Chapter 375: Chapter 375: You’ve Got To Stop This
Wilson nodded, though fear weighed heavily upon every part of him. "Things have gone so badly wrong." If he could say, even as a sour joke, that they were both on the same side, "There was something else going on," he tried to explain.
Edie stared at him in disbelief, wondering what the hell had happened to Marina. "Tell me! What do you mean?" She looked at him questionably, wondering if she had heard him right.
Wilson sighed, getting ready to explain. "Childe is to blame for the kidnapping of Marina, but he only wanted to scare Stuart. What he never expected was for someone else to take him from her. To this day, I don’t think Childe knows who it was. He’s never forgiven himself for it."
"That is none of your business." Wilson’s heart derailed as Childes’ voice came from behind him.
He turned to see Childe leaning against the wall, looking so fragile and tired. The silent intensity of his gaze made Wilson’s stomach lurch unexpectedly. "You should be in bed," he said in a low voice.
"Get out!" Childe shouted.
Wilson looked at Edie and then Childe as he silently prayed for help and guidance. His brow furrowing with concern. "You’ve got to stop this! She needs to know the..."
"Did you not hear what I said? I asked you to leave," Childe bellowed at him, cutting him off mid-sentence. Then he began to cough, causing a stabbing pain that went right through his whole body. He doubled over with the pain, clutching his sides, and felt everything start to spin.
"Master," Wilson said as he rushed over to his side.
Childe raised his hand, motioning for him to leave.
Wilson swallowed hard and took a deep breath. Then he said in a calm manner as he turned to walk away, "I’m sorry, Master."
Edie quickly stepped forward to help him. He raised his head, and Edie could see a trickle of blood coming out the left side of his mouth. She began to panic and shouted, "Someone helps him!"
Everyone rushed out of the room and took Childe back into the bedroom. Edie was sitting by the bed watching him anxiously, thinking about what Wilson told her. She had so many questions. ’What was Childe hiding? Why didn’t he want Stuart to know the truth?’ These two thoughts kept going through her mind. "Maybe when he wakes up, he’ll finally tell me the truth," she mumbled to herself.
Back at the Villa in London, Ivan patiently waited out front for Stuart. The moment the door opened, Stuart drew his first free breath in days. "How are you? Sir?" Ivan asked. He strongly objected to the Yates family harsh punishment and resented them for having such laws. He heard that three days in the cell seemed like three thousand years.
Stuart ignored Ivan’s words. "Have you found out where Edie is?" he asked.
"Yes! As you suspected, he’s taken her out of the city. She’s at the Bolton Chateau. It’s heavily guarded, so it’s not going to be easy to get in," Ivan explained as quickly as he could. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Stuart’s face changed, and for the first time since the conversation began, his voice trembled as he asked, "Is she hurt? Is she okay?" There was a dark cloud of sadness in his eyes.
Ivan hesitated and then spoke slowly, choosing his words with care. "I’m sorry, but I don’t know."
Stuart squinted dangerously at Ivan. "What did you say?" There was terror in his dark eyes.
Ivan frowned, and a serious look came into his eyes. "We can’t get close enough to see anything. But an hour ago, Childe sent word for you to go to the Chateau. You must be there at 2 p.m."
"NO!" Stuart said, raising his voice. "I’m not waiting one more second. I want to see Edie now."
"But Mr. Yates, you should get your wounds checked first. It’s only eleven, and there’s still lots of time..." Ivan was interrupted by Stuart.
"This isn’t up for negotiation," Stuart said coldly. "Follow me," he said as he opened the door. Then he went to his car. They arrived at the Chateau, and Ivan waited in his car as Stuart went to the door.
"Master Yates," Wilson exclaimed. "I’m surprised to see you this early. I thought you would’ve had your wounds looked at first," he said and motioned Stuart into the living room.
Stuart looks around. There was a faint smile on his face as he studied Wilson with calm and inscrutable eyes. "Where’s Childe?"
Wilson stared at Stuart, his eyes flickering. "I’m sorry, but he’s resting right now. Could I get you some tea and refreshments while you wait?"
Instantly, Stuart’s face went pale and completely bloodless. He stuck his head around the corner and into the view at the bottom of the steps. "No! How much longer do I have to wait," Stuart asked impatiently.
Edie was upstairs waiting for Childe to wake up and had no idea what was going on downstairs. Anne opened the door and saw Childe lying there with cuts and bruises all over his body. She immediately started crying hysterically. "What happened to him?" she asked.
Edie tries to comfort her. "Don’t worry. He’s going to be okay. He’s sleeping right now," she tried to explain to her.
"Are you sure? Look at his clothes," Anne said as she pointed to Childe. "He’s all covered in blood." She looked up at Edie with a frightened face.
Edie gently wiped the tears away from Anne’s face. "He’s going to be okay," she said softly. "Childe cares about you very much. If he were to wake up and see you crying, he would be so upset."
Anne tilts her head and says, "He’d be worried about me? Wouldn’t he?"
Edie nodded her head and said, "Yes, he would."
Anne took a deep breath to calm herself down. "Okay, I’ll go back to my room now," she said.
"I’ll be right here taking care of him for you," Edie said, reassuring her.
Anne smiled and said, "Thank you."
