Chapter 171: Chapter 171: I Didn’t Hear Anything

As the sound of the step approached, Donald reacted quickly, and he locked the door of the property room. Whoever was at the door tried to open it, he was confused and asked, "Why is the door locked?"

Shaw, the stage supervisor, started walking towards him. He explained, "This is our property room. It is used to put some props in it that is used for the film. It may be locked to prevent them from being stolen. I can get the key from the logistics group."

Edie’s heart beat faster and faster. The reporter that wanted to open the door and he waved his hands, "Don’t bother. I thought I heard a voice coming from inside. I thought there was someone in there."

"You must be hearing things. I didn’t hear anything."

The reporter sighed and rubbed his head, "Maybe."

Joanna was surrounded by the crowd and did not notice the conversation that was going on. There must have been a reason why she showed up at the production today.

Joanna smiled after answering several questions from the reporters, "My friends, today is for The White Love Song. I came here just for a visit. Why don’t we go say hi to the director?"

She had achieved much in the entertainment circle, and she was more experienced than Edie in dealing with people. She was starting to run out of patience, but she never showed it. Instead, she answered their questions without any hesitation.

The reporters came here for the White-Love-Song, and after they heard what she suggested, they all agreed. In their mind, she was quite respectable. Therefore, they walked towards the director with Joanna.

When the director saw her, he was surprised. He smiled and gave Joanna a big hug. The reporters never stopped; they were still taking pictures of them. She was quite proud of herself as she knew that she would get in tomorrow’s big news on the entertainment column.

As the sound of the crowd gradually faded out, Edie was still afraid to go out. She waited until she was sure that nobody was around and she turned towards Donald.

Then without looking back, she opened the door quickly and left. Donald did not try to stop her. He followed Edie as he walked out of the property room, and he lowered his head out of embarrassment.

"Click" Standing in the dark corner, and a reporter took several pictures of them. After they left, the reporter walked out, "See, I knew I didn’t hear things."

As an experienced director, the director was quite respected by the reporters, and they all focused on the drama. Since Edie had not attended the news conference, the director provided an explanation for her. He expressed his admiration, professional dedication, and excellent performance on her behalf.

When the interview was over, all the reporters were invited to the hotel for dinner. The director grinned with delight and said to Joanna, "Would you like to have dinner with us?"

Joanna smiled and pretended to be sympathetic, "I wish I could stay, but I have made other plans. I just wanted to stop by and visit you today. I wasn’t expecting the media to be here today, and I hope I didn’t cause you any trouble?"

"It was my honor. I appreciate you coming to visit me. The least you could do is allow me to treat you to dinner next time. We could maybe talk about another script?"

"Okay, I am looking forward to it."

Then, the director left with all the reporters. As soon as he was out of Joanna’s sight, the smile that was on her face immediately disappeared. She walked quickly into the makeup room and saw someone standing at the door.

"Is Sophia in there?"

The assistant nodded, "Yes, she is waiting for you."

Joanna opened the door, and as she expected, Sophia was standing in front of the mirror. When Joanna looked at her, she noticed how pale she was.

Sophia saw her immediately and stood up, "Joanna, you’re here."

Then she turned around and said to Sophia’s assistant, "You can leave now. I need to discuss something with Miss Bella. Please do not let anyone in."

"Okay." Just as soon as the assistant left, Joanna glared at Sophia, "Did I not tell you to get along with Edie? What the hell have you done? How could you have done such a thing? You hit her."

Joanna sounded so angry that Sophia did not know how to respond, "I.....I did not mean to do it."

"Do not tell me these excuses. They will not work on me. You swear you never thought about it?"

Since they first met, Sophia had been involved in her scheme to get revenge on Edie. She precisely knew what Sophia was planning.

Hearing Joanna’s words, Sophia did not know how to get her to trust her. She clenched her teeth out of anger and said, "I have to acknowledge that I did think about it. I hate her. Mr. Yates cared about her so much that he did not even accept my toast. We all slept with others to get resources. She is not superior to me, but I can tell that she despises me. Why would she do this?"
