Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Tempting Conditions

"*History of Wizard Civilization*, *Origin of Magic Potions*..."

After Andre entered his room, he saw many books arranged on a bookshelf. By the light of a lamp, Andre made out their titles.

KNOCK, KNOCK! Before Andre could go over and look through the books, there was a knock on his door. Confused, Andre turned and opened it.

"Lady Huo Lin?" After opening the door, Andre froze. The person who had come to see him was Huo Lin.

"Yes. I’ve come because I hope you’ll make a choice."

Huo Lin looked at Andre, feeling a bit awkward as she spoke.

’For a High Level Wizard Apprentice like me to be here petitioning a new blood... it’s a bit much,’ she thought. But when she remembered the expedition ten years from now, Huo Lin spoke up.

These new bloods, Andre and the others, were her only chance in the next ten years. Whether the next mission to recruit new bloods would fall to her was anyone’s guess.

"A choice?" Andre looked at Huo Lin in surprise. ’Me? Make a choice?’

’Do I, a new blood who just entered the Wizard World, even have the right to choose?’

"When you reach White Stone Continent and it’s time to pick an academy, I hope you will choose mine, Cangsen Wizard Academy!"

Huo Lin stated her reason for seeking out Andre.

"Why?" Andre asked subconsciously. But when he saw the look on Huo Lin’s face and recalled what she and Duncan had said about the expedition ten years from now when they boarded the Flying Vessel, Andre understood.

"Yes, you’ve guessed it. But this isn’t a mandatory request, just something for you to consider."

Seeing that Andre didn’t press the issue, Huo Lin knew he had figured out the reason.

"Is the expedition that important?"

Andre pursed his lips and asked Huo Lin.

"Very important." Huo Lin glanced around. After confirming no one else had seen her, she entered the room and shut the door.

Andre was startled by Huo Lin’s actions. ’What is she doing?’

"When you were tested for your Talent, Victoria told you that Wizards are beings who pursue Truth."

"But there are some things that even Victoria has never encountered."

Huo Lin walked to the bookshelf near the door, took a book from it, and handed it to Andre.

"*History of Wizard Civilization, Volume Three*. This is required reading for new bloods like you after you enter a Wizard Academy. The knowledge recorded in this book is the very reason for the Wizards’ expeditions."

"Ancient Wizards, by a stroke of luck, created a form of Witchcraft that could traverse the Star Realm. It was called the Star Realm Gate."

"At the time, not many were willing to try this Witchcraft. No one knew what kind of world lay on the other side of the gate."

"This continued until a Level 3 Wizard found himself unable to sense Truth or construct his Ladder of Truth, no matter what he tried. He went to his elders and proposed using the Star Realm Gate Witchcraft for one last gamble."

"Initially, this Wizard’s elders were unwilling to let him take such a risk. But as more and more Wizards faced the same problem, the ancient Wizards of that era decided to help them."

"They allowed these Wizards, whose paths were blocked, to send representatives to use the Star Realm Gate and explore unknown worlds, hoping to continue accumulating Truth and build their Ladders of Truth."

"And it was precisely this decision by the ancient Wizards that ushered in an era of rapid development for Wizard Civilization."

"Among the first group of Wizard representatives, several fell in those unknown worlds. However, a good number of them managed to survive in the Otherworlds, where they witnessed different forms of Truth and successfully constructed their Ladders of Truth."

"As for that Level 3 Wizard who first proposed using the Star Realm Gate, he is now one of the Level 7 Truth Wizards in the Wizard’s Original World."

"With these successful examples before them, the Wizards’ desire for Otherworlds grew more fervent, and thus began the expeditions of the Wizard Civilization."

"So, Lady Huo Lin, you want to get me to join Cangsen Wizard Academy to earn a reward, which you’ll then use to participate in the expedition ten years from now!"

After Huo Lin finished speaking, Andre stated her motive.

"Yes, that’s right. But I can only offer you a suggestion. After you arrive on White Stone Continent, you can still choose another Wizard Academy. I cannot force your decision—that’s a rule in the Wizard World, so you can rest assured."

Huo Lin nodded, admitting her intentions.

"Understood, Lady Huo Lin. I will consider your suggestion."

Andre replied directly, without hesitation.

Andre’s response caught Huo Lin by surprise. She hadn’t expected him to give such a straightforward answer.

But then she thought about what she had just said and smiled. ’That clever boy, Andre!’

Andre agreeing to consider her suggestion had no bearing on whether he would actually choose Cangsen Wizard Academy. At most, her words would simply make him rank Cangsen Wizard Academy a little higher on his list of choices.

It was for this very reason that Huo Lin’s appreciation for Andre grew. freёwebnoѵel.com

If Andre had immediately guaranteed that he would choose her recommended Cangsen Wizard Academy, it wouldn’t be long before he was schemed against and killed within a Wizard Academy.

Wizards are beings who pursue Truth, one of the most intelligent civilizations in the Star Realm.

Being conventional, overly honest, rigid, formulaic, and never making mistakes—these principles, which might be praised in other worlds, were synonymous with being a fool in the Wizard World.

Wizards pursue Truth, and in that pursuit, the methods and approaches for seeking Truth change over time.

This model of knowledge required Wizards to have a greater capacity for accepting and incorporating new information.

The cleverness Andre had just displayed, though she saw through it at a glance, also proved that he was no fool in the Wizard World.

He wasn’t the type to believe whatever anyone told him. If Andre had agreed immediately, he would have proven himself a simpleton. At best, such a person would spend their entire life relying on their Talent Witchcraft to become a Level 1 Wizard.

Only those who were quick to accept new things and had flexible minds could survive for long in the Wizard World. Clearly, Andre was just such a person.

"Well, think it over. If you are willing to join Cangsen Wizard Academy, I am willing to introduce you to my mentor."

Huo Lin added an even more generous condition. An introduction to a mentor was an extremely special offer for a new blood like Andre, who had just entered the Wizard World.

Normally, even a new blood with exceptional Talent like Andre would find it very difficult to be taken as a disciple by an Official Wizard immediately after choosing and entering a Wizard Academy.

Usually, these new bloods would have to complete all sorts of tasks for the academy to earn the qualification to seek a master.

And a considerable number of these tasks were extremely time-consuming.

Huo Lin’s offer was equivalent to letting Andre bypass all that time spent on tasks and directly receive the guidance of an Official Wizard.

The offer was undeniably generous. Andre thought for a moment and nodded, but he still didn’t make a direct promise.

Seeing this, Huo Lin wasn’t disappointed. Instead, she walked over to Andre, patted him on the shoulder, and then left his room.
