Chapter 153: Chapter 153: Making Amend
Stuart’s eyes looked at Edie’s neck, "Do you think you can act like that?" Edie didn’t understand what he was talking about until he saw where his eyes fell. Her neck was full of hickeys and bruises that could not be completely covered with makeup. This would have been even more noticeable in the lighting of the film.
Edie felt even more embarrassed. Who had done this to her? Did he also have a face?
"Okay, I’ll go out even if I don’t go to the show." Edie gritted his teeth and agreed. She paused and said, "I just don’t want to be in the same place where you are right now!"
"Mr. Sampson, arrange the car," Stuart had a somber tone and gave the orders coldly. Mr. Sampson, who had watched him grow up since he was a child, knows that at this moment, he will be worse if she leaves. Just now, in the kitchen, no matter how small of a procedure it was, he did all of the cooking with his own hands. He never told Edie that he did it all for her.
His Master Yates, his exalted Master Yates, his mouth turned up, and he cooked for a woman in a way that the queen of England could not. But in the end, it turned out like this. Edie walked out without looking back. She had just reached the door when she heard Stuart’s voice.
"I’ll see you in the Villa before ten o’clock tonight." freēwēbnovel.com
Hearing this, Edie turned her head and retorted to Stuart, "Why, I don’t even have the right to leave when I want? Stuart, you can’t restrict my freedom."
"Since you have a connection with Aaron, you must know that my family has arrived in the city. You are my partner, shouldn’t you join me to make this play look real?"
Edie trembled slightly and tried to contradict, but she could not. She should have been brave enough to say at this point that she did not want to work with Stuart anymore. That the contract was canceled, then they would tell everyone that they were separated and that there would be no need to bother one another.
But she couldn’t. The necklace was too important for her to take a little risk and had to be brought back. Stuart was the best chance she could get it back. Edie laughed at herself, knowing that she was always inferior to him.
There was a class distance between them, how could they be equal? Without further rebuttal, Edie went straight to the door, and Mr. Sampson, who had no idea of her attitude, stood still for a moment and followed.
Outside the Villa, the early morning sun had risen and shone on Edie, a warm feeling that made her feel like she was alive. Mr. Sampson got the car for Edie and opened the door for her. When she was seated, Mr. Sampson hesitated before closing the door, "Mrs. Yates, you wrongly blamed Master Yates.
Hearing this, Edie seemed to have no idea what Mr. Sampson meant. What was Stuart doing? Is he making amends? He thought that she should be grateful that the vulnerable Master Yates himself prepared a meal for her.
She could not remember the taste of the bowl of tomato and egg noodles she had swallowed whole. She did not think that Stuart could make up for her injury by making her a meal. Edie took a breath and, after a while, said quietly, "I see, Mr. Sampson, you can go back inside now."
Mr. Sampson had no alternative, but to watch Edie’s car leave, then gave a little sigh and began to worry about his Master Yates. Master Yates’s emotional well-being is bothering him. He went back to the Villa and saw Stuart still sitting at the table.
He was staring at the bowl of noodles Edie had eaten, wondering what he was thinking. A warm breakfast, like Stuart, had been cold. He was kind to her, but she didn’t care. Mr. Sampson, looking hard, volunteered, "Master Yates, you haven’t eaten yet. Do you want some?"
"It’s all gone," said Stuart flatly. Then he got up and went to the second floor. It was always straight to work, but there was a strange silence. Mr. Sampson shook his head helplessly and told Carol, "Get to it." frёewebηovel.cѳm
Once out of the house, Edie didn’t know where to go. She let the driver follow the road casually, looking at the heavy traffic outside. Then she unexpectedly had the feeling that she had no idea where she wanted to go. How could her life have ended up like this?
Then she thought, "By the way, Aaron!" He cheated her so badly, shouldn’t she have asked him for the truth? With a purpose, Edie’s mind immediately returned to her senses, allowing the driver to drive to the nearest department store and instructing him to go back first, under the pretext of her going to the convention street.
Once out of the car, Edie found a secluded spot and dialed Aaron directly. Aaron quickly connected.
"What’s the matter, sister? Is Stuart still mad at you?" Aaron’s voice was as usual, unchanged. Edie now hears Aaron’s voice and has nothing but hatred in her heart. She grasped her phone tightly and asked in a cold voice, "Aaron, why did you lie to me?"
Aaron paused for a moment, then said, "What are you talking about, sister? What did I lie to you about? How can you make me understand?" Edie almost gritted his teeth and said, "Stuart is not gay! You are still going to lie to me when I know the truth?!"
On the other end of the line, there was a moment of silence before Aaron said, "You know everything?" Edie continued, "Who the hell do you think you are? Stuart’s sexuality is normal, so you can’t be his lover, who are you? For what purpose? You lied to me for so long, shouldn’t you give me an explanation?"
After a moment’s thought, Aaron seemed determined and said, "This is too complicated to say on the phone. You tell me where you are, and I’ll pick you up. We can talk to each other then." There was no immediate answer, but at least Aaron was willing to explain it. Edie just merely told him the address of the department store.
"Sister, please wait for me, I’ll be right there."
With that, Aaron hung up. Edie sat quietly in a chair on the ground floor, and for some reason, she had a horrible feeling. The more she thought about it, the more she realized that Aaron was hiding a huge conspiracy.
