Chapter 479: Chapter 472: Why Are You Still Standing There Foolishly?

Seth Quinn glanced at Mrs. Cheney behind her and said, "Mom, you could have just had the driver bring Mrs. Cheney over. You didn’t need to come yourself."

Hearing this, Sienna Hale thought he didn’t want her there. She frowned, displeased, and said, "What? Are you saying you don’t want me here?"

Seth Quinn looked exasperated. "That’s not what I meant."

Mrs. Cheney, who was setting the food thermos she was carrying onto the nightstand, saw what was happening and quickly chimed in. "Ma’am, how could the Young Master possibly mean that? He’s just worried about you, afraid you’ll tire yourself out."

She then turned to Seth Quinn. "I told Ma’am not to come, but she was worried about you and insisted. They say a child is a piece of a mother’s heart. What mother doesn’t dote on her own son? Don’t you agree, Young Master?"

Seth Quinn remained silent. Sienna Hale glanced at him, hesitated for a moment, then spoke, a bit stiffly. "At the end of the day, you’re my own flesh and blood. Everything I do... it’s all for your own good. If... you don’t like it, I just won’t say the kinds of things I said yesterday again."

Clara Grant, having just gotten some water, was walking out of the bathroom when she happened to overhear Sienna Hale’s words. She paused in surprise. ’Sienna was so furious when she left yesterday. I thought she’d stay mad for at least a few days.’ She never expected her to come back to see Seth Quinn after only one night, and now she was even yielding to him.

But a moment later, she understood. ’After all, a mother’s love is the greatest love in the world. A mother and son don’t hold grudges overnight. No mother can stay truly angry with her child. Even when they argue, it’s always the mother who gives in first, isn’t it?’

Clara Grant was happy. After all, she didn’t want to be the cause of a conflict between them.

Afraid that Sienna Hale would be upset to see her, Clara Grant didn’t step forward, instead standing respectfully at a distance.

Seth Quinn also seemed surprised by his mother’s words. He stared blankly for a moment before calling out, "Mom," but he said nothing more.

Sienna Hale glanced at him but didn’t say anything more. She turned to Mrs. Cheney and instructed, "Mrs. Cheney, go ahead and serve the soup so the Young Master can have it while it’s hot."

Mrs. Cheney acknowledged the order and brought over a freshly ladled bowl of soup.

Sienna Hale was about to take the bowl, but she caught sight of Clara Grant standing not far away. After a moment’s thought, she drew her hand back. She cleared her throat with a couple of coughs and said in a strained voice, "Why are you still standing there in a daze?"

Clara Grant froze, seemingly not understanding what she meant.

Seeing her blank expression, Sienna Hale sighed and added, "Didn’t you say you were going to take good care of Seth? So come over here and feed him his soup."

Clara Grant stood frozen for another two seconds before it clicked. She quickly agreed and hurried over.

She took the soup bowl from Mrs. Cheney’s hands and was about to crouch down to feed Seth Quinn his soup.

Sienna Hale then instructed Mrs. Cheney, "Mrs. Cheney, bring a chair over for the Young Mistress."

Hearing her madam’s words, Mrs. Cheney’s face lit up. She quickly complied, fetching a chair and placing it behind Clara Grant. "Young Mistress, please sit."

’Not only did the Madam have the Young Mistress serve the Young Master his soup, she even acknowledged her title out loud. This means she’s accepted her!’

’I knew it,’ she thought. ’The Madam was just being stubborn. She’s not so foolish that she’d cast aside such a wonderful daughter-in-law for that Autumn Shelby.’

Seth Quinn was also stunned for a moment by Sienna Hale’s words. A fleeting smile touched the corners of his lips as he looked at her and said, "Thanks, Mom."

Sienna Hale feigned indifference. "What are you thanking me for? It’s not like the chair is for you."
