Chapter 177: Chapter 177: Set A Fire
As her dream continued, Stuart was going to divorce her? Although she knew this day would come right from the beginning, nothing could explain the sadness that she felt in her heart. She was so upset, and she could hardly breathe. Eddie opened her mouth as if she were about to speak, but she did not know what to say.
"I..."
Stuart immediately knew what she was going to say and the expression on his face changed, "I don’t want to do it? Do you want to be stuck with me forever? Donald, don’t want you, do you think I still want you?"
"No! No!" She swallowed a sob and opened her mouth to speak and shut it again, shaking her head. She stared blankly at him, and she wanted to tell him how much she missed him.
"You can just send the agreement to the company. I don’t have time to deal with you."
When Stuart was finished talking, he turned around and left. Eddie wanted to go after him, but her head was spinning from all the information. Her body was on fire, she was shaking, and her thoughts were so scattered. Then she sat up from the bed.
The nightmare made Eddie wake up in a cold sweat, and the pajamas she was wearing were soaked. She took a deep breath and realized she had returned to the real world.
"It was only a dream..."
She had no idea what time it was and glanced out her window and looked at the dark sky, and she thought that it must be about midnight. Eddie lowered her head and reached out to touch her forehead. Her throat was burning and felt dry, so she decided she would get up and get a glass of water.
She wiped the sweat on her forehead with the sleeve of her pajamas. She got out of bed and poured herself a glass of water. She walked into the living room of the suite and drank the water. After drinking it, she felt better. Her heart was beating fast, and it seemed to calm her down.
She put the glass down and started to go back to her room and hadn’t gotten very far when she thought she could smell something burning. At first, she thought she was mistaken, but the smell of smoke lingered in the room. She didn’t know where it was coming from, but it appeared to be close.
She quickly turned on the light and was shocked at what she found. It was almost in front of her, and the curtain by the window was on fire. The room was quickly filling with smoke. She was literally shaking with fear, "God, how could the curtains caught on fire!" ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
Eddie was shocked and took a step back, and the glass in her hand fell to the ground and shattered to pieces. The sound of the broken glass made her come out of her daze, and she realized that she had no time to waste. She quickly walked back to the bedroom, grabbed a coat, and changed her shoes, and started to leave the room. Then she realized she had forgotten her purse and went back into the room. It was only a matter of a second, and when she came out, the fire had spread more rapidly.
Suddenly, there were a few bottles of unknown origin that were thrown through the window. Eddie was frightened and stepped back. The bottle fell to the floor and shattered. The liquid inside flowed all over the floor. The smell of alcohol instantly filled the air.
"Why did I go back to my room?" This thought flashed through her mind, but it was already too late. Some of the alcohol had spread onto the curtains. The flames instantly became big and high. The fire spread widely and even burned through the fabric of the sofa.
First, set a fire, then throw bottles filled with alcohol. It was clear that there was someone who wanted to kill her! She covered her mouth and made her way quickly to the door. Trying to open the door to escape, she found that no matter how hard she twisted, the handle did not move.
Someone broke the lock. Who was it? Who wanted to kill her? Outside the window, the bottles were continually being thrown in. Every time the glass fell to the floor, Eddie felt that the sound of the broken glass was pushing her closer to hell.
The fire was getting more and more fierce, and the whole living room had become a sea of fire. Eddie suddenly remembered that her phone was still on the bedside table. She made up her mind and covered her mouth and ran to the room.
Eddie ran to the bedroom in confusion, she rushed to the bedside table and grabbed her mobile phone. She didn’t know why, but the first number she wanted to dial was not 911, but Stuart’s number. She came to her senses and dialed the emergency number. The resort was in a remote location, and the fire trucks would take too long to get there. She knew they would never make it to her in time.
Then without hesitating, she quickly called Rhonda. The phone rang a few times, and finally, Rhoda answered. Rhonda wasn’t fully alert as she had just woken up, Eddie, what’s wrong? Are you feeling okay?"
"Rhoda... It’s on fire...I can’t breathe...Help."
The fire was spreading, and the thick smoke was filling the room rapidly. She decided to take a deep breath, but it was too difficult as the room was filling too fast. She tried to make her way through the thick smoke, but it was impossible.
"What? Where is the fire? Is it in your room?" Rhoda instantly woke up.
"Yes, please help..."
"Eddie, get on the floor quick, I will be there soon!"
Eddie hung up the phone but had no feeling of hope. Her mind was racing as she thought that this was the end. She closed her eyes as the smoke invaded her lungs. Every breath she took became more difficult.
Then suddenly, she remembered something that she had learned in safety class. That most of the people who die in a fire were not from being burned to death but were killed by the smoke! Eddie’s face showed a bitter smile and thought to herself that maybe, this was how her life was supposed to end. She had no way to escape now, nowhere to go, perhaps it was really her time to die. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
She didn’t want to die, and she had to fight. She took out her phone again and finally dialed the number of the person she had been longing to talk to. She knew that he wouldn’t pick it up, even if he disappeared without a trace. But she was desperate and helpless, and at this very moment, the only person she thought of was him.
There was more and more smoke filling the room. There she laid in the fetal position with her head buried crying hysterically. Because her eyes were blurred with tears, she could barely see, and she did not notice that the number that she had dialed had not said, "the number you have dialed has been turned off" as usual. She had actually gotten through.
Because of the lack of oxygen to her brain, she just laid there motionless, waiting for the inevitable to happen. She knew she was going to die. Her thoughts were scattered, and it was as though she had drifted off into a dream.
She remembered hearing that when people died, they would experience a lifetime of happiness. She did not see anything, and she could only see the boundless smoke. She gave up struggling and closed her eyes.
She didn’t know how long it had been like a century. Like a few minutes, but suddenly, there was a loud noise outside. She completely lost consciousness. When she opened her eyes, everything was blurry, and the remaining awareness in her mind sounded like a helicopter.
She could hear the sound of the glass breaking, and it sounded like an electric drill was cutting the security window. The hotel window was dismantled entirely. She didn’t know if it was an illusion. Through her tears, she seemed to see a tall figure walking to her through the fire.
