Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Constructing the Magic Heart

Andre returned to the Wizard Inheritance Hall, taking out his dinner. He ate as he walked through the vast hall, searching for books on constructing a Magic Heart.

After searching a dozen or so bookshelves, Andre returned to his room, clutching a pile of books.

The Earth Elemental Bear was still sound asleep. Upon hearing the commotion, Xiaoduo stirred.

Andre placed the books on the table and began to look through them.

Late at night, Andre stroked the small head of the Earth Elemental Bear and closed the final book.

’No wonder constructing a Magic Heart is so much harder than a Magic Vortex. Just the potions required are vastly different.’

Andre watched the Earth Elemental Bear constantly opening its mouth, so he broke off a piece of Honeycomb and placed it inside. Sensing the sweet taste, the Earth Elemental Bear hugged the Honeycomb, returned to its spot beside the small Magic Stone house, and began to lick it intently.

’A Magic Vortex requires taking one Vortex Potion, which can then be constructed in conjunction with a Meditation Technique.’

’A Magic Heart, on the other hand, requires a Meditation Technique and three different potions. The danger of these potions escalates, with each being more potent than the last. The final one, the Fusion Potion, is the most hazardous.’

’Many Wizard Apprentices have fallen because of this potion. Its power is simply too violent, and the bodies of many apprentices with weaker constitutions can’t withstand such ferocious power, causing their hearts to rupture and kill them.’

Andre returned the books to the shelf and summoned the System to look at his current stats.

’Constitution, 16. This number should be enough for me to withstand it.’

Although Andre didn’t know how these values displayed in the System were calculated, a value of 16 should be enough. His body had been enhanced by Divine Blood.

’There’s been too much to do, all too rushed. I haven’t had time to try out so many things.’

Looking at the stats on the System panel, Andre’s expression relaxed.

Ever since he transmigrated, everything around him had been a frantic rush.

Less than three days after transmigrating, he was taken away for a Talent test.

On the way to the test, he had awakened this body’s Bloodline and the System that was practically standard-issue for a transmigrator.

Before he could even familiarize himself with everything, he was carted off to the White Sea Wizard Academy.

After entering the academy, Andre had assumed that, just like in the novels from his past life, he would have to scheme and struggle against the other new students for resources on his path to becoming a Wizard.

But in reality, his teacher, Radak, meticulously prepared the books he needed to read each day, occasionally quizzing him on his progress.

Even during his freest time in the evenings, he had to substitute sleep with the Meditation Technique.

There was no fighting for resources, no scheming or struggling at all.

He had only one task: to study, and to study nonstop. First Demon Patterns, then Magic Plants; after Magic Plants came minerals, and after minerals, history.

Sometimes, Andre really thought he was attending a wizard version of college.

He was also shouldering the burden of his Divine Bloodline—a disaster waiting to happen—and lived in constant fear of being discovered.

’Sigh... Just when I thought I was free of one burden, I get another mouth to feed. When will it ever end?!’

Andre saw the Earth Elemental Bear walk up to his doorway and look at him. He went over, picked it up, and closed the door to keep it from wandering off.

He hadn’t formed a contract with the Earth Elemental Bear yet. If it wandered out and someone else formed a master-servant contract with it, his loss would be immeasurable. freeweɓnovel.cøm

「Two days later.」

Andre stuffed a piece of Honeycomb into the Earth Elemental Bear’s mouth, leaving it to play on its own as he followed Radak out of the room.

After leaving, Andre closed the door and affixed several Witchcraft Scrolls to it to prevent the Earth Elemental Bear from getting out and being stolen.

Radak then led him deep into a forest.

"Here are the three potions for constructing the Magic Heart," Radak said, also presenting the single Vortex Potion. "Are you absolutely sure you want to construct a Magic Heart?"

Even at the last minute, Radak wanted to try and talk Andre out of it.

Constructing a Magic Heart was no joke; the slightest mistake would mean death.

Even with him there to protect him, a failure meant Andre would be bedridden for at least six months. That lost time would be a significant setback for Andre.

"Teacher, I’ve made up my mind!"

Andre nodded firmly and took the three potions for constructing the Magic Heart from Radak’s hand.

Seeing Andre so resolute, Radak no longer tried to stop him. With a sigh, he took out several Witchcraft Scrolls and placed them to the side.

These were all Healing Element Witchcraft Scrolls. If Andre failed to fuse with the Earth Bear Heart, the scrolls would activate instantly to save his life.

Andre looked at the three potions in his hand, a flicker of resolve in his eyes. He then uncorked the first potion and downed it.

As the first potion entered his system, Andre sat down on the ground and began his Meditation Technique, working in tandem with the potion’s effects.

This first potion was also a type of Vortex Potion, but it wasn’t the same one used to construct a Magic Vortex. Instead, it was a potion that temporarily increased the speed at which a person could draw in Magic Power.

The amplification, depending on one’s Constitution, was typically three to five times the normal rate.

After Andre drank this Vortex Potion, his Magic Power absorption rate shot straight to the potion’s maximum amplification limit: fivefold.

As vast amounts of Magic Power surged into Andre’s body, transparent streams of it began to form a vortex over his heart.

The moment the vortex formed, intense pain emanated from Andre’s chest.

His heart pounded wildly, and at the same time, stimulated by the potion, tiny tendrils of flesh began to sprout from his ribs. fгeewebnovёl.com

Once they sprouted, these tendrils of flesh twisted into the Magic Vortex, where they began to be infused with Magic Power.

When the infusion of Magic Power turned these fleshy tendrils a translucent pink, the process of constructing the Magic Heart truly began.

Gritting his teeth against the intense internal pain, Andre opened the second potion. At the same time, Radak took out the Earth Bear Heart he had promised Andre. He broke the seal and removed the heart from the Crystal Stone it was encased in.

The moment it was freed from its seal, the Earth Bear Heart instantly regained its vitality, pulsing ceaselessly in Radak’s hand.

With each powerful beat, motes of yellow light rose from the ground and flowed into the heart.

Andre took the heart and sprinkled the second potion over it.

Upon contact with the potion, the massive heart instantly stopped beating and began to shrink steadily.

By the time the last drop of the potion landed on the Earth Bear Heart, it had shrunk to the size of an apple.

Andre looked at the Earth Bear Heart in his hand, opened his mouth, worked his jaw muscles, and then swallowed the prepared heart in one gulp.
