Chapter 267: Chapter 165: Banquet (Part 3)
As for Silver Dragon Guides, Baron observed that there were only three, including himself.
According to Jack, these Dragon Guides were provided by the host—the Beowulf Family—for the scions of the other Old Blood Clans participating in the Dragon Hunting Ceremony.
A Dragon Guide’s experience and skill were categorized into Tiers—Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Black Iron—just like the Law Enforcers. The method of identification was simply the color of the mask the Dragon Guide wore.
Dragons are vengeful creatures, and since Dragon Guides are the professionals who deal with them most, they wear masks to avoid facing a Dragon’s retribution. They chose the Sun Mask because in the ancient domain of Alchemy, the sun was at one point considered both the beginning and the end of the alchemical process.
Over time, the Sun Mask on their faces became the symbol of the Dragon Guide.
Jack said that during the Dragon Hunting Ceremony, scions of the powerful Old Blood Clans were assigned Bronze Dragon Guides, while the remaining majority of Old Blood Clans were left with only Black Iron Dragon Guides.
As for the scions of the Beowulf Family, unless they were competing for the position of Patriarch, most of them also only had Bronze Dragon Guides.
The Silver Dragon Guides, however, had to be personally invited by the Beowulf Family—or rather, by the powerful contenders vying for the position of Patriarch.
For instance, Jack had snuck into the Beowulf Family’s estate by knocking out a Silver Dragon Guide.
Baron asked, "Then what about that Silver Dragon Guide?"
Jack shrugged, saying he hoped the man was having a good time at the brothel.
Baron whispered, "So, is this Silver Mask a little too conspicuous? All the other Dragon Guides have noticed me..."
Jack, however, was quite nonchalant. "Walk your own path and let others talk... L, you have to understand, our only chance of getting out of here rests on that Silver Mask of yours..."
"We knocked out two Bronze Dragon Guides, yet you gave me a Silver Dragon Guide’s mask. This must have been your fake identity to get into the manor... Why aren’t you wearing it yourself?"
Baron casually scanned the crowd, his gaze lingering for a moment on the members of the Hestia Clan and the Lancelot Clan before moving on.
"To the able go the labors. Besides, you have more of the aura of a Silver Dragon Guide than I do. When the time comes, you’ll definitely have a better chance of convincing the Barrier Guard to open the gate."
Jack let out a sly chuckle. Even if he hadn’t, Baron could read the look in the other man’s eyes from behind his mask.
Baron said no more, leading Jack deeper into the crowd. As it happened, a Captain of the Guard responsible for managing passage through the Barrier was stationed there.
The plan was for Baron to create a distraction while Jack used his talent as a "Divine Thief" to steal the Captain of the Guard’s Boundary Stone. That way, they could naturally pass through the Barrier.
But just as they had accomplished their goal and were returning the way they came, a hand seized Jack.
Just as the two thought their cover was blown, the person snatched the wine glass Jack was holding as a prop and splashed its contents in another direction.
.........
Windsor sensed a strange familiarity emanating from the Silver Dragon Guide before her.
Before Windsor could get a closer look at the eyes behind the mask, the Silver Dragon Guide simply helped her to her feet and vanished into the crowd with another Bronze Dragon Guide.
Meanwhile, Isabella coolly remarked to Pound and Dewey, "This is a banquet at the Beowulf Family’s estate. If you want to fight, go do it in the mountains."
With an air of extreme nonchalance, she holstered her gun and departed.

[Secret Notes of Baron Constantin (The Original):
August 11, 1976 / Wales / Weather: Sunny
Went to the Beowulf Family’s estate to watch the Dragon Hunting. It was spectacular.
Afterward, Beowulf’s Dragon Guide said that only someone who could face a Giant Dragon’s eyes without flinching could become a Dragon Slayer.
I stood there and stared into the Dragon’s eyes for a whole day.
Isabella wanted to fight me, but I refused.
It wasn’t because I couldn’t win, I just didn’t want to bully a girl.
Later, she and her younger sister squatted there with me, watching the Dragon’s eyes.
We squatted there like that all day, until Yelena came to get me and we went home.
Later, Isabella’s little sister quietly told me.
"Isabella only spent half the day looking at the Dragon’s eyes."
I asked, "What about the other half of the day?"
"She spent the other half looking at your eyes."
I think there might be something wrong with Isabella. She didn’t mistake me for the Dragon, did she?]
