Chapter 172: Chapter 172: An Exclusive Preview

The next morning, Joanna got up early. After preparing breakfast, she started reading the entertainment newspaper. She assumed her picture with director Lane would be on the front page.

Suddenly her smile froze and entirely disappeared when she opened the paper. Donald walked downstairs and saw all the food on the table. He sat down, and she wouldn’t even look at him.

Holding the paper in her hands, she sat there very still and had a troubled look on her face. With her long hair covering her face, he could not see her facial expression. Donald tried his best to pretend to be gentle and considerate, "Joanna, thank you for making breakfast."

She lifted up her head and looked at him. There was no look of softness or tenderness in her face. He could only feel a coldness in her manner.

Joanna started to say, "Darling, is there something that you would like to tell me?" She said in a shallow voice, "Where did you go yesterday?"

Donald was not expecting her to ask him this question, and he pretended to act normal as he looked at her from across the table. "I told you where I was going. I went to my company yesterday."

The corner of her mouth turned in a small smile, and there was something hidden in her eyes.

"I wanted to ask you about what happened yesterday. Why did you come back later than me?"

Donald couldn’t help but feel guilty by her questions. He was running out of patience, and he tried to explain, "I had too much work to do at the company. You knew that, didn’t you?"

After hearing Donald’s lie, she started to break down in tears. She threw the newspaper at him, and her smile disappeared.

"I was informed that Edie was one of your colleagues."

The mention of Edie’s name made Donald’s heart beat faster and faster. He had a bad feeling. He picked up the newspaper quickly. On top of the paper, he found the answer.

It read, "Secret visit! The story between Joanna’s fiancée and Edie. An exclusive preview of all you need to know."

In the following article, there were also two pictures. The first picture was of Edie and Donald leaving the storage room. The time of the photograph was taken precisely. After Edie came out, Donald followed five minutes later.

The paper described the press viewing of The White Love Song. Yesterday, the director expressed his admiration for Edie, but she never showed up. Everyone thought it was because she was injured, but what no expected is that she would be with Donald. Apparently, they were close to one another. Donald’s fiancée, Joanna Bella, also came to the spot. Donald was seen with another actress while his own fiancée was in the area. Would that have an impact on their engagement?

At the end of the report, there was another picture. It was a picture of the room they had been secretly hiding in, an image of the storage room. As there were lots of props placed in the room, it was narrow inside, and there was a small amount of space left in the room.

"What are these two gorgeous people doing in this room? It is quite apparent, as you can see from the photograph."

The reporter kept guessing and guiding the readers viciously through the newspaper.

When Donald was finished reading the paper, he raised his head abruptly, "Joanna, this is not the truth. You have to trust me." Right at that moment, Joanna hated him for doing this to her. She clenched her fists tightly, trying calmly to take a deep breath.

She turned her questioning eyes on Donald and shook her head in disbelief, "Trust you? The evidence is right here in front of me. How can I believe you or anyone else for that matter?"

Donald could see how upset Joanna was, and he remembered the reason why he was engaged to her. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

She was more than an actress, and she was also part of the Decade Group and the only daughter of the Greg’s, it was enough for him. It was because of this reason that the Lynch’s wanted them to marry each other. He gradually calmed himself down.

He could not lose Joanna before he became the heir of the Lynch. These thoughts flashed through his mind and reminded himself of the benefits he would gain from their marriage. With sincerity in his eyes, he raised his head and looked her into her eyes, "Joanna, I love you. I never cared about Edie."

"Then why did you go to see her?"

Donald pretended to be angry, "You know, Edie would not leave me alone. I thought she would stop after marrying Stuart, but she threatened me again yesterday. If I refused to see her, she said she was going to expose something and it involved you. I know how much you love your job. I couldn’t refuse because I was not going to allow her to destroy your reputation."

She hid her despair well as she did not believe a word that he said, "Then, what did she tell you?"

"You know that woman. She begged me to give her one more chance. It was exactly like what she did last year."

You could hear the compassion in his voice when he was lying to her; he almost believed it himself. Donald looked pitiful, but as he was only an amateur actor, Joanna was a professional. She immediately saw the guilt on his face, and Joanna knew he was lying.

She was burning with anger but managed to keep a smile on her face. While staring at Donald, she remained silent, and then suddenly, the tears started rolling down her cheeks. He felt ashamed and stood up immediately and held her in his arms, "Darling, calm down. You have to believe me, and I am telling you the truth. Please, don’t cry. You are breaking my heart."

The more she heard, the harder she found it to believe him. She started to shake and cried even harder, "Donald, I have a terrible feeling that I am going to lose you."

"That is impossible. Don’t think of such a thing, and it is going to be okay?"

Her lower lip was trembling as she tried to hold back her tears. She shook her head sadly, "I feel as though I don’t know who you are anymore. Why do you keep everything from me? You treat me as if I were an outsider."

He held her close, and then he kissed on the cheek, "I promise I will tell you everything from now on, okay?"
