Chapter 368: Chapter 368: His Impulsive Behavior

And then just as Mike was about to announce Childes’ name, he was abruptly interrupted. "No, a decision can’t be made yet. There’s someone who hasn’t voted yet," Childe said at length, his measured voice giving nothing away.

Rose gasped, wide-eyed, the words leaping out at her. Of all people to interrupt, it was her son. A tide of hatred rose so swiftly in her chest. She flashes her cruel dark eyes at Childe. She rose suddenly. "What the hell are you talking about?" she spoke in the harsh voice of despair.

Mike signaled her to be quiet then he blurted out, "All of the board members are here except Terence Yates. He officially told me that no matter what is to be discussed, he wants to be involved whenever voting takes place."

Terence was Childes’ younger brother. He was the duke and held a fair amount of shares within the company and rarely got involved with company matters. Hearing his brother’s name, Childe didn’t even flinch. "No, it’s not him," he said calmly.

Mike looks at him with a puzzled expression on his face."Then who is it?" he asked, sounding very confused.

Childe could feel everyone staring at him, and he slowly explained, "The person who objects Is me."

The room became chaotic. There was a burst of noise as everyone shouted out, asking questions. "Everyone calm down," Mike ordered. "I was with the understanding that both you and Stuart agreed. I’m sorry, Childe, I just assumed....."

Louis interrupted, "What is going on here? This is ridiculous! I thought this was an agreement between Childe and Stuart?" He can feel his anger building with every second that passes. "Do we look like fools? You should have the decency of showing us some respect," his voice was stern and loud.

For a long time, Rose sat in her seat with a stunned expression on her face. She shook her head as if it were some kind of mistake and said, "I’m sorry, gentlemen. My son is a little confused. Give me a minute, and I’ll settle this matter."

"No, I know what...." Before Childe could say anything else, Rose raised her hand, and with the back of her hand, she slapped him, and he almost fell. The slap jerked his head back and left the angry imprint of her hand on his face. Childe bit his white lips till the blood came, and there passed over his face an expression of agony so terrible as to cause every eye that saw it turn away. He wiped the blood away from his lips, and his fingers suddenly gloved red and sticky. He smiled, gently and sadly, but his voice was firm as he said, "I would have expected nothing else from you,"

Rose showed no sympathy for her son. She’d never cared about anyone except herself. She turns to the members of the board and pleads with them. "Please...My son is not in his own right mind. I’m his mother, and I’ll vote for him."

"No, I object," Childe shouted. His voice was loud and firm.

Rose became hysterical and insisted that they didn’t listen to her son. She turned to Childe with such hatred in her eyes and said, "Do you have any idea what you’re doing? You’re throwing away any claim you have in the L. N. Group. You can’t do this to me!"

Childe stopped and looked her dead in the eye. "This is my business, and it doesn’t involve you. I know what I’m doing." He narrowed his eyes, suspicious of her every move.

Finally, Mike couldn’t stand it any longer. He banged his fists on the table and had a look of disgust on his face. "That’s enough," he shouted. "I have no issues if you two want to discuss this issue in a calm manner, but we’re not listening to you argue endlessly. No one is allowed to vote for another. Do you understand?" he asked as he looked at Rose. freewēbnoveℓ.com

"Yes," she said, nodding her head.

"Okay, now that’s out of the way, Childe, I will ask you again. What’s your answer?" Mike said in a stern voice.

Childe said it very slowly and stressed every word, "I OBJECT."

"You’re clearly out of your mind," Rose shouted.

Mike nodded to Childe with a look of satisfaction on his face. "Since you’ve made your decision, the members of the board will respect your choice. If someone on the board disagrees, then the agreement is invalid. Therefore, the CEO of the L. N. Group is still Stuart Yates. But because of your impulsive and unpredictable behavior, there will be a punishment. We will discuss it later and notify you tomorrow." Mike looked around the room, and everyone was silent as they stared at him. "The meeting is adjourned,"

Rose looked at Childe with such hatred in her eyes. Not once did she think about his feelings. She grabbed him by the arm and said, "Come with me. We need to talk." She took him outside to the corridor.

Childe stood facing her, looking her in the eye. Without hesitation, she slapped his face again. He grinned and asked, "Are you satisfied?"

She gave him an angry glare, Her blue eyes darkened, and her face became red instantly. "Are you challenging me?" she asked. "You’ve thrown it all away. Our dreams are ruined because of you. Do you have any idea what you’ve done? You’ll regret this." Rose kept yelling and threatening him, and Childe hardly responded at all.

Childe turned slowly, his face distorted by sudden rage. He didn’t look at her directly; he kept his eyes fixed on the wall beside Rose’s head. "It was always your dream. It was never mine." He sounded sincere, but he couldn’t keep the anger from his voice as he spoke. "Do you have any idea what I really want?"

"What do you want? Your stupid freedom? Since the day you were born, you’ve always caused me problems. I gave you everything, and this is how you treat me?" Rose’s voice got louder with every sentence.

"You raised me like someone would have raised a dog," Childe sneered.

His words shocked her. She stopped cold. "You’re handsome like your father, and you’ve inherited his weaknesses, he was restless and reckless. Just like you." She paused and took a deep breath. "I raised you for this, hoping and praying that one day it would be yours. I don’t understand why you would let it all go?"

"That was the only reason, and you ever had anything to do with me because you wanted the power. You never showed any interest in me or my life. I want my life back, and I wish I weren’t your son," Childe said it slowly and seriously.
