Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Be Around

On the thirtieth floor of the building, there was only one office, and that was the office of the CEO. Ivan led Edie, where Stuart was and opened the door to his office. Edie looked around. She didn’t see Stuart.

"Mrs. Yates, the CEO is in a meeting. Could you please wait here for a second."

Edie had no choice but to wait and then she walked into the office. Ivan still had some work to do, he left and closed the door behind him. The office appearance felt like Stuart’sStuart’s style. It was simple and yet elegant.

The room only had two colors, which were black and white. Everything, including the bookshelves, office desk, and supplies, looked concise. There was nothing redundant in the room. Wandering around in his office, Edie took a careful look at the decorations.

Suddenly, she noticed the files on his desk. Opening the file, she saw a picture. It looked quite familiar. She had seen it before. It was one of the images that were shown in the reports about Zoe Anna on Twitter.

Why did he have these pictures? She kept browsing through the file. She found several pages about Zoe and then a detailed public relations report.

He has done so much for her, and it was all done in secret. That morning she was so upset with him and blamed him for everything. He didn’t say one word to her about what he had done.

Since her mother passed away, there was only one person that she could count one, and that was Donald Lynch. Donald was the love of her life, and she took it for granted. The relationship between her and Stuart was complicated. It was only supposed to be an arrangement between them. There was no need to do anything else for one another, but Stuart helped her more than once.

As Stuart was walking towards his office, the secretary was trying to tell him something. He entered his office and paused. Edie was in his office, and he had no idea why she was there, "Why are you here?"

He sounded very cold and had no emotion in his voice. The secretary was standing right beside him and was shocked at Stuart’sStuart’s tone. It was so apparent because the CEO never used this voice in the corporation. His voice was cold, but yet sounded soft. It always seemed to happen whenever he spoke or talked about Edie.

Ivan thought it was the softest voice he had ever heard from the CEO. In the past three years that he has worked here, he had never heard him speak this way to anyone.

Edie still had the file in her hands when they entered the room. She hid the file behind her immediately. She started to feel guilty; she took the file from behind her back and placed it on the desk.

"I...I happen to be in the neighborhood. So I..."

Edie was feeling a little nervous about seeing Stuart as they had just had an argument this morning. She really wanted to apologize to him but didn’t even know where to begin. Stuart was so angry with her when she left and now knowing what he had done for her. She was at a loss for words.

She wondered what was going through his mind. Stuart looked at her, and he instantly knew why she was there. One look at her, and he completely forgot about what happened the previous morning. There was no way he could be mad at her because every time he looked at her, all he could see was her beauty.

Edie thought Stuart was still mad at her because there was no response when she spoke to him. Why wouldn’t be upset with her, she blamed him for everything. It must have hurt him. The more she thought about it, the more she started to get worried.

"Stuart, I ....."

" Get out," Stuart said, in a quite cold voice.

Stuart started to talk, "Did you not hear me? Have you finished your work?" He was talking to his secretary. His secretary but a bit confused, "No, I haven’t finished the reports yet."

Stuart became very impatient. He wanted everyone except for Edie to leave his office. He wanted to know why she was there.

"Write all of it down and submit it to me before you leave today."

The secretary was having a hard time reading Stuart’sStuart’s mind, but finally, he realized that the CEO wanted to be alone with Edie. Now because of him bringing Edie to see Stuart he had

"Okay, I will do it right now."

He took his reports, started to walk away, and closed the door behind him. The office fell into a deep silence. Edie was standing in front of Stuart, and she could see his black eyes glaring at her.

"Why are you here?"

Stuart never repeated himself only when it came to Edie. She had to apologize, "where do I start?" She clenched her teeth and set the bag of takeout on his desk, "I happened to be around, so I thought I would bring you some lunch."

"Be around?"

The L.N building was located on the far side of the city. It was in a remote location, and not many people visited the building, only the employees who were coming in and out. How could Edie be around?

As soon as the secretary left, Edie felt her nervousness go away. It was her mistake this morning, and she had to apologize, and there was no way of avoiding it. Edie had to be honest with Stuart.
