Chapter 18: Hannah’s Past

Days flew by, Hannah, Santiago and Evan had finally become friends with each other. Hannah still did not knew about Evan’s A-Rank talent, because he thought it would be a burden on her, and could possibly cause danger.

’I am about to reach peak stage.’, Santiago told Evan.

’Congrats.’, Evan replied.

’Yeah I’m about to reach peak stage myself, what about you Evan?’, Hannah asked.

’I’m not... anytime soon.’

The truth was he was about to become an awakened but did not want to tell her, in her mind she was still thinking that he was a Middle stage fledgling.

’Oh I see.’, she replied.

The three of them were in the hand to hand combat class, but today the combat class was different and interesting, because Awakened Vampire Paul was actually teaching them how to punch and damage an opponent internally.

The process was simple yet difficult, to damage the internal organs, specific blood worms were used and they were all at least Awakened level Blood worms.

For example, there was Inner Crusher Blood Worm, an Awakened Blood Worm, once it is activated, the punch or kicks dealt to the opponent would damage the internal organs.

Of course there were also defensive Blood Worms to make one safe from internal damage, as the say with hell comes heaven, like the Stone Coating Blood Worm.

The class ended soon because as per their teacher Paul, there was nothing remaining to teach and suggested that they focused on their cultivation, so that they could quickly become outer disciples.

The hand to hand combat was the last class for today, when it ended it was already dawn and birds had started to chirp.

’Evan, I think you should cultivate the whole day for today, I mean you would have three to four cracks on the aperture right?’ Hannah said with uttermost care.

’Yeah I guess so.’, he replied.

’Let’s go collect our blood stones for today.’, not trying to lie with her.

The academy gave one blood stone per day to each and every student for their cultivation, also the students in the academy were cultivating everyday these past few days because the academy had promised an Awakened Blood Worm to the person who cultivates to an Awakened the fastest.

Other than blood stones use for refining, cultivation and decreasing blood lust, it was also used as a currency, like with a single blood stone, a Mortal can live a whole day along with his family.

’Well what now?’ Hannah demanded after they took their blood stones.

’I dunno.’

’Me neither.’

Evan was feeling sleepy because he had been sleeping very less than the normal amount because he wanted to reach the Awakened realm as soon as possible.

’Santiago or... Hannah, I wanna ask something,’ he said to them sitting in the dormitory.

’Yes of course do ask,’ Hannah said while Santiago leaned forward.

’What are you people going to do after graduating from the academy?’

Hannah and Santiago looked at each other and Santiago jerked his head a bit which meant that Hannah was supposed to talk first.

’Well isn’t it obvious? I’m going to join the Sect’s military system and become a sect elder one day, that is a dream of mine to be honest.’

Evan thought Hannah was a bit unlucky because she got a C-Rank Talent only by a minor difference, she had sixty four percent of her aperture filled, while B-Rank was on sixty five percent, though it did not make a such difference but a B-Rank was supported more by the sect than a C-Rank. Now if she wanted to become an elder she would have to cultivate every single day so that she can finally become one, in the last days of her life.

’What about you,’ he asked fixing his eyes on Santiago.

’I am gonna go where you will be going,’ said Santiago.

’I see,’ Evan replied.

’It’s not like I’m going to regret what I just said just because you come up with a better scheme than me,’ Hannah said laughing and hearing her Santiago and Evan laughed too.

After a brief moment of silence, Evan finally decided to ask a question that had been in his mind for a long time.

’Hannah you’ve never told us about your background?’

Hannah looked at him and said

’You want to know?’

Evan nodded. freeweɓnovel.cѳm

’My father was a core disciple of the sect, he had a B-Rank Talent and was praised by his comrades for his strategies, unfortunately he died in the war between Bone Sect and Vampire Sect ten years ago while fighting an elder alone to save his comrades.’

’My mum on the other hand was the third wife of my father, thinking of me as a burden she abandoned me while I was ten.’

Evan’s heart thumped hard hearing what Hannah had suffered through, she had been abandoned at the age when kids hug their parents everyday, they spend all of their time with them, they smile with them, they laugh with them, they eat with them, they play with them and really love them.

Santiago’s case was no different, he put his hand on his forehead questioning himself for the behavior he had been showing with her when she tried to reach her. freēwēbnovel.com

She didn’t try to make them her friends because of a personal gain but rather she only did it because she was simply too lonely.

’I am sorry Hannah,’ Evan said.

’Yeah I’m-I’m sorry too for ignoring and insulting you in the past... I shouldn’t have done that,’ Santiago said with a solemn voice holding her right hand in both of his hands, with his right hand being on top and left at the bottom.

’It’s alright... it’s the thought that counts and as much as I know we are good friends now,’ Hannah said smiling.

’What about you Evan, when are you going to tell us about yourself, we are like asking forever.’

’Maybe some other day, today is not the right time,’ he replied with a subtle smile.
