Chapter 42: Green dungeon
After arriving at the Hound Guild, the guard personally briefed them on Green Dungeon No. 2322. Since the guild knew that the students came from Twilight Academy, the Guild Master readily accepted the guard’s request and assigned a party to accompany Vyral’s group into the dungeon.
’’Let’s take a break before heading inside the dungeon,’’ one of the guild members said with a chuckle as he wrapped an arm around a fat young man’s shoulders.
He poked the young man’s cheek and added,
’’This guy is incredibly talented at cooking. I guarantee his food will satisfy all of you.’’
The fat young man, Orson, scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. He had a build similar to Doran’s in the real world, yet his face gave off a completely different impression—gentle, warm, and kind.
He replied shyly,
’’B-Big Bro, you’re flattering me.’’
The other guild members burst into laughter. All of them knew how humble and lacking in confidence Orson was.
A few minutes later, Orson gathered the courage to prepare a meal for everyone.
Everyone sat around the campfire, chatting, singing, and enjoying the food.
Meanwhile, Vyral completely ignored the lively atmosphere and focused on preparing for the dungeon.
’’Hey, Vyral, you have to try this. Orson’s cooking is amazing,’’ Doran said, handing him a plate of food.
However, Vyral simply refused and continued counting his MP, HP Potions.

He had spent nearly all of his money on them, but he considered it an investment. Once the dungeon was cleared, he would earn plenty of gold in return.
’’Hey, Arthea. Want something to eat?’’ Doran asked.
Arthea blinked a few times and rubbed her stomach. She clenched her jaw before letting out a helpless sigh.
’’I’m on a diet.’’
Doran grimaced, then shrugged.
’’Fine. More for me. You two skinny idiots.’’
After finishing their meal, the group entered the Green Dungeon.
Soon, darkness swallowed them whole.
One of the guild members cast a Light spell, illuminating the dungeon’s interior.
Then, in the very next moment—
A deafening scream of agony echoed through the darkness.
Vyral turned around, only to see a guild member with a sword driven through his chest.
Before he could catch sight of the attacker, the floor beneath them began to crumble apart. Vyral threw himself to the side, but the collapsing ground still dragged him down.
’’Shit!’’
His scream echoed through the air as he plummeted downward.
After several moments of free fall, his body slammed into the floor below, sending cracks spreading across the ground on impact.
Luckily for him, thanks to [Harden] and [Adamantium Skeleton], the impact had done little to him. The guild members, however, weren’t so fortunate.
Their bodies were broken and blood stained the ground everywhere. Some of the unluckier ones had slammed into rocks during the fall, their skulls crushed on impact.
Vyral struggled to his feet. He glanced around but saw neither Arthea nor Doran. At least that allowed him to let out a sigh of relief. It seemed they hadn’t shared his misfortune.
’’H-Help me...’’
A painful groan rang out nearby. free𝑤ebnovel.com
Vyral turned toward the voice and frowned at the sight of a guild member. His body looked like nothing more than a crumpled straw doll. He was already standing at death’s door.
Vyral sighed.
’’Sorry. I’m not a healer, but I’ll try to help you.’’
He took a few steps forward, only for his expression to darken when shadowy figures began emerging from the corridor.
Not one.
Scores of them.
[Kobold Lv. 7]
Vyral glanced at the dying guild member ([Lv. 2]).
Even if he gave him a Basic HP Potion, there was no guarantee it would save someone in such a terrible condition. Only a healer could save him now.
At this moment, there was only one choice left for both of them.
’’Sorry.’’
Vyral summoned a katana and slowly drew it from its sheath, the blade flashing with a cold light.
The guild member’s face turned pale with terror.
’’P-Please... don’t—’’
However, when he heard the wild, starving roars of monsters approaching from behind, he slowly turned his head toward them.
A pack of wolves was feasting on the corpses of his fallen comrades.
[Rabid Wolf Lv. 5]
Despair filled his eyes.
He clenched his jaw helplessly before speaking in a trembling voice.
’’Thank you.’’
At that moment, he fully understood his situation. A quick death was the best outcome he could hope for.
’’I do it quickly.’’
Without hesitation, he swung his sword, a brief flash cutting through the air.

Vyral sighed. He had never expected that his first human kill would be an act of mercy.
Vyral took a breath when glancing at the monsters ahead. Just looking at their Lv, he could tell one thing: This green dungeon wasn’t at an easy level as Merlin said. It seemed they were mistaken here, but he supposed that they got tricked by Merlin.
Whatever happened, he didn’t care too much about this matter, because he must clear this dungeon at any cost. Not only because his life was on the line, but also because of the reward

Vyral tightened the sword before lunging at head.
Without hesitation, he used [Mana Muscle Burst].

+132 Dexterity (temporary)
He lunged at the first Rabid Wolf and brought his sword down, cleaving the creature in two. The wolves were surprisingly easy to deal with.

Just as a [Kobold Lv. 7] charged toward him, Vyral unleashed three fireballs at the monster.
However, he frowned in surprise when the kobold emerged completely unharmed from the barrage of spells.
’’Does it have magic resistance?’’
