Chapter 152: Chapter 152: Her Resentment
When Edie woke up, she was in a trance and didn’t know if it was real or a dream. It was the feeling of soreness that brought her to her senses. The madness of last night in her mind, the vague images that struck her once again, was almost unbearable.
Her hands trembled as she lifted the quilt and her eyes turned red at the sight of a huge red hickey on her neck, and the tears fell down uncontrollably. She didn’t know what else to do but cry. She didn’t even know who to blame.
Did she blame Stuart? He never said he was gay, and she never asked him. She just assumed that he was, so who can she blame? Did she blame Aaron? Because what Aaron said, she readily believed it. Was she too trusting?
Edie felt like a boat drifting on the sea, alone, helpless, not sure where to go. She curled up in bed and cried for a long time before she finally got out of bed and sauntered into the bathroom.
Through the mirror in the bathroom, she saw more clearly how frustrated she was now, and her face suddenly lost color. The madman! He’s crazy! Edie turned on the shower and began to wash hard. She could smell Stuart’s scent still lingering on her body as though it was deep into her skin, and she could never get rid of it.
Edie eventually squatted on the bottom of the tub, letting the cold water wash over her body. She covered her face and cried. She did not know how long she had been in the shower, and when her skin was left wrinkly, she came out of the bathroom and went to her wardrobe.
All over her body were the marks of embarrassment, which could not be washed away, and Edie got a long-sleeved shirt and pants out of her wardrobe. She was expressionless and wrapped herself up and went out the door. As soon as she came downstairs, she saw Mr. Sampson smiling and greeting her, "Good morning Mrs. Yates."
Edie was in no mood. Only for the sake of politeness, she formed a stiff smile and forced a reply, "Morning." She did not know if it was her psychological role and always found Mr. Sampson’s smile very meaningful. She didn’t want to ask, didn’t want to explore, didn’t want to be with anyone right now. She just wanted to run away.
"Mr. Sampson, I am going back to the show, and I won’t be back this week."
He immediately noticed something was wrong with Edie and quickly asked, "Will Mrs. Yates go without breakfast?"
"No, I have no appetite." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
Edie shook her head, turned, and walked towards the door. Before she had taken two steps, she heard a cold voice behind her, "Sit down and have breakfast." His voice made Edie shudder and stop.
He was not asking her, but commanding her. She did not have to look back to see how ugly Stuart looked at the moment. Now she did not care. She did not know how she would feel when she saw Stuart again and how to sit calmly across from him.
Edie stopped for only a second and continued toward the door without looking back. Mr. Sampson looked at her and then at Stuart. He thought it was a little unpleasant, but it was so severe that he didn’t know what to do at the moment.
Before Edie had even reached the door, she heard a sudden "clunk" coming from the door. When she reached out again to twist the handle, the door wouldn’t open. She turned around quickly and saw Stuart standing nearby. One hand in his trouser pocket and the other with the remote, his face was silent and cold.
Edie knew that Stuart was angry, but she was even angrier! At the sight of Stuart, her mind went back to the scenes from last night. For her, all the touching and all the rough aggression was all it took for her to feel outraged.
Brought back by Stuart’s appearance, she looked at him more coldly, "Master Yates, what do you think you are doing?" She called him Master Yates! In his ears, Stuart lost his enthusiasm for getting her breakfast up early this morning, and his eyes suddenly turned cold like icy blades on her.
"To breakfast now."
At the tone of Stuart’s voice, a fire rose in Edie’s heart. How could he command her? Even if he’s the CEO of the L.N. Group, she’s not a subordinate to him. She didn’t have a good temper and said coldly, "I don’t want to eat it."
"You can’t go out if you don’t eat."
Stuart did not force her to and went straight back to the room. Edie’s eyes were red with anger, and the tears were starting in the corner of her eyes, but she kept biting her lower lip to keep them from falling.
Yes, he was arrogant, and she didn’t want to listen to him, "Good, I will see what your head office has to say!" Edie’s voice trembled as she said these words. She clenched her teeth and went back to the dining room. She sat down at the table without looking at him.
She grabbed a bowl of tomato and egg noodles and started to eat without lifting her head. She was so angry that she couldn’t care less about the taste of the food. She just swallowed it ravenously and forced herself to eat it.
Stuart sat on the other side of the table and saw her looking like this. His brow furrowed slightly, and his hands were placed on the table, clenched unconsciously into fists. She ate so fast that she could not even take care of her appearance. The soup spilled and dripped on the table.
The dining room was silent. Mr. Sampson and Carol looked in each other’s eyes and saw the worry, but no one dared to speak. Edie swallowed the last of the noodles and rubbed her mouth hard. She looked straight into Stuart’s eyes, and all he could see was the anger on her face.
"Master Yates, are you satisfied now?"
Stuart looked at the table. He had worked so hard to make a meal for her. She didn’t eat all of it. She just finished only half of the bowl. A piece of mind had utterly been let down.
When Edie saw Stuart was silent and thought he was regretful again, she retorted, "Why, are you still not satisfied? What is it that you want from me? You don’t own me, are you going to imprison me for life?!"
This is too much. When someone talks to Stuart like this, Mr. Sampson, seeing the atmosphere between the two, tried to get around it by saying, "Mrs. Yates, Master Yates, he..."
"Want to go out, okay, but the cast need not go. Your body has not recovered, and I have asked a leave for you." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Stuart interrupted Mr. Sampson directly in a low, unsentimental voice. Edie got even angrier and glared at him, "How can you help me make decisions? It’s my job, and it’s my own business if I choose to go or not!"
