Chapter 15: Chapter 15: First Acquaintance with Demon Patterns
"That went so smoothly! It wasn’t hard at all!"
Two days later, Andre successfully outlined his very first Spirit Rune in his mind.
It had taken Andre a mere fifteen days since receiving the basic Meditation Technique from Radak to become an Elementary Wizard Apprentice and set foot on the path to pursuing Truth!
"Andre!" Before Andre could continue his training, Radak’s voice rang in his ears.
"Master!" Andre pushed open the door and walked out of his room to see Radak standing nearby, holding a book.
"You’re faster than I could have ever imagined!"
Radak slowly closed his book and turned to look at Andre, his expression growing more and more pleased. But then, the thought of Krell’s message made his face stiffen.
"Now that you’ve become a Wizard Apprentice, we can begin your formal lessons!"
As Radak spoke, Andre hurried over. The moment he was close enough, Radak tossed four thick books at him.
"The first book covers the basic Demon Patterns you can learn as a Wizard Apprentice. The second is on the composition of Witchcraft. The third is about the origin and perception of Magic Power. And the fourth? That’s on the origin and application of Talent Witchcraft. Study them well. By the time you’ve thoroughly understood them, you’ll be close to becoming a High Level Wizard Apprentice."
With that, Radak vanished, leaving Andre to stare dumbfounded at the four books in his arms.
Each of the four books was nearly eight inches thick. Stacked together, they were half as tall as he was. frёewebηovel.cѳm
"Master, how long is this going to take?!"
A look of despair crossed Andre’s face. It would take him at least a month just to read through these four books once, let alone understand them thoroughly. This...
Andre sighed and hauled the four books back to his room. The moment he set them on his desk, the wood groaned with a loud CREAK, as if it couldn’t bear their weight.
’Now I finally understand why everyone looks at me with such sympathy when they find out I’m the Master’s apprentice!’
Andre gazed at the four books before him and let out a long sigh.
’Faced with these four books, anyone would pity me.’
Andre sat down with a groan. He stared at the four books, feeling absolutely no desire to open any of them.
Four books. Each eight inches thick, two feet long, and over a foot wide. Books this size could be used as cornerstones for a house!
But as unwilling as he was, he had to read them.
Andre got up, opened the first book, *Basic Demon Pattern Study*, and read the line written on the title page.
"Cosmic Demon Patterns, Polished Edition. 7,085th Revision. Volume One!"
’Heh... Volume One!’ Andre read the line, completely unfazed. He almost wanted to laugh.
"Chapter One: The Origin of Demon Patterns."
"The earliest origins of Demon Patterns are lost to the mists of time and can no longer be verified. However, most Wizards agree that the first Demon Patterns were discovered on magical races and in special minerals!"
The first Chapter was very short, yet it took up an entire page. The history it implied was incredibly grim.
How the first Wizards discovered the special Power within the Demon Patterns of these magical races and ores, and how they seized that Power for themselves—it was a grim history, written in blood and tears.
Andre turned to the second page, which was the table of contents for *Demon Pattern Study*. It was divided into four sections: Natural Demon Patterns, Special Demon Patterns, Bloodline Demon Patterns, and Divine Demon Patterns. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
When Andre saw the words "Divine Demon Pattern," his pupils instantly constricted to pinpricks.
At that moment, the Chain of Hatred loosened slightly once more, releasing a trickle of knowledge from his bloodline inheritance.
From this knowledge, Andre learned that three thousand years ago, the Wizards had wantonly slaughtered the Divine Spirits of the Senbai World. Beyond seizing their Divine Positions and Divine Statuses, their primary goal had been to acquire the Divine Patterns from the bodies of those Divine Spirits.
The Divine Spirits born in each world possess unique Divine Patterns. Beyond being a symbol of their divinity, these patterns also acted as a medium for casting certain Divine Arts.
’No wonder the knowledge from my bloodline inheritance said that one who possesses Divine Patterns would be summoned by their ancestor. So this is why!’
Andre’s brow furrowed. Following the table of contents, he flipped directly to the end of the book. But when he opened the last page, all he saw was a Natural Rune.
’Volume One only records Natural Demon Patterns. The others must be in different volumes.’
Andre got up, left his room, and went to the Wizard Inheritance Hall. He began searching for the volume on Divine Demon Patterns. If he could find it, he might be able to undo the Chain of Hatred and claim his ancestor’s legacy ahead of time.
’His ancestor had been killed by those three Level 6 Great Wizards. The Bloodlines of everyone in the main family line had been completely drained, and even his ancestor’s Divine Hall and Divine Kingdom had been taken away.’
’But a clever rabbit has more than one burrow.’ Andre believed his ancestor must have left a legacy somewhere else. Besides, the very existence of the Chain of Hatred, a Divine Art, was proof that his ancestor had indeed left something behind.
’If he could obtain that inheritance, he shouldn’t be short on resources before becoming a Level 4 Great Wizard.’
But no matter how he searched, he couldn’t find it. All he found was the second volume of *Basic Demon Patterns*.
The second volume, in addition to Natural Demon Patterns, also contained some Special Demon Patterns. There was no mention of Divine Demon Patterns or Bloodline Demon Patterns.
"What are you looking for?" Radak appeared in front of Andre, making his heart clench.
"Master, I saw that the *Basic Demon Patterns* book only covered Natural Demon Patterns and didn’t include the others listed in the table of contents, so I wanted to look for them."
Andre explained, framing his search for the volume on Divine Demon Patterns as simple curiosity about the other types of patterns mentioned in the table of contents.
The moment the words were out of his mouth, Radak rapped him on the head.
"Ow, that hurts! Master, what was that for?"
Andre clutched his head, looking at Radak in pain. He couldn’t believe he was getting hit for something like this.
"You’re getting ahead of yourself. You’ve just become an Elementary Wizard Apprentice and you’re already trying to run before you can walk? Do you want to bite off more than you can chew? Aren’t you afraid of choking on it!"
Radak’s face fell, and he spoke irritably.
"Huh? Master, is there a special reason for that?"
Andre was stunned. He hadn’t expected such a reaction from Radak for just being curious about basic Demon Patterns.
"Do you think there are no prerequisites for studying ’basic’ Demon Patterns? You have to be a Level 2 Wizard to even look at Bloodline Demon Patterns, and Divine Demon Patterns are a subject only Level 3 Grand Wizards can broach. Otherwise, why would I have only given you the first volume instead of all of them?"
For a moment, Radak’s gaze held a hint of disappointment, but it vanished as quickly as it came. Andre was new to the Wizard World; it was only natural for him to be curious about the knowledge in those books.
