Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Getting More Interested

"Eddie? Is it you? Where are you going?" He felt as if he were possessed as he recited her name in his mind. He didn’t know what he was thinking, but the wan smile crept up on the corner of his mouth again, and Aaron murmured to himself, "I’m getting more and more interested in this new sister-in-law of mine."

He burst out laughing and walked out of the room.

As soon as Eddie found the exit of the garden, she saw Stuart. Eddie instantly felt relieved as if a hanging stone had finally fallen to the ground, and she rushed to him.

"Where have you been? Did you not think that I would be worried about you?" Stuart’s tone was unusually gentle. Eddie quickly admitted to her mistake, "I didn’t mean to. It was so stuffy in there, and I wanted to come out and get some fresh air. Don’t be angry with me!"

Stuart looked her up and down, making sure she was not hurt, and then he let out a sigh of relief.

"I just saw Aaron! He’s in the castle!" Eddie grabbed Stuart’s arm and quickly told him the news.

"I know, Ivan told me," Stuart nodded softly. His face was as cold as ice, and his deep, dark eyes faintly swept across the villa in the garden. Then he hugged Eddie.

"From now on, stay with me. Let’s go back to the hall where the party is!"

Unexpectedly from behind them, a disturbing voice was heard, "Elder brother and sister-in-law, I haven’t seen you both for such a long time."

Eddie looked back, Aaron was broadly smiling as he walked in the hall triumphantly.

"Stuart, Aaron is coming down the hall! What does he want?"

Eddie didn’t wait long, and Aaron quickly proved what he wanted to do. Aaron’s men promptly brought him the microphone. He cleared his throat twice, and the bustling hall quieted down.

"Hello, ladies and gentlemen. For those who do not know who I am, I am Stuart’s brother. I am second in line to the L.N. group, Aaron. Today, I’m representing the L.N. Group board at Dior’s centennial celebration."

As soon as the voice fell, there was whispering amongst the crowd of people. Stuart was the current CEO of the L.N. Group, the real holder of power. Aaron did not want Stuart to speak directly on behalf of the board of directors.

Initially, before the ball started, it should have been Stuart who was supposed to speak, but Aaron asked to host the ball as soon as he arrived. He glared at Stuart because he wanted nothing more than to steal Stuart’s place in the L. N. Group.

Many of the upper-class people saw the intentions of Aaron immediately, but some did not know how to respond to actions. Many people looked at Stuart and seemed to be waiting for his response. Some even hold their breath for fear that they were about to witness a sibling rivalry.

But they were disappointed as Stuart’s expression was as flat as if nothing had happened to him.

"Everything is what Childe Yates says."

"What is going on! Is Stuart giving his power away? What does this mean he is showing weakness? Was the interior of the L.N. Group going to change?"

All of the people were thinking about the same thing. After all, the L.N. Group was the first enterprise in the city. The internal power struggle would affect the whole financial circle. Aaron didn’t care. His mouth turned into a smirk of triumph.

He fought Stuart but rarely ever won. Aaron’s battles with Stuart involved Marina and Eddie, and of course, he paid a terrible price. He certainly knew that today Stuart was trying to be patient with him for Eddie’s sake, but he didn’t care. As long as Stuart gave in, it was a victory.

There was a long way to go, and as long as nothing happened to Aaron, this crazy game will never end. Aaron enjoyed the glare of the crowd, and suddenly a woman in amongst the people caught his attention. The arc in the corner of his mouth suddenly grew larger, and he smiled and said, "Since I am the host of the centennial celebration for Dior, the next dance will be with the leading actress and me. I would like her to stand by my side and dance with me for the first dance?"

The Leading actress was Hicks. The crowd followed Aaron’s eyes and saw the confused look on Hicks’ face. With a big smile on his face, Aaron motioned to Hicks to get her to come over.

Then he turned his head around to look at Stuart. There was an undisguised clamor in that glance. Eddie wondered, "Aaron asked Hicks to dance, why was he looking at Stuart?"

There was a bad feeling in her heart. Eddie looked up at Stuart, trying to find something from the emotions on his face, but there was nothing. Stuart’s face was calm, and there was no sign of any emotion.

By the look of his deep, dark eyes, it was as though he was thinking about something. Then suddenly, Stuart wrapped his arm around Eddie’s waist. Without even realizing he pinched her. Eddie’s heart suddenly jumped, "Did Stuart have anything to do with Hicks?"

Hicks was cowardly, but she was not stupid. She could sense the animosity between the brothers. Of course, she didn’t want to be in the middle of it. Stuart was the only man in the room the Hicks wished to dance with.

But all eyes were on her, and Aaron was representing the board of directors. He waved to her, and she wasn’t moving. It was too unflattering.

She was just a little star, so there was a choice. She moved slowly, looking for help from Stuart.
