Chapter 198: Chapter 198: No Ordinary Village

As he spoke, He Yi looked up, his face full of longing. "I’m going to become really, really strong in the future, someone just like Mr. Ge. Then no one will ever dare to bully my sister again."

Then, He Yi lowered his head again, troubled. "It’s just a shame Mr. Ge doesn’t take on disciples casually."

"Just what kind of person is this Mr. Ge?"

Shen Daoxing listened, growing even more interested in the Mr. Ge that He Yi described.

"Shen, next time I go to town, I’ll take you to meet him."

He Yi couldn’t help but say proudly, "Mr. Ge is the most powerful person in our town."

Shen Daoxing nodded. He still had many questions about this place. Perhaps that Mr. Ge would know something.

「The days passed, one by one.」

Shen Daoxing continued to heal in the wooden cabin.

As the power of the Elixir transformed into warm currents that flowed through his limbs and bones, washing over his apertures again and again, Shen Daoxing felt his body and mind become incredibly refreshed.

Finally, after Shen Daoxing used the Elixir’s power to melt away the last of the icy energy in one of his apertures...

BOOM!

Shen Daoxing felt as if the senses connecting him to heaven and earth, which had been blocked, were suddenly cleared. The world within his consciousness once again became a dazzling display of light and color. Without any conscious effort, all one hundred and eight of his apertures opened automatically, frantically and greedily absorbing the surrounding Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi.

Shen Daoxing was slightly startled. Only now did he realize how incredibly dense the Primordial Energy of this land was—far denser than even in the Daqian Empire.

Shen Daoxing hurried out of the wooden cabin to take a look. The surroundings were brimming with life and the vibrancy of spring. Even ordinary flowers, grass, and trees were coated in dense Primordial Energy.

Even a seemingly ordinary stream emanated an extraordinary Spiritual Power. This was definitely no ordinary place.

"Shen, your injuries are completely healed!"

Just then, He Yi returned from the forest, carrying a basket full of herbs on his back.

Shen Daoxing walked over, glanced at his basket, and his eye twitched.

He Yi had said the basket contained nothing but common herbs, but in Shen Daoxing’s eyes, they were without a doubt Immortal Grasses and Spiritual Medicines.

With a single glance, he spotted a century-old Nine Dragon Grass, an Immortal Grass perfectly suited for Grotto Heaven realm Martial Artists to consume to enhance their cultivation.

There was also the Red Flame Flower, an extremely precious Body-Forging Spirit Grass that could cleanse one’s marrow, temper the bones, and refine the physical body.

Out in the world, these were Immortal Grasses and Spiritual Medicines worth tens of thousands of Gold Coins. Some were so rare you couldn’t buy them even if you had the money; their appearance would cause a frenzy.

Only then did Shen Daoxing recall that the herbs He Tian had used to treat his injuries were also extraordinary Spirit Grasses.

"Are there a lot of these herbs here?"

Shen Daoxing asked, looking at He Yi.

"A ton! These are the most common herbs you can find."

He Yi said matter-of-factly, pointing to the mountain forest behind him where there were plenty more.

"..."

’Plenty more!’

Shen Daoxing’s eyelids twitched. He realized that everything about this place was extraordinary; it was by no means an ordinary land.

Just then, Shen Daoxing noticed a Jade Pendant hanging around He Yi’s neck. It was profound and ancient, radiating an extraordinary aura. He was captivated by it at first glance. It was, without a doubt, an extremely precious treasure of an Immortal Family.

’But how could a treasure from an Immortal Family appear on a mountain village child?’ Shen Daoxing wondered. "Yi," he asked, "where did you get that Jade Pendant on your chest?"

"Oh? This thing?"

He Yi looked down at his chest, completely unguarded, and smiled. "My grandfather left this to my father, and my father left it to me. Dad said that as long as I wear it, it will keep me safe and sound my whole life and protect me from any beast attacks in the mountains. In the future, I’ll pass it down to my son, and my son will pass it to his son, from generation to generation."

Hearing this, Shen Daoxing couldn’t help but sigh in amazement.

’An Immortal Family treasure, being used as a mere Protective Talisman. If other Practitioners found out, they’d curse them for such a monstrous waste.’

Shen Daoxing didn’t act on this thought. He just reached out, tucked the Jade Pendant on He Yi’s neck under his clothes, and advised, "Yi, from now on, don’t show this Jade Pendant to people, especially strangers like me."

He Yi looked up at Shen Daoxing. Although he didn’t quite understand, he still nodded.

Afterward, Shen Daoxing told Yi to head home first. Then, with a single leap, his figure vanished into the nearby mountain forest.

Just as Yi had said, these herbs were nothing more than common items here. After walking for just a short while, Shen Daoxing saw plenty of Nine Dragon Grass and Red Flame Flowers, as well as many other Immortal Grasses he couldn’t name but could tell were extraordinary at a glance.

Naturally, Shen Daoxing didn’t stand on ceremony. With a wave of his hand, he gathered them all into his Sumeru Ring. However, he didn’t harvest every last Immortal Grass and Spiritual Medicine in the area. After all, these were things the nearby villagers relied on for their livelihood.

Besides, one could develop a tolerance to any Immortal Grass or Spiritual Medicine. If a Martial Artist consumed too much of one type, the effects would diminish until, eventually, there was no effect at all.

When Shen Daoxing returned to the wooden cabin, his harvest plentiful.

He Tian was just walking out of the house. Seeing Shen Daoxing return, she went back inside and came out holding a pile of clothes. "Sir, your original clothes have been washed."

"Thank you, Miss He."

Shen Daoxing thanked her and took them.

He Tian had taken his original clothes to be washed, so Shen Daoxing was currently wearing a set of plain, common robes. He then took the clean clothes and returned to his room.

Just then, Yi’s head suddenly popped out from inside the house. He giggled and said, "Sis, how come you didn’t wash my clothes?"

He Tian shot Yi a reproachful glance. "You’re a big boy now, wash your own clothes!"

Yi pouted unhappily. "Sis, you’re playing favorites. You’re willing to wash Shen’s clothes, but not mine."

Then, Yi grinned slyly. "Does this mean I should start calling Shen my brother-in-law?"

Hearing this, He Tian immediately blushed and lowered her head.

Back in his room, Shen Daoxing sat down in a meditative posture. He swiped his hand over his Sumeru Ring, summoning stalks of Nine Dragon Grass and placing them before his feet. He began to circulate the Annihilation of Ten Thousand Swords Technique, and his one hundred and eight apertures opened.

All the Nine Dragon Grass in front of him levitated into the air. In an instant, countless motes of dense, white Spiritual Power emerged from them and flowed into Shen Daoxing’s body.

Like a parched lake finally receiving rain, an unparalleled feeling of refreshment washed over Shen Daoxing. Every inch of his body, from his limbs to his bones, seemed to be cheering with joy. His Spiritual Power rapidly recovered, and the feeling of abundant strength returned to his very core.

Without any command from Shen Daoxing, his one hundred and eight apertures began to madly absorb the surrounding Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi. A massive, faint vortex appeared above the wooden cabin, sucking all the nearby Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi into it.

Within Shen Daoxing’s Dantian, the Five-Clawed Golden Dragon raised its head and roared, finally revitalized. In the very center, the Profound Platform flickered with light as the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi poured in, at last beginning to radiate a seven-colored brilliance.
