Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Feeling of Excitement
Karen feels a little troubled by Edie’s reactions toward Donald.
"Although Donald is unconscious, now would be a great opportunity for you to talk to him. You must have a lot that you want to say to him. I can step outside so you can have some privacy."
Edie looked at his pale face and felt nothing. His condition was under control, and there was no need for her to be there anymore.
"There is no need for you to do this. I really don’t have anything to say to him."
Karen couldn’t believe it. Surprise flashed over her face at Edie’s abrupt change in attitude. This was not the person, and she used to know. She thought that once she saw Donald, she would run into his arms without any hesitation. She never expected her to make such a decisive decision.
"You..."
"There is nothing to say, he is stable now, and I should leave."
Suddenly Karen was silent, "I want to give you something. Donald wanted me to give it to you and asked me to hang on to it until the time was right. Here it’s yours, and I want you to take it."
"No, it’s all meaningless, throw it out. I don’t want it. I don’t know how many times I have to tell you. What Donald and I had is gone. There’s no looking back, and it’s time to move forward."
Karen kept her eyes on Edie, watching her every movement. Edie sat there as though her mind was blank, showing no emotions. Karen sighed and said," Okay, but this is yours, and you need to have it. Just please take a look at it."
Karen took out a bank card and handed it to Edie. She took it and glanced at the card and understood what it meant right away. It was the card that Donald had given to her shortly after they met.
When she left Greg’s, he paid for Edie’s college tuition and many other things. He would always joke, saying, "When we get married, I am going to have this printed out, and every time you look at it, it will be a reminder of our love."
A year later, he was engaged to Joanna Bella. In the beginning, he had told Edie that the money was a gift from him. After his engagement, he said to her that she had to pay it all back. So, now this card was in Karen’s hand.
"He knows that you have this card?"
Karen shook her head. Edie looked her straight in the face with a sarcastic smile, "It turns out that you are cheating on him."
Karen lowered her head out of guilt, "We are doing what is best for him."
"Don’t blame me for not thinking about him. It seems that everyone around him lies for him. How can he think of me? When he doesn’t even know who I am?"
Karen couldn’t understand what he ever saw in her, "No wonder why, he looked at her like she was a stranger and refused to believe that he had been with her for five years. I now understand why she did her best and didn’t try to get him to remember her. Her love not only ended in Donald’s amnesia but also in the hands of a stranger."
Karen heard the ridicule in her voice. "The password has not changed. It is still your birthday. This card is for you and he wanted you to have it. There is no need for me to hang on to it anymore."
Edie did not refuse this time and put the card in her bag.
"My mission is complete, and now it is time for me to leave." Karen didn’t want to ask, "Is there really nothing that you want to say to Donald?"
Edie raised her head and looked Karen directly in the eyes and said plainly, "Please don’t let him think of me anymore, because I will never forgive him. I have learned to let go of things and the people that have hurt me in the past."
Her voice was soft but firm. Karen was stunned. It didn’t matter what she said. There was no getting through to her. Edie didn’t care about Karen’s reaction; she said what she had to say and turned around and left. Karen was still in a daze and looked up, and all she could see was a slender figure that disappeared around the corner.
Edie felt like she was suffocating. There was nowhere to go, she walked outside, and the skies were overcast, and it was chilly and damp. She felt as though her mood was worse than before.
When she first went to live with Greg’s, it was the same type of weather. The dark cloud seemed to be on the top of her head, with the feeling of the heavy rain and wind was going to fall on her, she walked into the house and walked into a nightmare of ten years.
She was humiliated by Mrs. Greg and then taken to the attic by the servant. On the first night of her new home, she was accompanied by hatred, glaring eyes that looked at her with shame and thunder and lightning. From that day on, she hated rainy weather.
Edie was looking for a taxi. She was brought here by Karen and didn’t have her car. While she was walking, she was thinking about her life and the pain that she had endured.
She didn’t know if she was unlucky because people who are unlucky will come across all things that are bad. Edie had walked a few hundred meters in the rain. She was getting tired and cold, she ran into a convenience store to hide from the rain, and she was going to wait until it stopped.
The rain only got heavier. She bought a tube of yogurt and sat down at the table. It wasn’t too long after, and her phone started to ring. She took out her phone and saw that it Stuart calling her. She felt empty inside and didn’t know if it was because she had just seen Donald, or was it something else?
When she thought about what she had just done, she didn’t feel guilty, but more uncomfortable. She technically was the legal wife of Stuart Yates. They had a marriage certificate, but she had seen her ex-boyfriend.
"Hey." The voice of Stuart was as low as usual. freewēbnoveℓ.com
"Hey, Stuart...Stuart."
Hearing Stuart’s voice, she hesitated and almost felt a little nervous. The night court was keenly aware and the mood of the music was not quite right, but after thinking about it, even if he asked what happened, she might not tell the truth, he asked. "Where are you now?"
"I am in a convenience store."
"Didn’t you go to the company?"
Avoiding the question, she said, "It’s raining, I didn’t bring an umbrella, and I came here to stay dry."
Stuart knew there was something wrong and frowned. He went to the office window, opened the heavy black curtains, only to find that there was heavy rain outside.
"What’s the address?" Stuart asked. Edie told him where she was.
"Don’t go anywhere, I will be there soon," and then he hung up. Edie was stunned. Stuart said that he would arrive soon, as he was personally picking her up?
The CEO of the L.N. Group, who was in the middle of working, suddenly leaves to pick her up in the afternoon. Is he trying to escape from work? In shock, she still had some expectations.
It was like when she was young, every time she lost her way, she stood in the same place and waited for her mother to pick her up. This was a sense of security. Stuart soon arrived with his expensive car and parked in front of the convenience store.
A dazzling car was incompatible with this slightly shabby convenience store. What would people think? He stepped out of the vehicle and entered the store.
The door opened, and the clerk looked up and said: "Welcome..." She was at a loss for words. As she looked up and all she could see was this charming man. He took her breath away. Of course, Stuart did not even look at her; he went straight to Edie and frowned. He looked her up and down again.
"You’re soaking wet. Why didn’t you call me earlier?"
Edie’s heart felt like it was going to burst. She smiled and shook her head, "It’s okay, I’m not too wet. I got here just in time."
"Are you hungry? It’s quite late and a little past dinner."
Edie touched her stomach and could feel it rumbling. She hadn’t even thought of food until Stuart mentioned it, and now she was starving. "Yes, a little bit."
"There is a nice restaurant that I like to go to sometimes, would you like to grab a bite to eat and then we can go home?"
When she heard the word "go home," Suddenly, a strange feeling of excitement soared through her body. A big smile came across her face, and now the sun was shining.
"That sounds really good."
