Chapter 572: Chapter 571: Turning Hostile (3)
Damian Sinclair wouldn’t lose his temper with his own mother, but he couldn’t help feeling very upset right now.
Mrs. Sinclair responded coldly, "You’ve already lost your child with Cecilia Lynch, am I not supposed to question her?"
"You want to be a delighted grandma, but I don’t want to be an unknowing father." Damian said, "I’ve already asked the doctor for a DNA test. We’ll find out tomorrow if the child in Cecilia’s belly is mine."
Mrs. Sinclair frowned, "Cecilia has been with you since she was little, do you not trust her?"
"No, I don’t." Damian didn’t even need to think, and said directly, "I don’t care what you think, but I know what kind of person my woman is. Even if you gave her a hundred times more courage, she still wouldn’t push a pregnant woman down the stairs."
"You!" Mrs. Sinclair was furious, "I think you’ve been completely bewitched by her, so much so that you don’t even care about your mother and family anymore!"
Damian frowned, "Mom, you don’t need to keep using this against me all the time. I know what I’m doing."
"You know? I think you don’t know!" Mrs. Sinclair didn’t want to make a scene in the hospital, so she said in a lowered voice, "Do you think I don’t know about all the help you’ve been giving her lately? I’ve just been turning a blind eye, pretending not to know. But Damian, you should be able to tell who really shares your blood, who your real family is."
After saying this, Mrs. Sinclair cast a cold glance at Bella Acker, and without waiting for Damian to say anything, she quickly walked away in her high heels.
"Damian, you..." Bella felt deeply affected; this was the first time since her conflict with Mrs. Sinclair that Damian had unconditionally stood by her side and trusted her.
Damian let go of her hand, "I’ll go see her off." With that, he walked in the direction where Mrs. Sinclair had left.
Watching him leave, Bella felt a stab in her heart.
Actually, Damian must be feeling conflicted, right? He doesn’t want to disappoint his family, but he also doesn’t want to give up on her.
But Mrs. Sinclair’s attitude was clear: choose the family or choose her, Damian must make a decision.
Bella returned to the hospital room by herself. Nanny Lloyd had already brought Ethan back from kindergarten, and Sharon Cheney was accompanying him drawing little bunnies.
Hearing a sound, Sharon looked up at her, worry and inquiry in her eyes.
Bella smiled and then said, "Nanny Lloyd, there’s nothing much today, you can leave early."
Nanny Lloyd didn’t insist, "Alright, Ms. Acker, I’ll come again tomorrow morning."
After Nanny Lloyd left, Sharon asked, "Bella, are you okay?"
"I’m fine." Bella shook her head, "I just wanted to show her my attitude. Godmother, has Aunt Sienna not woken up even once?"
"No." Sharon said, "It’s time for dinner, should we wake Sienna up to let her eat something before sleeping again?"
"Aunt Sienna finds it hard to get a restful sleep after her illness, let her sleep a bit longer." Bella said, "I’ll go out to buy some dinner."
"No need, Mr. Sinclair just brought some takeout. He went out looking for you when he saw you weren’t in the room."
Sharon pointed to the food boxes on the table. Bella, a bit distracted when she came in, hadn’t noticed the several boxes sitting there.
"Oh. Then let’s have dinner." Bella walked over to unpack the food boxes.
Sharon wanted to ask if she had another conflict with Damian Sinclair just now, but seeing the look on her face, she couldn’t bring herself to ask.
