Chapter 169: Chapter 169: Do Not Play This Game With Me
Edie was not severely hurt. To accommodate her movement, the doctor used thin plaster on her arm. By being pulled sharply, she felt more pain.
"It hurts!"
After hearing what she said, the man asked her nervously, "Have you been hurt? What happened?" The voice sounded really familiar, and immediately she raised her head. It was from Donald Lynch!
"Why are you here?" Edie asked him, She stepped away from him, holding her injured arm. She vividly remembered what he did to her at the Beck Mansion. Yet, the man who was standing in front of her seemed different and nothing like the man who had attacked her.
Donald Lynch, the son of a well-known family, was here. There must be some reason, and she had a bad feeling as to why. Seeing her look so defensive, Donald looked sad. He didn’t know what to say to her because he knew the last time he saw her he had tried to kill her.
"What happened to your arm??"
"Nothing. It’s not a big deal." Edie did not want to tell him anything. No matter what his reason was for coming here, she did not want to stay with him alone.
She looked around and realized that Donald pulled her into one of the rooms of the crew. With all the props in the room, there was no space for them to move around. It was quite narrow, and they were standing very close to one another.
Edie recalled what happened in the warehouse of the Beck Mansion last time. She felt sick to her stomach and stared at him coldly, "If you do not have anything else to say to me, I need to leave now."
"Do not move," he ordered as he glared into Edie’s eyes.
Hearing the tone in his voice, Edie got mad, "You do not have the right to stop me. I do not want to be in the same room as you. Why won’t you leave me alone?"
"All right, you do not want to stay with me. What about, the Sea of Stars? Do you not want it anymore?"
"The necklace," Edie’s heart started to beat fast. With everything that had been going on, she completely forgot about it.
Donald was a little sad because the only thing that remained in their relationship was based on the necklace. In the morning, when he had finished his business in the southern part of the city, he remembered that Edie was shooting a play at the vacation villa. He was very cautious when he arrived because he thought there might be some security who may try to stop him from entering.
But there was no one there, and he felt that God was helping him. It was also the day of the press viewing, and to accommodate the reporters, all the gates were left open. When he had arrived, he could not find Edie amongst the crowd.
He stood aside from the crowd as he did not want to be photographed by the reporters. He did not plan to talk to Edie. All he wanted was to see her. Then she started to walk towards him.
When he saw her, Donald became excited. Then he immediately lost the ability to think about anything. Before thinking it through, he pulled her into the property room.
After hearing Donald mention the necklace, she madly stared at him, "What do you mean? Are you going to return it to me? You are not that kind of guy. If you want to use it to threaten me, then stop dreaming. I do not trust you anymore."
Donald planned to talk to her peacefully. But after hearing her words, he got furious, "Do not try and pretend. I know all your activities these days."
Edie froze, "What does it mean?"
"I have been following you for a while. Someone had my apartment searched, but nothing was missing. Do you have any idea who would do this?"
Edie wanted to get out of there and no longer wanted to talk to him, "It wasn’t me."
"Even if it wasn’t you. I am sure it has something to do with your husband."
As soon as he mentioned Stuart, a sudden silence fell in the room. She knew that Stuart was involved in something terrible, but she knew he would not have the time to do it. She wasn’t going to inform Donald of this as it was none of his business. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
She hated it when Stuart kept things from her, but from the bottom of her heart, she knew he was her partner.
After getting no response from Edie, Donald thought he was right. He was outraged and started to slowly approach her, "Edie, if you wanted to get your necklace back then all you needed to do is come to me and ask. You do not need to play games, and I would have told you the truth. I will keep it because I do not want Stuart to have it."
"Shame on you! It is my necklace. Now you use it as a bargaining chip to negotiate with me."
Donald looked fierce and depressed at the same time.
"So what? Since I am the one who has it, I am the one who decides its fate."
Edie was shocked after she heard his bold words. She could not believe that he was once her gentle and kind boyfriend. What happened to him? Why has he wholly changed?
Edie took a deep breath. She tried her best to calm herself down, "Donald, I do not want to quarrel with you. That necklace does not mean anything to you. Why will you not sell it to me? It doesn’t matter how much you want, and I will pay whatever you want."
Hearing this, Donald sneered, "Do you think I actually need money? As the heir of Hawk Real Estate Co., Ltd., I have no worries about money."
"Then what do you want? Why will you not give it back to me?"
Edie was perplexed and couldn’t understand why he was behaving in such a manner. Staring at her, Donald asked, "Anything?"
Edie replied coldly, "We are grown-ups. Do not play this game with me. As long as I can afford it, I will give it to you."
He glared at her, and his gaze was penetrating and direct. He stirred desire and fear within her. He stepped towards her and pushed her against the wall. Then he pinched her lower jaw and kissed her.
