Chapter 64: Chapter 64: Don’t Rush
After hearing what Edie just said, Ross froze. "Miss Lara, don’t rush. If you like performing, I have lots of plays waiting for you. You can choose any one of them as long as you like them. I could give you any play that our group had invested in if there are other plays that you may like. I will invest in them. I can make you the next movie, queen."
Finally, Ross tore his mask off. He fixed his eyes on Edie, with sexual desire in his eyes. The woman in front of him looked breath-taking beautiful, with an elegance that was rarely seen in the entertainment industry. It seemed that no one could invade her, but that only made him want her more.
Every time he looked at her, it made his heart beat faster and faster. Realizing what Ross was thinking, Edie felt more disgusting. She smiled slightly, "Mr. Luis, you may have misunderstood something. I am just an actress who wants to perform well in her play. I am not that ambitious."
"Miss Lara, let’s make it clear. It must have taken you a lot to take over Zoe’s role in this film. Compared to others, I am definitely the better choice. See, I am an Art Director of Universe Entertainment. Who would get more resources than me?"
Hearing the name Zoe she couldn’t help but ridicule him, "I assume that Zoe is also one of your women." Ross didn’t expect Edie would mention her name. He didn’t know how to answer, "She..."
Edie already knew the answer even before Ross could find an excuse, she continued, "Even if you are the Art Director of Universe Entertainment, how come you couldn’t save her role in this play?" Her words were so sharp that Ross didn’t know how to answer.
He experienced a lot, so he kept calm, smiling, "Compared to you, Zoe is nothing. She is just a toy for me. How could I possibly help her? Frankly speaking, I really like you, Miss Lara. If you agree to stay with me, I promise I will do whatever I can to support you. I can promise you one thing; better films are waiting for you in the future."
He really thought she was an idiot. Ross was married with a son. He just fooled around with women. She assumed he used the same words in front of Zoe. Edie chuckled, "If Miss Anna heard your words, she would be appalled right now."
Seeing her smile, his yearning for her got even stronger. It was so intense that he couldn’t see the irony on her face. Since Edie didn’t refuse him immediately, he assumed she wanted it.
Therefore, he went on, "Miss Lara, I had someone check your background information. I heard that you applied for a student loan for college. I know you weren’t born into a wealthy family. Why would you allow yourself so much suffering? You are such a beautiful woman. I really feel sorry for you. Here is some money..."
Then, he took a credit card out of his pocket and placed it on the table. "This is a joint credit card. You can spend ten thousand dollars per month. Take it, Miss Lara."
Ross showed his satisfaction on his face as if he could entirely persuade Edie with such a significant amount of money. If she didn’t have to maintain the manner, Edie would have burst into laughter. Was he talking to a beggar? Who did he think he was talking to?
Yes, she was a freshman, and she would earn several hundred thousand dollars for one film. Besides, there has been a lot invested in the White-Love-Song. She could make several million dollars. Ross gave her a card of ten thousand dollars, and then he was sure that she would be willing to be one of his mistresses?
He really thought she lost all her respect during college. She didn’t want to waste any more time. Edie started thinking about how to get rid of such an annoying pervert.
Suddenly, she came up with an idea. She smiled. She showed her sincerity. Seeing this, Ross felt excited from the bottom of his heart. He thought he would get her soon.
Unexpectedly, Edie said, "Since we are talking about the card, I also have a card. Would you mind taking a look at it for me?" Before Ross could reply, she took a black card out of her purse and placed it in front of Ross.
Immediately, the smile on Ross’s face froze. He looked uglier. He had been in the business for multiple years. With one eye, he could tell that it was the black card from the Swiss Bank Corporation, with no limitation on it.
He couldn’t apply for such a card. In the whole city, the number of men with qualifications for this card was less than twenty. Compared to the black card, his card meant nothing. "This is..." freeweɓnovel.cøm
Ross was a little frightened. "Where did you get this? This card means power. That means there is someone powerful backing you." Edie pretended to get confused, "What’s up? Mr. Luis. What’s wrong with this card?"
The muscles on his face twitched a little bit. He squeezed a smile, "Where did you get this card. Perhaps they lied to you."
"From my family."
Stuart was her husband in name only. She could call him her family. "I didn’t expect your family was so wealthy," Ross said, bitterly. This was her privacy. She didn’t have to tell him any more details.
Smiling, she took the black card back and stood up, "Thank you for your concern. If you have any more business, please contact my assistant first. I need to go back to rehearse my line. Goodbye Mr. Luis."
Then, she turned around and left him alone. She never touched that glass of juice he poured for her. For fear that he may have put something in it.
After returning to the hotel, Ross was furious. Zoe was frightened and immediately asked him, "What is wrong?" Ross was embarrassed by Edie, and he was a horrible mood. He glared at Zoe with so much anger, and he said, "Is your information correct? Edie really doesn’t have anyone behind her?"
Confused, Zoe replied immediately, "Absolutely. I asked the staff in the Star Entertainment. They said Edie didn’t even know about the role alteration."
"Then, how could she possibly own a black card?"
Zoe was shocked when she heard this. "Perhaps it was a fake card. I have several of them." Waving his hands, Ross said, "Whatever, she really embarrassed me. I don’t want to provoke her anymore."
Zoe got angry with his uselessness, but, still, she kept smiling, "Ross, don’t worry. She refused a toast, only to go back to her room. We don’t have to play nice anymore." Ross frowned, "You mean?" Zoe said several words neatly to his ears. An oily smile appeared on his fat face gradually.
