Chapter 20: Chapter 20: To Know
"Understood." Andre had just returned to the entrance of the Wizard Inheritance Hall when he found Radak already waiting for him.
"Teacher, is the Secret Realm being opened this time the same one as before?"
Andre posed his question to Radak. As far as he knew, because that particular Secret Realm only opened once every five years, its resources were extremely scarce—barely enough to be of any use.
"No. This time, we’re opening Secret Realm No. 4. It’s been sealed for three hundred years. It’s time."
Radak, the one who controlled the academy’s Secret Realms, shook his head.
"Won’t the initiates from the past few years have a problem with that?"
Andre’s expression stiffened. He could already imagine that if this news got out, the initiates from the previous class, the class before that, and even Lian’s class would surely take issue with the academy.
And if someone with ulterior motives were to stir the pot, a storm would inevitably brew within the academy.
"Don’t worry about them. Secret Realm No. 3 and Secret Realm No. 1 will open simultaneously. The previous initiates will enter Secret Realm No. 3, while you’ll be entering Secret Realm No. 1. You don’t need to concern yourself with them."
With that, Radak tossed a Token to Andre. Andre caught it and stared at the object in his hand.
’I’m entering Secret Realm No. 1? If I remember correctly, Secret Realm No. 1 has been sealed for over 2,600 years.’
Andre felt no joy at receiving this special treatment. Instead, knowing what he did about the Secret Realm, he felt a sense of panic, even fear.
Although it was a White Wizard Academy, the institution had established various Secret Realms to ensure its Wizards developed a certain degree of combat prowess and awareness.
These Secret Realms were home to many creatures that possessed magical Power.
In the Divine World, these creatures are called Magical Beasts. In other worlds, they might be called Spirit Beasts or Profound Beasts. They go by many Names, but their fundamental nature is much the same.
Now, Secret Realm No. 1 had been sealed for over 2,600 years. There were bound to be Magical Beasts inside that could rival an Official Wizard.
’I’m just an Elementary Wizard Apprentice who has only recently mastered Magic Power. Going into Secret Realm No. 1 to take on these Magical Beasts by myself... isn’t that a death sentence?’
"Rest assured, Secret Realm No. 1 isn’t like the other four Secret Realms, which are full of Magical Beasts. The moment a creature with the combat strength of an Official Wizard appears, it’s captured by the academy to become a battle partner for our Wizards."
Radak saw Andre’s worry and tried to reassure him with a smile, but it was as good as saying nothing at all.
’So the academy captured the Magical Beasts with the power of an Official Wizard, but what about the ones that could rival a High Level Wizard Apprentice?’
There was a difference between a High Level Wizard Apprentice and an Official Wizard, but to him, it made no difference at all.
"You’ll have to work hard for the next month."
Radak added with a smile, and his figure vanished before Andre’s eyes.
’One month? To become a High Level Wizard Apprentice?’
’The fastest on record at the academy was someone who bathed in the Divine Blood of the Sun God after the Twilight of the Gods, and even he took half a year to do it!’ ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Andre stared at the Token in his hand, the taste in his mouth growing ever more bitter.
The biggest gap between an Elementary Wizard Apprentice and a High Level Wizard Apprentice lay in their Magic Power and their mastery of Witchcraft Curse Seals.
After mastering Magic Power, an Elementary Wizard Apprentice could cast one or two Level 0 Witchcrafts at most. When casting, they needed to meticulously recite the Witchcraft Spell while coordinating it with the Witchcraft Curse Seal on their hand.
After all this complex coordination, the resulting Level 0 Witchcrafts were the most common ones, like Witchcraft Missile and Earth Technique.
High Level Wizard Apprentices, however, were different. They could cast seven to eight Level 0 Witchcrafts, usually requiring only the Witchcraft Spell to do so.
The Level 0 Witchcrafts they unleashed were also among the more powerful of their rank, such as the Fireball Technique, Ice Blade Technique, and Wind Spike Technique.
And this wasn’t even the limit for a High Level Wizard Apprentice. The most powerful among them, apprentices like Lian who were just a step away from becoming an Official Wizard, could even cast spells beyond their level. By using witchcraft materials to augment their power, they could forcibly cast a Level 1 Witchcraft.
Now, in one month’s time, he, a mere Elementary Wizard Apprentice, was expected to challenge someone at the peak of the High Level Wizard Apprentice Realm like Lian. Just thinking about it made his scalp tingle.
"Sigh..." Andre looked at the Token in his hand, let out a long sigh, and returned to his room. He started flipping through *Demon Pattern Study* and also looked through a book called *A Compendium of Talent Witchcraft*.
Currently, the only Witchcraft he possessed was the Eye of Truth. It required no Spells or Curse Seals; as long as he had enough Magic Power, he could use it.
"Talent Witchcraft is regarded as the world’s special favor upon a few lucky individuals!"
That was the opening sentence on the first page of *A Compendium of Talent Witchcraft*.
Andre turned to the second page, which detailed a Talent Witchcraft called Mudstone Bomb.
’Isn’t that the Witchcraft that guy used?’
Andre frowned and continued flipping through the book. After more than a hundred pages, he finally found the description of his Talent Witchcraft, the Eye of Truth.
"Eye of Truth: A special Pupil Witchcraft. Capable of piercing illusions, viewing what is real, and observing all things. When in use, it can perceive the flow of Energy within the world."
The explanation was simple, but Andre felt there was more to it.
’A Level 2 Witchcraft can perceive the flow of Energy within the world? Is that something a Level 2 Witchcraft can actually do?’
Feeling something wasn’t right, Andre went to the Wizard Inheritance Hall and began his search. After scouring four bookshelves, he spotted another book about Talent Witchcraft.
Andre took it down and began to flip through it.
’Eye of Truth... Eye of Truth...’
Andre flipped frantically through the pages, finally finding a description of the Eye of Truth in the last few sections.
"The Eye of Truth, its value lies in reality itself. It can pierce through all that is illusory and see endless truth. According to legend, the Eye of Truth has other Names: the Eye of Omniscience, the Eye of Origin, the World Eye."
This description of the Eye of Truth was also brief, but it was far more direct and grandiose than the entry he had just read in *A Compendium of Talent Witchcraft*.
’It’s not just a legend,’ Andre thought. ’Another Name for the Eye of Truth is the Eye of Origin.’
Andre summoned his System and looked at the Ability tab.
Eye of Origin (False), Eye of Truth.
’Does this mean if I can make the Eye of Truth evolve, turning the false into the real, I’ll obtain the genuine Eye of Origin?’
For a moment, a thousand thoughts raced through Andre’s mind.
He finally realized why people like Diana and Quita had fought over him. The reason lay entirely in the Eye of Truth’s ability to "pierce through all that is illusory and see what is real." But besides that, the most important part was...
’Gain an advantage during expeditions... It seems my eye’s greatest function is to provide an edge when traveling to other worlds.’
Andre suddenly recalled the words Krell had spoken when Diana had taken him to see him.
