Chapter 1089: Chapter 1089: He Is Very Lonely

But today, even though the time has passed midnight, Zhou Chengchen shows no intention of going to sleep.

Not handing in unfinished homework is not a good habit, but it never mattered before. At worst, she’d just get scolded by the teacher, and she didn’t care, but now it’s different.

She has someone she cares about now, and no girl wants to embarrass herself in front of the boy she likes, even someone as thick-skinned as Zhou Chengchen.

Finally finishing her homework, it was already very late. Zhou Chengchen crawled into bed, but after two seconds, she jumped up again and picked the prettiest coat from the wardrobe to wear tomorrow.

The result of sleeping late is getting up late. The next day, Zhou Chengchen scrambled up and didn’t even have time for breakfast when she ran out with two freshly made sandwiches.

She definitely couldn’t be late in front of the new deskmate.

By the time Zhou Chengchen reached the classroom, she barely made it in with the last bell, and Xi Siyan was already there.

During the early reading English class, he was sitting at his desk, flipping through the English textbook.

"Good morning, Xi," she said.

Xi Siyan got up to let Zhou Chengchen in, without saying a word. Zhou Chengchen took two sandwiches from her bag and handed one to Xi Siyan, "This is for you. I hope we can get along well in the future."

Xi Siyan gave her another strange look. Before he could refuse, Zhou Chengchen quickly said, "I won’t take back something I’ve given away. If you don’t eat it, just throw it away."

After saying that, she took out her English textbook, pretending not to pay attention to the person beside her.

Zhou Chengchen didn’t know if he ate the sandwich, but she no longer saw it on Xi Siyan’s desk.

Learning from yesterday’s lesson, Zhou Chengchen had already agreed with Xiao Rou to be ready to follow Xi Siyan out as soon as class ended without waiting for dismissal.

However, today, it seemed that the heavens were against her; during the second last period, it started pouring rain outside.

Zhou Chengchen’s backpack did have an umbrella, put in by Qi Cheng this morning, saying the weather forecast predicted rain. Zhou Chengchen hadn’t taken it seriously, but it turned out to be true.

But with such heavy rain, an umbrella was useless anyway.

Yet, as soon as class ended, she saw Xi Siyan get up calmly, packing his bag to leave as if completely unfazed by the downpour outside.

"Xi, aren’t you going to wait in such a heavy rain?"

"No,"

As usual, Xi Siyan was sparing with words. In the two days they shared a desk, Zhou Chengchen had talked enough to fill a car, while what Xi Siyan said to her could be counted on two hands.

Zhou Chengchen gritted her teeth and packed her bag to follow.

This time, she didn’t lose him, but to her surprise, when they left the school building, Xi Siyan showed no intention of taking out an umbrella.

He just wore his backpack inside his uniform, putting the uniform and down jacket between it and the rain to keep it dry, then walked into the downpour with calm composure.

Zhou Chengchen stood on the stairs, watching his straight figure gradually blend with the rain, and for some reason, a feeling suddenly arose in her heart.

He seems very lonely.

His world doesn’t allow outsiders in, nor does it need them.

In that world, there’s only him, and others simply cannot enter.

Zhou Chengchen frowned. Growing up with a silver spoon in her mouth, she had never had such an experience. And the reason she felt this way now was because someone like that once appeared in her life before.

And now, she surprisingly found this feeling in Xi Siyan.
