Chapter 218: Chapter 218: Why Does He Love Edie So Much?

Anna had no idea whether her actions were right or wrong. Anna did everything the man told her to do. Why did she feel like she was pushing Stuart further and further away? Anna was willing to do whatever it takes to make Stuart love her!

This wasn’t what Anna wanted! How satisfied she was when she arrived in America with confidence, and now only after a short time, everything was spinning out of control! Anna could see him slowly drifting away, her long fingernails dug deep into her heart, and she didn’t care if they bled.

It was as if this was the only way to ease her pain. When Stuart and Hicks got into the car and drove away, Anna opened her bag angrily, pulled out her phone, and quickly sent a text message.

"What was the point of you helping me find Hicks? Are you really helping me? When will I get Stuart?"

Three questions came out in a volley, and Anna pressed the button as hard as she could to send the message. She waited for a long time, and still, there was no reply as if the stone was sinking to the bottom of the sea. Anna was on the verge of breaking down. She could no longer stay calm, then she opened her address book, found the number, and dialed the phone directly.

Though the man had warned her not to call, she was now out of control. To her surprise, the person on the other end answered. Since the phone was in his hand, then he must have seen Anna’s text messages, but he deliberately did not reply!

This knowledge filled Anna’s heart with anger, and she was stimulated by the scene where Hicks and Stuart were together. She did not wait for him to speak; she spoke first.

"Sir, I did everything you told me to do, but it didn’t go the way that you said it would. Now Stuart is moving further and further away from me. He doesn’t care about me at all. There’s not just Eddie anymore, and now there’s Hicks. Do you want me to take him out of Eddie’s hands and get him into her hands?"

"Fool!"

There was a curse coming from the receiver, a voice like a synthesizer, shrill, cold, and mechanical, "Are you going to break down every time a woman comes along? You figure out who is your biggest threat right now?"

The biggest threat? Anna suddenly thought of Stuart’s behavior; without a second thought, she blurted out, "It’s Eddie; right now, Stuart’s heart belongs to her!"

The man sneered, "Oh, you’re not too stupid to be helped after all. Eddie is Stuart’s legitimate wife and someone he holds deep in his heart. Then there is Hick’s, someone who he cares about, but only feels guilt when he thinks about her. Even if she is Marina, are you sure that the events of ten years ago will rival Eddie’s weight in his heart?"

"I..."Anna paused and took a deep breath," Why does he love Eddie so much? Marina is dead to him. I don’t believe he could put her down so easily."

"Do you not have a brain? Think about it. Do you think guilt and love are the same? Even if Stuart gave Marina all the stars, it would not be because he loved her! The one he loves is your opponent. How can you get Stuart without bringing Eddie down ?"

Despite the man’s bad attitude, the words seemed like a reminder to her. It gave Anna a twinkle in her eye. freēwēbnovel.com

"Yeah, that is so true. Why didn’t I think of that."

"If you can think of it easily, what’s the value of working with me?" The man’s tone was full of conceit. Anna asked, "So Hicks is Marina?"

"Well, you’re going to ask Stuart that!"

The question seemed to please the person on the other end of the line. He started to laugh wildly, and the sharp noise stung in Anna’s ear. Anna frowned, and the masculine voice stopped when she tried to speak. Then the man hung up.

Anna held the phone. She seemed to understand something, but it seemed to be a bit confusing.

"Why do I ask Stuart? Does Stuart know the answer?"

According to Hicks’s directions, Stuart drove further and further out of the way, and they drove in narrow alleys just wide enough for one car. Hicks watched as the rough wall was only a few inches away from the car, and she looked horrified, "If you don’t be careful, Mr. Yates. You could ruin your car. The road here is not so good."

Stuart asked her, "Do I turn left or right?"

Hick’s froze and subconsciously replied, "Turn left."

Stuart turned the wheel, Hicks continued to direct the way, and both of them forgot the subject raised by Hicks. After driving for a long time, the car finally stopped in front of a dilapidated building. The environment was so gloomy that there was not even a street lamp. A Rolls-Royce parked by this building formed a stark contrast.

Stuart looked at the building with a frown on his face. "Is this where you live?"

In Stuart’s mind, it was no different from where the beggars lived. Hicks, who was a bit embarrassed, nodded, "Yes."

When she got to her destination, she realized that the drive was too short. She did not have much time to talk to Stuart. She put her hand on the door and started to open it. She hesitated for a moment as she pushed the door. Hick’s looked up into the dark corridor, as if she was trying to make up her mind and then shyly turned back towards Stuart.

"A...Mr. Yates, I’m sorry, but can I bother you? The light in the corridor is broken, and I am a little afraid. Would you mind taking me upstairs?"

It had to be said that Hicks was the most empathetic type of woman. Her dark skin, thin body, and her sad cloudy eyes were full of tears. She spoke softly, as if afraid of offending someone. She was cautious that people could not help but want to take care of her. Even Eddie, because of these appearances, took the initiative to stand up for herself.

Hicks raised her head to look at Stuart. He seemed to be able to see through her mind, and it was unsettling, but she could not see through him. Stuart’s eyes fell on her, as though he saw someone else through her.

Stuart didn’t answer her, but he got out of the car and started to walk with her. Hicks was in a daze, and Stuart helped her open the door. She knew in an instant that he was going with her upstairs!
