Chapter 310: Chapter 310: You Are A Very Lucky Woman
Edie’s imagination was uncontrollable. Jason and Scarlet... What is a relationship? One minute they adore each other, the next they’re squabbling over the littlest thing.
Hearing the voices coming from outside the kitchen, Scarlet walks out with the knife in her hand. "Hi, I wasn’t expecting you two so soon," she said. She made hand motions while she spoke, waving the knife in the air.
Startled, Edie stepped back. "Scarlet, please be careful with that knife."
Scarlet completely forgot she was holding it. "Oh my goodness," she smiled and put it in Jason’s hand. "Could you put this back in the kitchen for me?" she asked.
"What are you doing, waving a knife in your hand anyway?" Jason complained. "Are you practicing for the circus?" Scarlet’s face turned beet red as Jason turned and walked back into the kitchen.
"You’re my guest! I’m the one who is supposed to be cooking for you," Edie said. "There’s a new dish that Stuart or I mean Mr. Sampson tried this morning. It didn’t turn out, so maybe we’ll ask Carol to cook something for us. Let’s go upstairs and talk while Carol is getting it ready."
Edie looked at Stuart and smiled. He nodded. "That sounds like a good idea. Carol will let us know when dinner is ready."
They went to the terrace, which was on the second floor. Sitting down on the wicker chairs, Scarlet said, "It’s a lovely view to look at." She leans over and whispers in Edie’s ear, "I can tell by the way you smile that Stuart’s good to you.
Feeling a little shy, Edie nodded her head. "Yes, he is very good to me."
"You’re a very lucky woman. A man with such a high social status is treating you this way. It’s obvious how much he loves you. What did you do to make him fall so passionately in love with you, anyway?" Scarlet smiled naughtily.
Edie quickly changed the topic. "Tell me about you and Jason. You keep saying there’s nothing between the two of you, but look at you guys. You look sweet together. Are you officially a couple?" Scarlet shrugged. Her eyes darted from the garden to Edie, looking anywhere, but at Jason.
"No, of course, we’re not a couple. He comes over to the apartment for a few days at a time, but only to get away from his nagging grandfather," she said loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Does Jason not have other houses, he could stay in?" Edie asked. "Do you not think that maybe it’s just an excuse so he can come and see you?"
"No, it’s not that at all..." Scarlet was trying to reassure Edie, but also herself.
"Why don’t you two just make it official? I mean that your boyfriend and girlfriend," Edie looked from Jason to Scarlet. Edie saw how Jason looked at Scarlet and knew he cared about her very much.
Scarlet shook her head. "I like the way things are! There’s no commitment between us. If it was meant to be then, it would be and if it’s not. Well, you know the rest."
"I think the two of you make a cute couple. You’re perfect for one another. You should give it a try!" Edie thought that neither one of them wanted to say the word. So she decided that she would give them a little push.
"No, it’s not that easy. You were fortunate to find someone as good as Stuart. Jason and Stuart are from the upper class, and where do we come from? You know the answer, and you also know that Stuart had a prearranged marriage. So...." Scarlet let out a sigh and continued. "I’m just an ordinary girl! There will never be anything serious between us." Scarlet didn’t want to say it, but Edie knew what she was talking about. Edie could see the sadness on her face.
Edie had known Scarlet for some time now, and she knew her well. Scarlet’s childhood experiences had caused her great psychological pain. There was a time in Scarlet’s life when her world collapsed in front of her eyes, and she was helpless. Now, she was the bravest, the most stubborn, and the most frustrating woman. Scarlet made a promise to herself that she would never allow anyone to get emotionally close to her again. Edie knew all of this, but she still had hope for her. She wanted Scarlet to open her heart up and find love.
Edie tried to persuade Scarlet. "Give it a try! I know Jason is serious about you. Even if he says, he isn’t. I see it! You are perfect for each other."
"No, it’s not worth...." Scarlet closed her eyes and lowered her head. "I can’t open my heart up. It’s too painful," she said in a low voice.
Do you remember how Stuart and I met and how long it took me to truly fall in love with him and the pain that I was in after Donald left me? Then Stuart came into my life. Like a knight and shining armor. Only I didn’t know it at the time." Edie was trying to give Scarlet hope. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
Edie thought about the video she received early on in the day and was more confident in telling Stuart about it. The atmosphere was starting to get tense on the terrace. Scarlet remembered something, and a mysterious smile appeared on her face. "Since this is the first time I’ve ever visited you, I brought you a gift. Call it a house warming present."
"What is it?" Edie asked as she curiously looked at the box.
Scarlet was smiling, "Here, open it up and take a look."
Edie unwrapped the gift and opened the box. "It’s sex toys? What were you thinking?" Edie asked with a stunned look on her face.
"I thought you would like them. I wanted to give you something special, and I knew you had just about everything. These will indeed help with your sex life. What do you think?"
Edie clenched her teeth and said, "So you decide to give me this?"
"Yes! Take a look at this vibrator. It’s extremely quiet, and I think you and Stuart will get a lot of enjoyment out of it." Scarlet said.
"Scarlet Yvette," Edie shouted.
Realizing Edie was upset, Scarlet stood up and started downstairs, "I think dinners ready. I’m going downstairs to see." As she was walking away, she said, "Use it well!"
Edie started to giggle, which immediately made the tension in the room disappear. ’I think Scarlet and Jason should be together. She’s so happy when they’re together. Maybe there’s some way I can help,’ Edie thought.
The dinner was a success. Mr. Sampson opened two bottles of red wine, and Carol made two delicious dishes. It was a little past eleven, and Jason stood up and said, "It’s getting late, we should be on our way."
Scarlet was reluctant to leave. "Why are we leaving so early. The wine isn’t gone yet. I’d like to have another drink."
Both Edie and Scarlet had a little bit too much to drink. Jason hugged her and directed her towards the door. "That’s enough drinking for tonight. Remember, as soon as we get home?" he gave a curious look. "Your punishment."
Todd also got up and said goodbye. "This bachelor must get going as well. Enjoy the rest of your evening."
The Villa was now quiet, and Edie had a look of dissatisfaction on her face. "I wish they didn’t have to leave so early."
Stuart raised his eyebrows. "Would you like to have another drink."
Edie quickly shook her head in agreement. "I would love another drink. You rarely allow me to drink anymore. I’m going to enjoy it while I can."
Stuart had a seductive grin on his face. He leads Edie upstairs to the bedroom. "I’ll take it upstairs with us, and we can enjoy it...."
