Chapter 320: Chapter 320: She’s The One

Princes Raines looked at her, his kind eyes full of concern. "You’re a powerful young woman to have seen all of this at such a young age. You should be proud of yourself." he paused. "I know it must have been hard for you to come and ask me for help again. I will do what I can, just tell me what’s happened. Where’s Sally?"

The Prince looked at Mae intensely, and she looked back at him. For a moment, she was in a trance. Her face turned very red, and tears came into her eyes. "Honestly," she muttered. "I never thought you would actually agree to help me." Mae took a deep breath and closed her eyes. She settled her emotions rather quickly as she focused on slowly exhaling. "I didn’t want to get you involved, but I didn’t know what else to do. Miss. Sally’s been imprisoned, and if there’s some way you can persuade the Emperor to let her go..."

Prince Raines thought about it for a while and then nodded. "I will be playing chess with the Emperor today. I will talk to him about this matter, I promise."

A look of relief and unmitigated gratefulness crossed her face, "Thank you." Mae kneeled before him. Her hands clasped together in a beseeching attitude.

"Do rise, I cannot bear to see you kneeling to me," he said. "You need to change. The servant brought you some clothing."

Mae stared at the Prince shaking her head, eyes full of tears. "No, I have to go. If I stay too long, the servants will start gossiping, and it could destroy your reputation or even worse. Put your life in danger. I don’t know how to thank you or how I can repay your kindness."

The Prince looked up and met Mae’s eyes, and he seemed curiously restless and unsettled. He knew her stubbornness, always considering others before herself. He smiles at her as the two sit there in silence for a moment. "Duncan, go get Mae another umbrella," he ordered. His tone sounded solemn and almost helpless.

Mae found her heart softening, "You have helped me so many times, and not once have you ever looked down on me. Even now, you are concerned and willing to help me," she said softly.

With the umbrella in his hand, Duncan walks toward Mae, but Prince Raines stops him and takes the umbrella. He lowers his voice and passes it to her. "Take this, and please be careful."

Mae bit her lips to stop the sobs from breaking free of her throat. "Thank you," she whispered softly. She stared at him unbelievingly, then took a deep breath and left.

The photographer zoomed in on Clyde’s face to get a close-up. The way the Prince looked at Mae, the love that radiated out of his eyes said it all. His eyes were filled with emotion. After they finished the act, Malloy stood up and yelled bravo and applauded. This scene was about the Prince’s feelings toward Mae. Their love for another was kept a secret. If it were to be revealed, there would be countless dangers in the future.

This performance went great, and everyone praised their acting in every respect, "You two are born actors. That was amazing,"

Everyone was looking at Clyde, and no one noticed how sickly Edie looked. Her body was shaking slightly, and she was sweating. Her lips were pale and face paler. After the scene, Rhonda had given her a blanket to cover up in, but Edie was still cold.

Clyde turned his head and looked at Edie. "You’ve been out in the rain too long. You should go to change before you get sick." He looks at her seriously with a frowning gaze, without hiding his distress and smiling only slightly.

Edie shrugged, seeing the expression on Clyde’s face. "I’ll be....." Barely getting the words out of her mouth, and she felt a sharp pain in her stomach. She fell to the ground and curled up into a ball just like a little baby. "Ah....." she cried out.

Worry spread across Clyde’s face. He ran over and kneeled beside her and asked nervously, "What’s wrong? Edie, talk to me!"

Edie couldn’t stop trembling. She began to gasp for air and became light-headed. The pain grew more and more intense. She could barely hear Clyde, and her vision went black. "Help! She’s fainted!" Clyde shouted. In an instant, he reached out for her and held her.

Rhonda ran over and felt Edie’s forehead. She kneeled down beside her and nudged Edie on the shoulder. "Edie, are you okay? Wake up!"

Clyde looks at Rhonda and asks, "Was she not feeling well today?"

Rhonda’s face gets a little flushed. Feeling a little embarrassed, she says, "Ah...No, Edie wasn’t feeling earlier this morning."

"Why didn’t you tell me? Did Malloy know, she wasn’t feeling well? We could have delayed the shoot." Clyde’s voice began to raise and his face started to turn red.

"But, Edie..." Clyde never gave Rhonda a chance to explain.

Clyde quickly picked Edie up. "Someone get an umbrella to keep the rain off her," he ordered. freewēbnoveℓ.com

Malloy sighed and said, "No, it’s done for the day."

Two assistants came rushing over to Clyde, each holding an umbrella in their hand. "Hold them over her. We have to keep Edie as dry as possible."

The assistant’s looked at one another, surprised by Clyde’s compassion toward Edie. This was the first time they’d ever seen Clyde be so caring. One assistant held an umbrella over Edie, and the other held it over Clyde. "Don’t worry about me. Hold them over her!"

Clyde took Edie to his car, and Manley opened the door for him. "What’s wrong with her?’ Manley asked.

"I don’t know? She fainted right after the shoot. I’m taking her to the hospital," Clyde said as he gently laid Edie on the back seat of the car.

Manley studied Edie’s bloodless face. Her face half-covered with hair was pale, and there were dark circles under her eyes. "This poor woman. So fragile and alone. She must have had a hard life," Manley said.

Touched by Manley’s words, Clyde became more concerned. His expression changed in an instant from concern to cold. "Be quiet and get her to the hospital as fast as you can, but be careful."

Manley never said another word. He got in the car, started the engine, and stepped on the throttle. He looked in the mirror at Clyde. Tilted his head to one side and asked, "Tell me the truth! I know you have to look for someone! Is Edie the one?"

Clyde seemed to be thinking about something. His expression was unreadable. After a long time went by with a faint smile on his face, Clyde answers, "Yes, she’s the one!"
