Chapter 326: Chapter 326: Twitter Scandal
Danny spoke with clear and precise sentences as if he had rehearsed each word beforehand. Edie knew he was telling the truth. "Can some crazy fan of Clyde’s really create such a meticulously complicated world for someone he, or she doesn’t really know?" Edie asked.
"Viewers will show no mercy for anyone," Danny replied.
Edie sighed in exasperation, "Okay! I’ll talk to the film crew as soon as possible."
"Okay, but try and stay off the internet because if you read what they’re saying about you, it’ll definitely put you in a bad mood. And if for some reason you do go online, don’t make any comments. The company will take it for you. I’m not asking! I’m ordering it! Do you understand?" Danny said in a stern voice.
Edie sounded gloomy. "I know! All I ever wanted was to become an actress. It shouldn’t be this hard!"
After hanging up the phone, Edie stared blankly at the ground, not knowing what would happen next. Thinking about the conversation with Danny, Edie couldn’t resist. She grabbed her phone and tapped on Twitter. Just as Danny said, her name was trending on Twitter and had provoked some heated discussions. There was one post that stood out the most. It read "The Most Infamous Actress of all Times." And there was a picture of Clyde holding Edie in his arms. There were thousands of comments under the post. Edie took a deep breath and started to read the comments. "Their words are so cruel and malicious. All his fans are doing is robbing me of my good name and credibility," Edie said sadly.
"This woman should be dead! Watching her act with Clyde is harsh enough, but now she’s dating him!" One fan said.
"Another read, "You’re a bitch! Stay away from him! You’re giving him a bad name!"
And another, "She’s had plastic surgery! Look what she’s wearing! What a slut! No wonder she’s still not famous!"
And another, "I want her gone! Anyone out there agrees with me?"
Reading the insults, Edie scrolled through to the last one. She’d had enough and exited out of Twitter. She sat on the edge of her bed, looking at her phone. "Danny told me not to contact Clyde, but....?" Edie mumbled. She started rifling through her purse for Clyde’s number and found a wrinkled business card. Looking at her phone for a moment, Edie hesitates and then dials the number.
With each ring, her heart edged a little bit closer to her mouth. Edie pressed the phone hard against her ear and listened to the echo of her beating loudly. "Pick up the phone," she whispered, rocking back and forth. By the fourth ring, she heard the phone pick up.
"Edie! How are you feeling?" Clyde asked, his voice sounding cheerful.
Edie wasn’t in the mood for polite social chitchat. Her voice slightly trembled as she asked, "Um...When you took me to the hospital, someone took a picture of us. Do you know who it was?"
Clyde answered casually, "Why does it matter?"
"Aren’t you afraid of ruining your reputation," Edie replied.
"What reputation do I have to ruin? You’re my fiancée, remember? Once Stuart sees it, he’ll want a divorce, and you can marry me!" he said, sounding enthusiastic.
"Maybe it doesn’t bother you, but your fans are giving me a bad name," Edie said. She is taking a deep breath to keep herself calm.
Clyde’s tone became serious. "Oh! Tell me! What’s going on?"
"Take a look at Twitter!" Edie explained.
Clyde looked at his assistant and ordered, "Get my IPad!" freёwebnoѵel.com
Clyde opened Twitter and started reading the insults. His thin face looked bleaker than ever. His assistant swallowed nervously, seeing the expression on Clyde’s face. "Can I get you a drink of water, Mr. Jackson?" his assistant asked.
Edie couldn’t hear a thing in the background, only dead silence. "Clyde, are you still there?"
"Stay away from the filming shoot," Clyde said quickly. "Give me a few more days, and I’ll take care of it."
"I have to be there! Malloy will be furious." Edie said.
"Don’t worry about it! I said I’d take care of it, and I will. Your role is a maid, scenes can be put in, and scenes can be deleted." Clyde explained. frёeωebɳovel.com
Edie mumbled, "You and Danny think the same. You both seem to know a lot about fans!" Edie paused. "You’re not arbitrary basing your decision on a personal whim. That makes me a little nervous." Edie sighed. "I guess you’re the only one who knows your fans, so if you think this is the best way to solve the problem." Edie shook her head in agreement. "Okay! I’ll be waiting for your call."
Edie quickly hung up, washed up, and went downstairs. Stuart was still in the kitchen. Mr. Sampson was standing by the door. "Edie, you’re up! Old Greg is here for a visit," he said.
Edie’s eyes glistened with excitement and delight. The gloom which surrounded her immediately cleared away. "Where is he?" she asked Mr. Sampson.
"He’s out in the garden," Mr. Sampson informed her.
Edie nodded and quickly turned around to go out to the garden. Mr. Watson was pushing the wheelchair, and the second Edie saw her Grandpa, she started running towards him. She kneeled down in front of him and gave him a big hug. "Grandpa, I’ve missed you," Edie said.
"You’re finally awake! You lazy girl!" Old Greg smiled. He looked closely at her face.
"Grandpa!" Edie stuck her tongue out at him. "It was a three-hour drive, and I was exhausted. I only got back first thing this morning."
"You look too skinny! Have you lost weight again?" Grandpa asked with concern in his voice.
"I’m fine! Stop worrying about me," Edie said, trying to reassure him.
Old Greg crossed his arms over his chest. "I don’t know why you insist on becoming an actress. You get paid next to nothing, and you never eat well!"
Edie tried to comfort him. "The TV series I acted in is airing tomorrow. You’ll be able to see your granddaughter in action."
Old Greg looked at Edie’s bright and beautiful face. "You look so much like your mother!" he said. He pulled Edie closer and stroked her hair.
Edie looks up at her Grandpa; there’s something I need to talk to you about."
Old Greg gazed at Edie. With a curious look on his face, he says, "You look so serious! What’s wrong?"
