Chapter 217: Chapter 217: Showed No Emotion
Terrible anguish struck his heart, and he felt a dreadful ache as if something had been taken away from him. Stuart’s hands dropped to his side, and he gradually clenched his fists in frustration. It seemed as though he was struggling with his emotional distress.
Stuart’s face was motionless, and then he had finally made up his mind, "Okay, let’s go to the hospital."
The sound of Stuart’s voice was like an alarm clock in her brain. He had his back to Anna so he could not see the undisguised joy in her face. They went to the hospital together.
Standing in front of the VIP room, Anna said, "Hicks is inside. She has just had blood drawn, and she was taken to get a CT and is now resting. Dior’s staff have already talked to her, and they only said that you have the intention of working with her when this is all done. They just told her they needed a detailed health check-up if she were to be chosen for the audition. They did not reveal your real identity."
After a moment of grappling with his mixed emotions, Stuart looked at the door and said, "It’s hard on you, isn’t it?"
Anna bit down on her lower lip and reluctantly started to speak, "According to the medical information, her age and blood type are a match. She had memory loss a decade ago. Next, they will check if she’s had plastic surgery. When the results of the detailed physical examination come back, her DNA will be compared with Marina’s. If they are correct, then it can be confirmed that she is Marina. You should mentally prepare yourself."
His eyes flickered from Anna to the door, but his face still showed no emotion, "I know, I am prepared."
Then he opened the door of the VIP room and went in. In the ward, Hicks was sitting on the hospital bed, drinking the medication the nurse had prepared for her. She was wearing a hospital gown as she had just changed for the examination.
Hicks had tanned skin, a shade that brought out the depth of honey in her skin. She had dark brown eyes that sparkled when she smiled. Stuart looked at her intently and thought she was more beautiful than he had remembered.
Her expression on her face looked angelically innocent. Stuart quickly glanced at her eyes, and then suddenly, he thought of Eddie. Hick’s eyes reminded him of Eddie. They were two very different people, and Hick’s and Eddie had nothing in common.
When Hick’s heard the door open, she was startled and dropped her glass. She raised her head with a gentle smile, said, "Good evening, Mr. Yates."
She didn’t know Stuart’s identity, only that he had come to talk to her about working with her. Stuart walked into the ward and closed the door, and he sat down on the sofa, which was not far from the bed.
"Do you mind if I ask you some personal questions? I don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable."
Stuart’s attitude towards strangers was alienation and indifference. Hicks nodded in agreement, "Director Leach has already spoken to me, and I understand. Oh, I almost forgot. No, I don’t mind. I mean, if you ask me some personal questions, that is."
"Have you ever lost your memory?" Stuart didn’t waste any time and went straight to the questions.
"Yes, how did you know that?" Hicks nodded, then shrugged her shoulders as if she wasn’t interested.
"That was many years ago. I spent several months in the hospital, and the hospital was informed that I was in danger several times. I was rescued, but I am not sure by who. Everything is very vague. The doctors told me that I had severe memory loss."
There was a frown of disapproval on Stuart’s face, "So you don’t remember anything?"
Hick’s just smiled and shook her head, "No, I don’t remember anything. When I first got sick, I remembered a little bit. Then whenever I would try to remember something from my past, I would get a horrible headache. So eventually I just gave up and didn’t think about it anymore."
Then Hicks suddenly burst into laughter, "It’s a little strange though, I have this weird feeling. This is the first time that I have meant it, but you look so familiar."
Stuart looked at Hicks’s face, and his gaze grew intense. He carefully studied her with mixed emotions in his eyes.
"What’s the matter?" Hicks asked as her heart started beating faster, "Do you have any more questions?"
Stuart was so handsome. His eyes looked so deeply meaningful as though they had magic powers. Under such a gaze, no woman could have remained calm.
Stuart looked back and said, "No, I think that’s about it. The endorsement is important. We take the health of the spokesperson very seriously."
"It’s okay, even if I’m not chosen in the end, I can accept it. After all, my condition is so rare, and I’m getting a bit used to it."
Hicks brought a smile to her mouth, and Stuart’s heart was full of sadness. He knew that she must have suffered a lot over the years. But that was something that he could not ask.
Hicks plucked up the courage to ask, "So, since the physical examination is done. Can I leave the hospital now? I don’t know why, but I always feel uncomfortable here. It’s as though I feel some kind of psychological pressure."
Stuart retracted all the emotion in his eyes, resumed his cold indifference, and nodded, "Yes, I’ll take you to wherever you want to go."
A glimpse of surprise flashed through Hicks’s eyes, "Really? Thank you so much. Do you mind waiting for me to get dressed?"
"No, not at all," Stuart replied, and then he left the room. Hicks was now alone in the room, and she couldn’t help herself from smiling. A rush of excitement sent color to her cheeks.
"Stuart, what do you think? Do you think she is really Marina?" Anna asked as soon as Stuart came out. Instead of answering Anna’s question, Stuart said, "I’ll take her home later. I’ll ask Ivan to take you home."
The smile on Anna’s face suddenly froze. She clenched her hand and held it tight against her mouth so no sound would escape. First, there was Eddie, and now there is Marina, but still, Stuart treats her this way. Would Stuart ever have her in his eyes?
Ivan soon arrived at the hospital. As soon as she came around the corner, Anna heard the door close to the VIP room. She widened her eyes then narrowed them in an attempt to focus.
She stepped to the side to observe them. Stuart and Hicks walked down the side of the stairs. Anna’s eyes were blazing with anger, and her hands beat against the wall. Right at that moment, when Hicks was about to fall, Stuart grabbed her arm and pulled her up. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
"Be careful," Stuart said, and his eyes clouded with belated concern. Hick’s face turned even redder, and she whispered, "Thank you."
Anna could only feel bitterness and anger in her heart. He touched her! Today, when she was downstairs at the Dior headquarters, she pretended to fall down.
She hoped that Stuart would help her up. Stuart only gently pulled her clothes. But now, he touched another woman!
