Chapter 619: Book The Entire Restaurant

Wendy hung her head low while eating. Christian didn’t try to start a conversation but only asked occasionally if the food was nice.

Wendy only nodded her head in response.

As they were almost finished eating, Wendy told Christian, "I need to use the washroom."

Christian nodded.

The waiter immediately went forward and offered to lead the way, "This way, Ma’am."

"It’s okay. I know where it is," Wendy replied with a faint smile, shaking her head.

She was worried that the waiter worked for Christian.

Wendy observed the place while she was eating earlier.

A few tables were occupied. Wendy saw a woman went to the washroom. That was why she said that she had wanted to go to the washroom as well.

Following the woman, Wendy entered the washroom.

The moment she entered the washroom, Wendy ensured that there was no one else in the washroom before she whispered, "Excuse me..."

The woman who was about to enter one of the cubicles heard Wendy. She turned back and asked, "Are you talking to me?"

"Yes. Could you lend me your phone? I just really need to call someone," Wendy said in a low voice.

Wendy wanted to call Michael.

As long as she could make the call, even if Wendy didn’t know where she was, it would be much easier for Michael to look for her.

"Phone?" The woman furrowed her eyebrows. She seemed to find Wendy’s request strange.

"Yes, it’s an emergency. Both my friend’s phone and mine ran out of battery. Could you lend me your phone?" Wendy repeated.

"Both you and your friend’s phone ran out of battery?" The woman was suspicious of Wendy’s excuse.

"Yes," Wendy replied. She already made an excuse, and it would be inappropriate for her to change it. She continued, "Please, I just need two minutes. I will return it to you immediately after. I can make the call right in front of you. Lend me your phone, please..."

"You can ask for help from the waiter," the woman refused.

Wendy let out a sigh helplessly.

She initially wanted to look for a random excuse to borrow a phone to make a call.

She did not expect the woman to refuse.

However, she could understand the woman’s reluctance. After all, Wendy herself would find it strange if someone suddenly wanted to borrow her phone in the restroom.

Plus, the people who came to the restaurant were supposed to be well-off.

They would have a lot of secrets on their phones. They definitely wouldn’t lend others their phones so easily.

Wendy had no choice but to be frank and explained, "I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you the truth earlier. I am abducted by the man who I came here with. I want to make a call to ask for help. I cannot ask for help from the waiter because he might be working with him. Can you help me, please? I will repay you if I escape him successfully."

The woman looked at Wendy’s helpless and anxious face. She thought for a while, contemplating what Wendy had just told her.

"Alright. I will lend it to you," the woman simply said.

Regardless if Wendy was telling the truth, the woman thought it was just a phone and it wasn’t a big deal.

Wendy heaved a sigh of relief when she heard the woman’s reply.

"But I don’t have my phone with me right now. I’ll use the washroom first. Then, I’ll go and get it for you. Okay?" the woman said.

"Sure." Wendy saw that the woman had not brought her purse with her, so she nodded and said, "Thank you."

As long as the woman was willing to lend Wendy her phone...

...

When the woman opened the cubicle, she saw Wendy waiting for her at the door.

She said, "I’m going to get my phone for you. Wait for a moment."

"Thank you," Wendy replied.

Watching the woman leave the restroom, Wendy took a deep breath and waited patiently for her to return.

The moment the woman exited the restroom, a waiter came up to her and said, "Hello. There’s a gentleman who would like to speak to you. Please follow me."

"Huh?" The woman frowned. She wondered why someone wanted to speak to her all of a sudden.

What was going on? Some woman wanted to borrow her phone earlier and then there was someone who wanted to speak to her.

"This way please." The waiter gestured.

"I’m sorry. I don’t want to see anyone that I don’t know, nor do I want to speak to him," the woman refused.

Just as she said that, a few bodyguards came forward out of nowhere.

The woman panicked. She didn’t seem to have a choice.

She had to follow the waiter and speak to the man.

Christian ate slowly without lifting his head. He asked, "Did someone ask to borrow your phone earlier?"

"How did you know that?" The woman recalled what Wendy had said earlier, that she was abducted.

She doubted Wendy earlier, but then she believed when she saw the man in front of her.

Listening to her reply, Christian already got the answer he was looking for.

He raised his head and looked in the direction where the washroom was.

It turned out that Wendy had agreed to come out with him because she intended to escape from him.

A bitter smile formed on Christian’s lips.

The woman noticed that Christian hadn’t spoken for quite a while, so she said, "It is against the law to detain someone. Mister, you..."

Before she could finish what she wanted to say, Christian raised his hand and commanded, "Clear the place."

"Mister, what do you mean? You..." The woman had more to say, but a bodyguard dragged her out.

The reason why Christian didn’t book the entire restaurant was that he really wanted to go on a date with Wendy just like any other ordinary couple, although he was the only one who saw it as a date.

Wendy waited in the restroom for quite some time, but the woman didn’t return, nor anyone else went there.

The longer Wendy waited, the more uneasy she felt.

The woman would only take three to five minutes at most to go and get her phone.

Then again, Wendy felt that it had been almost 15 minutes.

Wendy couldn’t wait any longer because she felt that something must have happened that’s why the woman hadn’t returned.

Either the woman changed her mind and didn’t want to lend her the phone or Christian found out what happened.

If she were to wait in the restroom, Christian might become suspicious and send someone to check on her. freewebnovel.cσ๓

Wendy gave it some thought and decided to head out first.

As Wendy walked through the aisle, she realized that a few occupied tables were now clear of guests.

She looked around, and there was only Christian.

There wasn’t even a waiter in sight.

Wendy walked forward slowly.

Christian lifted his head. He shot Wendy a somber glance.

When Wendy’s eyes met Christian’s, she gulped. She was scared.

She tried to pretend that nothing happened and forced a smile. "Why is the place empty? Where have the people gone?"

...

"I’m here. How is it empty?" Christian asked Wendy, raising his eyebrows.

’But you are not human,’ Wendy thought. ’You’re a demon!’ However, Wendy had no courage to say it out loud.

"I mean the other guests... Was it crowded earlier?" Wendy said.

"I think they are getting in our way, so I told my men to clear the place," Christian simply said.

Wendy didn’t say anything.

She knew that Christian had already found out about her borrowing a phone.

Otherwise, the woman would return, and Christian wouldn’t clear out the restaurant.

Christian didn’t expose her, so Wendy would just play along.

However, Christian was now on his guard. It would be even more difficult to find a chance if she wanted to escape.

Christian looked at how Wendy forced herself to stay calm. He asked, "Have you eaten enough? There’s another hour until the movie starts. Would you like to have some more?"

Wendy didn’t dare to refuse, so she sat down and ate some more.

Wendy felt uneasy in her seat.

She picked up her chopsticks and started to eat while thinking what she should do next.

When Wendy saw Christian put down his chopsticks, only then she said, "I have enough."

Christian looked at his watch and said, "We still have 40 minutes. Let’s go for a walk then."

He then stood up first and walked to the front.

Wendy got up and followed him in silence.

Although Christian didn’t scold Wendy, he was obviously angry since she came back from the restroom.

He was trying hard to suppress his anger.

The bustling street welcomed them as they stepped out of the restaurant.

Christian looked at a fashion boutique. He stopped at the entrance for a while before he entered the shop.

Wendy went in, following him.

"Hello, Sir. How can I help you?" An enthusiastic sales assistant came forward, greeting them.

"Recommend clothes that suit her," Christian answered.

The sales assistant saw Wendy behind Christian. She smiled and said, "She must be your girlfriend. She’s so beautiful, and she has a nice figure. She will look nice in anything."

The word ’girlfriend’ cheered Christian up.

The sales assistant’s remark made him smile.

The sales assistant then took a dress from the rack and asked Wendy, "Do you like this dress? It should suit you well. Would you like to give it a try?"

Wendy was not in a mood to shop for dresses, but she didn’t want to infuriate Christian further. Otherwise, he would just take her home and treat her like a captive again. It would be very difficult for her to come out again.

"It does look quite nice. Let me try it on." Wendy took the dress and went to try it on in the fitting room.

Wendy changed into the dress and checked herself out in front of the mirror. Just as she was about to say something, Christian’s voice echoed from the back, "It really suits you."

"It’s because your girlfriend has a great figure. She could wear any style," the sales assistant said, smiling. She then picked a few other dresses and brought them to Wendy. "You could try these too."

Wendy took the clothes and tried them on.

"I don’t quite like these..." Before Wendy could finish her sentence, Christian said, "We will take them all."

"Sure, Sir," the sales assistant replied. Her smile grew even wider.

Wendy took a glance at Christian but didn’t say anything.

’Go ahead and buy if you want to.’
