Chapter 16: Chapter 16: Difficult, Difficult, Difficult

"Master, if they’re all basic Demon Patterns, why are they categorized?"

Andre asked Radak, pretending not to understand.

After hearing this question, Radak sighed and began to explain.

"Basic Demon Patterns are categorized because they’re acquired in different ways. In the first volume you’re reading, most of the recorded Demon Patterns are obtained from special minerals, plants, and animals."

"Special Demon Patterns, on the other hand, are obtained from certain mystical races."

"Bloodline Demon Patterns are acquired from races with inherited Witchcraft."

"And Divine Demon Patterns are obtained from the Divine Spirits of various worlds."

"These Demon Patterns can unleash different kinds of Power depending on how they are acquired. Divine Demon Patterns are the most powerful, but that’s not an absolute rule. The Demon Patterns from some special races are nearly as strong."

"For example, take the powerful Abyssal Demon races in the Bottomless Abyss World that are comparable to Divine Spirits, or the Demon Lord clans of the Devil Hell Great World. Many of the Demon Patterns on their bodies can rival Divine Demon Patterns!"

"Now you understand why you can’t see the Bloodline Demon Patterns and Divine Demon Patterns, don’t you?"

As he finished speaking, Radak glanced sideways at Andre.

"My strength isn’t sufficient to view these special Demon Patterns!"

Andre nodded, humbly accepting Radak’s lesson.

"The reason isn’t just a lack of strength, but also because these powerful Demon Patterns contain a unique Power. For example, the Demon Patterns on Abyssal Demons carry the Power of chaos, and that chaos will corrupt a person’s mind, causing them to descend into chaos."

"In ancient times, hundreds of Wizards, unaware of the Power contained within the Demon Patterns of Abyssal Demons, were directly corrupted by chaos. They fell into the Bottomless Abyss World and became Abyssal Demons themselves!"

"And even though several of those Wizards later regained their senses, they could never again return to their Wizard forms. That is the crucial point!"

As Radak spoke, the look of melancholy on his face deepened.

One of his own distant ancestors had fallen into the Bottomless Abyss, and there has been no word of him since.

"Master, I was wrong." Andre bowed his head, admitting his mistake.

"Mm, making a mistake isn’t the problem. Everyone makes them. What’s crucial is that you recognize your error!"

Radak nodded, and his figure vanished on the spot.

’Looks like there’s no way for me to access knowledge on the level of Divine Spirits before I become an Official Wizard!’

After Radak left, Andre’s expression grew grim.

It wasn’t that he wanted to delve into knowledge about Divine Spirits so early, but the Divine Bloodline within him didn’t give him a choice.

Besides, he was still bound by the Chain of Hatred.

He could hide this Divine Art from an Official Wizard, but if he encountered a Wizard of a higher Realm, it would inevitably be discovered. He could only imagine what his fate would be then.

Andre sighed to himself and returned to his room.

The only way to solve this problem now was to increase his own strength.

He turned to the third page of the book on basic Demon Patterns and looked at the design depicted there. This was the first Demon Pattern he would study.

But to Andre’s surprise, the Demon Pattern was a single drop of water.

’Water... a water droplet... the primordial form of water, the very state of water, the basic unit of all liquids!’

As Andre looked at the droplet, he reached out to touch the Demon Pattern, interpreting it based on his own understanding. Just as he was recalling memories from his past life...

DING! A System notification sounded.

’Oh, right. I have a System.’

Andre slapped his forehead. He’d almost forgotten about his ’cheat’: the System.

’Deep Blue, System!’

As Andre called out in his mind, a system interface slowly materialized before him.

[Name] Andre

[Personality] Lord of Truth (Pseudo, 0.01%)

[Age] 16

[Realm] Elementary Wizard Apprentice

[Power] 2 freewebnσvel.cøm

[Speed] 2

[Constitution] 3

[Talent] Fifth Level

[Bloodline] Divine Descendant (Sealed)

[Ability] Eye of Origin (Pseudo, Eye of Truth)

[Truth] 1%

’Power and Speed have both increased by one point, and Constitution by three. That must be from the Potion’s physical enhancement. The change in Talent must be from that too. And has the Eye of Origin changed into a manifestation of the Eye of Truth?’

Andre frowned as he looked at his current stats. He could understand most of it, but how had the Truth bar changed to 1%?

’How did it increase? Could it be...?’

Andre’s gaze fell on the water droplet Demon Pattern he had just been looking at. A moment ago, he had combined memories from his past life to formulate his own understanding of a water droplet, and then the System’s notification had sounded.

’So, comprehending Demon Patterns on my own increases the Truth in the System. But what’s the use of this accumulated Truth?’

As he thought this, his finger subconsciously touched that line item. Instantly, a wealth of knowledge about the water droplet Demon Pattern flooded his mind.

"This is...!" Andre’s jaw dropped.

’The System can help me acquire more knowledge! Doesn’t that mean I can rely on it to rapidly gain a vast amount of knowledge, form my own Ladder of Truth, and quickly become an Official Wizard?’

But as soon as the thought formed, Andre realized something was amiss. He dismissed the idea and reconsidered how the System could help him.

’The Truth in the System... I have to master the knowledge first, only then can the System begin to accumulate it. And only when it’s been accumulated can I use it.’

After a moment of contemplation, Andre finally understood the System’s function.

’This is basically asking me to drown myself in a mountain of books and an ocean of words!’

Realizing this, Andre turned his head and glanced out the door. Just outside was the Wizard Inheritance Hall.

He had been here long enough to know just how vast the Wizard Inheritance Hall was and how many books it contained. At that thought, Andre’s face soured.

He sat in silence for a long time. For a moment, he was at a loss for words and could only close the System interface.

Right now, the amount of Truth in the System was too low to be of much help. At this stage, it was impossible to rely on it.

Andre turned to the fourth page. The Demon Pattern there was also a water droplet, identical in shape to the first, with only a slight difference in color.

’Huh?’ Andre was stunned. ’A different color makes it a different Demon Pattern?’

Andre kept turning the pages. Page five was yet another water droplet. Thankfully, page six was not a droplet, but a Stone.

Looking at the Stone-shaped Demon Pattern, a bad feeling welled up inside Andre. He hurriedly flipped the page, but the result was just as he’d expected!

"This is too much!"
