Chapter 362: Chapter 362: Would You Please Let Me Go?

"I would never want to learn anything from you. You can’t be trusted," Edie replied frigidly.

A sheepish grin appeared on Aaron’s face as she looked back at her. "Honestly, I don’t care." He shrugged and pointed to the door, "It’s time for dinner. Shall we go?" He looked at Edie, but she never moved. "That wasn’t a question. That was an order," he insisted.

Edie hesitated, but what choice did she have. She had to do what he asked. She clenched her jaw and followed him. As she looked around the castle, she was amazed to see such beauty. There was a Spanish rug on the shining wood floor, marble tables here and there. It had an old fashioned dining room, complete with oil paintings, red-velvet chairs, and overhead, a brass, and crystal chandelier. As she walked down the stairs, Anne waved excitedly to her.

Aaron whispers in Edie’s ear. "Remember, don’t say anything to her, or she could die," he threatened. freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

Edie thought about what he said. "Why would he care about Anne? She’s only a bargaining tool. He’s using me to threaten Stuart. To him, everyone is only a tool. The bastard!" she muttered and cursed him under her breath. "Everybody has a price, and it isn’t always about money. I should’ve realized that earlier." Edie chuckled. "If you really cared about Anne, why would you leave her on the road? And would you even have felt guilty if something happened to her?"

Aaron could feel his heart twitching and didn’t know why. "Edie..." he started to say.

But Edie interrupted him. "You’re a cold-hearted person. You don’t have any feelings or human decency. Think about what you did to Marina Daisy!" ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

After what Edie said, he swallowed his words. Aaron laughed an eerie laugh. "You know me so well. Does that mean you care about what happens to me?" He took a deep breath and whispered softly, "What would my brother think? Would he be jealous?"

Edie never said a word. She pursed her lips together and gave him a withering look as she turned her head; it made her fall forward. "Ah...." she screamed.

Aaron was directly beside her and then quickly grabbed hold of her around the waist and pulled her close to him. "Someone’s awful eager to throw herself into my arms," he said playfully.

"How dare you!" Edie screamed. She tried to push him away, but the more she tried, the tighter he held her. The hair on the nape of her neck rose in atavistic horror. Inside she trembled. She stared at him with terror and sadness in her eyes. "Aaron Yates, what do you want from me? Let me go?" Edie demanded.

Aaron’s lips curved into a wry smile. His eyes glistened like stars of the night. He never said a word to Edie; he just looked at her and said nothing. After numerous attempts of trying to get away from Aaron, Edie glared at him. "WOULD YOU PLEASE LET ME GO!" she said, stressing each word harshly.

Aaron felt his heart drop from his chest, sinking all the way to his feet and leaving him hollow inside. Edie’s wide, bright eyes stared at him fearlessly. Something emerged in his heart, an emotion he’d never felt before. He shook his head, trying to shake off the feeling. "I will let you go, but there will be a price," he said softly. He took a deep breath and slowly let go of her. Then he watched as she tumbled down the stairs.

Once Edie reached the bottom, her thoughts were in a whirl. Her temples aching, her nerves paralyzed, her body numb with pain. Anne slowly ran over to her and leaned forward. "Are you okay? You should be more careful," she said, sounding concerned. She didn’t see what happened, and she thought it was an accident and Edie didn’t want Anne to know the truth. Edie tried to comfort her. "There’s a few cuts and bruises, but don’t worry, I’ll be fine," she said, trying to steady her voice.

Edie raised her head and glared at Aaron fiercely. He laughed, a high hollow sound as if mocking her. "I told you," he said.

She turned her head and avoided eye contact with him. Anne tried to help Edie stand up. When she stood up, she could see a pool of blood on the floor. It frightened Anna when she saw it. "Oh, no! It looks bad, and you need some bandages," Anne said.

Aaron stepped forward and took Anne by the arm. "You need to eat. I’ll take care of Edie for you. Okay?"

Anne was a little hesitant at first. "Okay.....," she said and released Edie’s hand.

Aaron came down the stairs, one step at a time. Seeing him get closer, Edie felt frightened and tried to step back, but fell to the floor. "You need to be careful," he said, smirking.

Edie’s cheeks flushed as she stared straight ahead. "I was," she said. She looked terrible. Her face was pale and panicked, and there was real fear in her eyes.

Aaron lifted his brow as he looked down at her. Even though the bruises, the broken skin, her face is still beautiful. Her eyes are so pure. This is who my brother fell in love with.’ Aaron had more of an understanding of Stuart’s love for Edie. The more he thought about it, the more he wanted to destroy her.

Aaron closed his eyes for a second to calm himself down. The anger started as a slow burn within his heart, moving up, gaining intensity, until his face was flushed and his hands trembled. He clenched his fists to stop them, then released them. "Let me help you," he said, holding out his hand to help her. Edie didn’t take it. She resisted with diminishing force. "Stay there all day. It’s up to you," he laughed. She gave in and reached out for his hand. Aaron took it and picked her up and carried her to his room.
