

Clara froze again, staring at Sienna Hale without a word.

Mrs. Cheney quickly chimed in, "That’s right, Young Madam. It must have been tiring for you to take care of the Young Master. The Madam asked me to make two portions of everything, so there’s a share for you. You should go and eat."

Clara snapped out of it, feeling a bit silly for constantly spacing out today. Embarrassed, she quickly nodded and said to Sienna Hale, "Thank you, Mrs. Quinn... In that case, I’ll eat in the other room. You can stay and keep Seth company."

Sienna Hale gave an almost imperceptible nod and murmured her assent.

Clara picked up the food thermos and left the private room of the suite, heading into the outer sitting area.

Sienna Hale watched her back disappear beyond the doorway. Only after the door closed again did she turn her gaze back to Seth Quinn.

She still sounded a bit unconvinced as she said, "Look at her, looking so dazed all the time. I really don’t know what you see in her..."

Before she could finish, she saw Seth’s expression starting to change and quickly stopped herself, changing her tune. "But, since you like her, there’s nothing Mom can do... even though I still think she can’t compare to Autumn in any way."

Seeing how conflicted she was, Seth felt both exasperated and amused.

Sienna Hale suddenly remembered something and asked, "Speaking of Autumn, your father asked you to look into her treatment in the U.S.A. Have you found anything out yet?"

Seth Quinn shook his head. "I’m still looking into it, but I should have some answers in the next day or two."

Sienna Hale nodded and sighed. "Actually, Autumn is also quite piti..."

Before she could even finish the word, Seth cut her off. "Mom, you need to remember that those who are pitiful often have their own hateful qualities."

He paused, then looked at his mother and asked tentatively, "Mom, have you sent any messages to Clara recently?"
