Chapter 384: Chapter 384: I Don’t Want You To Worry

Donald looked at Edie seriously with concern in his eyes. "As a friend," he said as he raised his voice. "I’m worried about your safety, but I’m relieved you have someone in your life that makes you happy." These words hit him with force greater than a thunderbolt and broke his heart.

Edie nodded her head, not knowing the true meaning behind Donald’s words. "Your illness, are you still keeping it a secret? I heard you mention something to Stuart," she asked curiously.

Donald pursed his lips at her and pointed to his head. "As long as Stuart doesn’t know what the treatment is for," he smiled.

A look of relief crossed Edie’s face. "You look happy. It’s nice to see you smile again," she said. "Who’s been taking care of you?" she asked. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

"Karen! She’s been very helpful. All she wants to do is take care of me and do everything she can to lighten things for me." Donald sighs heavily. "I still haven’t told Joanna yet."

Donald’s last words had dispelled Edie’s doubts. She looks up at him and nods her head in approval. "I think it’s important for you to embrace every moment that you have here on earth with your family. I know Joanna loves you very much. You should tell her, she’d understand."

"You don’t need to worry about me. I’ll be fine." Donald looked into Edie’s eyes with an anxious expression on his face. "Are you and Stuart planning on having a family soon?" He no sooner got the words out of his mouth, and his heart sank, and his stomach tied itself in knots.

’A baby?’ Edie thought. She wanted a child, but the timing wasn’t right. So many things have happened in her life, and right now, all she could do was wait until things calmed down. "No, not right away," she said, sounding disappointed. "I’m just waiting for the right time," she said with a warm smile.

"When the time comes...." Donald swallows and takes a deep breath. "Could I be his or her godfather?" he asked. His voice was a little shaky as he completed his sentence.

"I think that’s a good idea." Edie nodded without hesitation. "You will have to spoil my baby, though," she said, a glint of humor in her eyes.

Donald shook his head, excitedly. "Of course, I will," he said. "Once I’ve finished the treatment, I’ll be as good as new," he said.

Edie and Donald talked for a while, and then she walked him to the door. "Take care of yourself," she said as she gave him a hug. She had a sense of relief as she watched him get into the car with Karen.

The whole time, Stuart stood in the living room watching them. His frustration level was beginning to grow, and he could feel himself getting angry. "I don’t trust Donald," he mumbled. "I don’t like the way he looks at Edie either,"

Mr. Bates was standing behind Stuart and saw the whole thing. ’Mr. Yates is jealous,’ he thought. "Mr. Yates, your mother asked how you are going to deal with the incident with Aaron. She said you said you should get the family involved, and he will receive a punishment," he sighed heavily. "You did almost die." When Madame called, it was obvious by the tone in her voice, she was worried about Stuart, but she addressed the situation as though it was a business matter.

It was as though Stuart didn’t hear what Mr. Bates said. He stood there motionless and looked out the window. He had a look in his eyes that told Mr. Bates that his thoughts were elsewhere. Some time elapsed without receiving an answer, and Mr. Bates asked, "Mr. Yates, did you hear what I said about Aaron?"

Stuart took a deep breath before responding. "I don’t know what I’m going to do yet," he said frigidly. The tone of his voice also indicates his impatience. freёwebnovel.com

"Mr. Yates, your mother, is still on the phone waiting for your answer," Mr. Bates said, knowing this would only irritate Stuart even more. "It’s been several days, and Master Aaron has been seriously wounded, and he hasn’t recovered as of yet," he explained.

Mr. Bates no sooner finished speaking, and Edie entered the living room. "What did you say about Aaron?" she asked with a serious tone in her voice.

Mr. Bates hesitated before he replied. He looked at Stuart and back at Edie. "Master Aaron.....seems to be....getting worse," he said, his voice trembling.

Edie’s eyes widened in fear. "I have to go see him. I need to find out what’s wrong with him." Ever since Wilson told her what happened with Marina, Edie understood what Aaron was going through. Aaron wanted everyone to believe he was an evil man and never exposed his true feelings. He was suffering, and the only one he had was Wilson, and Edie wanted to help him.

Edie was just about to walk out the door, and suddenly her wrist was grabbed by Stuart. He had a vacant, blank expression on his face. "What’s wrong?" she asked.

"Do you not care about me?" Stuart asked in a deep voice.

"You’re jealous?" Edie chuckled. "You’re fine now and almost completely recovered from your injuries. It won’t be long, and you’ll be able to jump up and down." She smiled and rolled her eyes. "The servants and the doctors are here. What else do you want me to do for you?"

Stuart pointed to his stomach and said, "It still hurts. I haven’t completely recovered."

Edie looked at Stuart with a confused expression on her face. "You were fine yesterday. Why is it hurting now?" she asked, sounding concerned. She pulls up his shirt to look at the wound, and there’s blood seeping through the gauze. "You should’ve told me sooner."

"I didn’t want you to worry. The wound is taking some time to heal, and it always hurts." Stuart takes a deep breath and continues, "You should take care of me instead of some other man," he said, sounding like a child.

Edie never said a word at first. She grabbed his hand and took him to the bedroom. She started changing the dressing on his wound and asked, "Are you hurting anywhere else?"

Stuart pointed to his heart. "It hurts here," he said bluntly.
