Chapter 197: Chapter 197: Immortal Magic

Shen Daoxing was stunned. He remembered falling into an abyss. Then, he turned to look further out to either side.

In the distance, two towering cliffs rose on either side, almost obscuring half the sky.

’Yes, this is the abyss... but looking down from above, it seemed so terrifying. Why is it like this here...’

Shen Daoxing was dumbfounded.

Just then, a somewhat youthful voice spoke up. "Big brother, you’re awake?"

Shen Daoxing looked toward the voice and saw a boy, no more than eleven or twelve years old, walking over from a short distance away. The boy was dressed in coarse linen and carried a bundle of firewood that towered over his own head.

"Where is this?"

Shen Daoxing asked the boy, his expression filled with confusion.

"This is Taoyuan Village!"

the boy said matter-of-factly.

"Taoyuan Village!"

Shen Daoxing paused, stunned. ’To think there’s such a Grotto Heaven beneath the abyss.’

The boy looked at Shen Daoxing curiously. "Big brother, who are you? Where are you from? How did you end up collapsing next to our house?"

"Me?"

Shen Daoxing pointed to himself and answered honestly, "I fell from up there."

He gestured overhead as he spoke.

Hearing this, the boy couldn’t help but laugh. "You must be joking, big brother! Only Immortals live up there. Are you an Immortal?"

The boy circled Shen Daoxing once, then shook his head. "You don’t look like an Immortal, big brother!"

’Immortals?’

Shen Daoxing looked bewildered. "Have you seen an Immortal before?"

"Of course!"

the boy said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. "We often see Immortals flying down from up there."

’They often see Immortals flying down!’

Shen Daoxing was flabbergasted.

"Sir, your injuries haven’t healed yet. You shouldn’t be moving around."

Just then, the young woman from before walked slowly out of the wooden hut and insisted on pulling Shen Daoxing back inside.

The boy chimed in at the perfect moment, "Big brother, for some reason, you suddenly appeared by our house yesterday, all covered in wounds. My big sister was the one who saved you."

The young woman pulled Shen Daoxing back into the house and firmly pressed him back onto the bed. After repeatedly warning him not to get up until his injuries healed, she finally went out to attend to her chores.

It took Shen Daoxing a moment to process what had happened. Only then did he feel a wave of soreness wash over his entire body.

He hastily performed an internal inspection and discovered multiple shattered bones throughout his body.

Shen Daoxing quickly sat up and entered a meditative posture. He opened all the acupoints in his body, preparing to absorb the Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi to repair his physical form.

However, he was shocked to discover that he was completely unable to absorb the surrounding Heaven and Earth Primordial Qi.

Suddenly, Shen Daoxing felt a bone-chillingly cold power rampaging through his body, wreaking havoc on his internal organs.

BLECH! His qi and blood roiled, and he couldn’t stop himself from spitting out a large mouthful of fresh blood.

Shen Daoxing hastily looked inward again, only to discover that the icy power Yue Wuchen had left in his body during their battle was still corroding him, blocking all his acupoints.

However, the Spiritual Power in his body was already depleted, leaving him unable to resist this force.

Just as despair began to set in, Shen Daoxing suddenly remembered something. Before leaving Ancient Moon City, Shangguan Yiran had Fu give him a bag of Miraculous Elixirs and Treasure Medicine.

Shen Daoxing hastily swiped a hand over his Sumeru Ring, and a cloth-wrapped bundle materialized.

Unwrapping the bundle, Shen Daoxing found a palm-sized bottle of Elixirs. Before he even opened it, he could smell a soothing aroma that put his mind at ease.

Shen Daoxing quickly opened the bottle and tipped out a single brown Elixir that shimmered with an iridescent light. He immediately picked it up and swallowed it.

An incredibly comfortable warmth flowed from his throat down to his abdomen, then spread through every limb and fiber of his being.

When the Elixir’s power made contact with the residual icy energy in his body, it was like fire meeting ice; the coldness began to melt away bit by bit.

’Looks like I owe Shangguan Yiran another favor,’ he thought.

However, even though the Treasure Medicine Shangguan Yiran had given him was exceptionally effective...

...Shen Daoxing’s injuries were simply too severe to recover from in a short time.

Shen Daoxing also had no way of getting out.

And so, Shen Daoxing settled in. As he spent time with the two siblings, he learned a great deal.

The young woman was named He Tian, and the boy was He Yi. Their parents were apparently no longer around, and the two of them relied on each other to survive in this small village.

Both were incredibly kind. When they found Shen Daoxing, they hadn’t worried about whether he was a bad person or not, taking him in without a second thought. They cared for him continuously, never asking for anything in return.

One day, He Tian entered the room carrying a mortar and pestle. "Sir, it’s time to change your bandages!"

He Tian was treating Shen Daoxing with a folk remedy made from herbs she had personally gathered on the mountain. It was surprisingly effective for external wounds and wouldn’t leave any scars.

With that, He Tian came to the bedside, helped Shen Daoxing remove his outer robe, and reached for his bandages.

Shen Daoxing felt a little embarrassed. "Miss He, please, I can do it myself."

From the side, He Yi’s youthful laughter rang out. "What’s there to be embarrassed about? My big sister is the number one beauty in our village! Lots of guys wish she would take care of them, but they never get the chance! I’ll have you know, you’re the first man she’s ever cared for so attentively."

As he spoke, He Yi even gave Shen Daoxing a mischievous wink.

He Tian’s face flushed slightly as she shot He Yi a glare. "Shoo! Go! Go do your chores!"

He Yi glanced from Shen Daoxing to his sister, then shook his head with the air of a world-weary adult and sighed dramatically. "Now you have a man, you’ve forgotten your little brother!"

He Tian lowered her head, her face turning an even deeper shade of red.

Just then, several rough, jeering voices sounded from outside the wooden hut. "He Ni’zi? He Ni’zi? Why isn’t your herb stall out today? Oh dear, our boss is feelin’ real uncomfortable ’down there’ today. He’s just waiting for you to come apply his medicine!"

"HEHEHE, I hear you took in a little pretty boy a while back? That kid looks so scrawny, he can’t be any use to you. You’d be better off with our boss!"

"HAHAHA! That’s right! As long as you’re with our boss, I guarantee he’ll have you screaming for mercy, never wanting to leave his bed!"

The cackles from outside the hut were punctuated with unspeakably vulgar taunts.

"Those bastards! Sis, I’m going out there to teach them a lesson!"

Enraged, He Yi yanked open the door and was about to charge outside.

He had only taken two steps before He Tian grabbed his arm.

He Tian looked earnestly at her brother and shook her head. "There are too many of them. You can’t win!"

Shen Daoxing frowned. He glanced out the window at the men, silently memorizing their faces, but said nothing.

He Yi stomped his foot in anger. "Hmph! Just you wait! Once I learn Immortal Skills from Mr. Ge in town, I’ll make them regret this!"

"Immortal Skill?"

Shen Daoxing’s interest was piqued by the mention of this Mr. Ge.

"That’s right!"

He Yi nodded, saying smugly, "Mr. Ge is a famous living immortal in our Taoyuan Town! He’s incredibly powerful and knows Magic that only true Immortals are supposed to know!"
