Chapter 616: Don’t Leave Out My House
Michael and Jake got in the car. Then, the chauffeur drove speedily.
It was really quiet in the car.
After some time, Michael’s phone rang.
His ringtone broke the silence.
Michael saw that it was Mr. York calling, and he immediately answered. Mr. York said, "Mr. Lucas. Miss Leah and Zess are reaching the hospital. We found Miss Leah’s medical records too. It is already on the way to the hospital."
"Mm," Michael simply responded, considering himself already answered to Mr. York.
"If there’s nothing else, I will send them to the hospital first," Mr. York concluded to confirm.
It was quiet on the other end of the phone for some time before he heard Michael said, "Find out the places Yvonne Taylor has been during the period, especially where she lived. Wherever she had lived, search thoroughly. See if you can find anything related to the poison and the antidote."
Michael paused and added, "Don’t leave out my house. Search through it carefully."
Yvonne had been staying at their place for the past few days. If she didn’t carry the poison with her at all times, the possibility of her hiding the poison at home was high.
"All right. I will get it done now," Mr. York replied.
"Is it Daddy?" Leah’s voice resounded from behind.
Michael felt a tug at his heartstrings when he heard his daughter’s voice.
His adorable daughter went through great suffering back then.
Everything was already over, but Leah might have to suffer once again because of his negligence.
He was guilty of dereliction of duty for failing as a father.
"Mr. Lucas, would you like to speak to Ms. Leah?" Mr. York asked. He couldn’t help it when he saw Leah’s big innocent eyes filled with anticipation.
Michael didn’t know how to face Leah. But when he thought of her adorable face and innocent eyes, he didn’t have the heart to make her sad.
"Pass the phone to Leah," Michael choked with sobs.
"Daddy... Why am I going to the hospital again? Am I having a relapse?" Leah’s voice resounded from the other end of the phone soon after.
Leah was already aching, recalling how she had needles all over her in the past.
She was still very young then. Although she couldn’t remember much, she could remember the pain.
Michael comforted, "No, Leah. You see, Aunt Zess is going to the hospital with you too. Daddy and Jake will be going to the hospital later too. We are just doing a regular check-up. Then, we have to work together with the hospital and receive treatment for some minor problem. Then, we will become healthier and stronger.
Leah, you must listen to Uncle Milo. All right?"
Leah believed in Michael. If he said there was nothing, then there was nothing. She replied, "I see. Daddy, don’t you worry. I will be a good girl."
"Leah is a good girl," Michael praised. Listening to Leah’s tender voice, Michael covered his mouth, and he couldn’t fight back his tears. His tears flowed down along the gaps of his fingers.
But he had to try his best to hold back because he couldn’t let Leah know that he was crying.
"Go ahead with your work then. I just got to the hospital. Bye-bye, Daddy," Leah said obediently.
"Bye-bye." Michael immediately hung up the phone. He was afraid that he might not be able to hold back but burst out in tears if he were to be any slower.
Jake was upset when he saw Michael hang his head low, and his tears dropped to the floor.
He knew that he couldn’t blame Michael for everything.
But he couldn’t pretend that he didn’t know anything and as though nothing happened. He couldn’t just call Michael his dad happily.
...
When Michael and Jake arrived at the training camp, Yvonne was still unconscious.
She suffered a severe injury the day before. She wouldn’t be able to wake up if no one woke her up on purpose.
The doctor from the day before was there too. Michael told him, "Wake her up."
The doctor immediately went forward and pressed on her philtrum.
Yvonne slowly woke up.
She was badly injured, and she felt pain all over.
The doctor gave her medication the day before, but he didn’t treat the wounds on her.
He was merely using medication to keep her till her last breath.
Following Michael’s order, the doctor also gave Yvonne a kind of poison.
The poison would make one itch miserably.
When Yvonne was unconscious, she wasn’t tormented by the itch.
But then, when she woke up, she felt terribly itchy all over.
Her body was seized, and she couldn’t scratch for relief. She could only endure the itch.
"Itchy, so itchy... " Yvonne couldn’t help but roar. She stared at the person in front of her with bloodshot eyes. She bellowed, "Antidote. Give it to me!"
"Do you want the antidote? Give me the antidote, and I will give you yours in return," Michael said coldly.
"Antidote. Hahaha, antidote... " Yvonne was suffering while she let out a hysterical laugh. "Michael Lucas, you are so brutal."
"Aren’t you the brutal one? You hate me, and you can poison me. Even if you slash me with a knife, I will take it. But what did my children do? Why did you do it to my two children? They are only six years old!" Michael said.
"Michael, I love you! How could I hate you? I have always hated Wendy. If it weren’t for that b*tch, we would have been married long ago," Yvonne said madly.
"These two b*st*rds are her children. I hate her, and I hate these two... " Before Yvonne could finish her sentence, Michael gave her a tight slap. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
Her entire face was tilted to the side from the impact of the slap.
She spat out a mouthful of blood and said with determination, "I hate Wendy, and I also hate the two children. How I wish I could strip their skin and break their nerve!
"If it wasn’t for Wendy, who had Grandma to back her up and married you, our child would be this big too. Michael, you used to love me so much. Why did you suddenly stop loving me?
"Am I not doing good enough?
"Tell me. As long as you say it, I will change. All right?"
"Yvonne, I have never loved you. I had always let you be because of Harold," Michael said coldly.
"I owed Harold my life. So, I wanted to take good care of you on his behalf.
"If it wasn’t because you were merciless, I would have continued to treat you like my younger sister."
"Younger sister? Sister? D*mn you! Who wants to be your sister?" Yvonne laughed hysterically.
"You refuse to realize your error!" Michael roared, taking a deep breath.
"Yeah, I am! But who did I do all these for?" Yvonne endured the itch and gritted through her teeth.
"If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have come to this step!
"Michael, I have always been curious. Why did you fall in love with Wendy, that b*tch?
"Which part of me is not better than her?
"You... You used to hate her too."
"You’re a b*tch!" Jake couldn’t take it when he heard Yvonne repeatedly curse his mom. He picked up a weapon and stabbed into her wound cruelly.
A hysterical scream reverberated in the air.

Michael didn’t stop Jake but watched everything that happened before him coldly.
Then, Michael spoke, "I can answer your question. In the beginning, I did dislike Wendy because I had thought it was her who had poisoned me. She took dishonest means to marry me.
"But I realized later that it wasn’t the truth. I had never tried to understand her.
"When I began to know her, I slowly became aware of her good.
"Not only is she better than you, but she is also better than any woman in this world.
"So, I will stop at nothing and pay any price to save our children.
"If you are smart, hand out the antidote yourself.
"Otherwise, don’t blame me for being merciless."
"Heh... Merciless? Michael, it’s not like you have never been merciless to me," Yvonne said weakly, hanging her head low.
"You want the antidote? Let me tell you now. There’s none!"
"Don’t challenge my limit! I have already sent people to search through the places you have stayed before," Michael said coldly.
"Tell me on your own, and you can suffer less.
"When I find the antidote later, you should know I would do as I wish."
"Go ahead and look for it then," Yvonne taunted and let out a hysterical laugh.
Looking at how mad Yvonne was behaving, Michael had a bad feeling about it.
Yvonne couldn’t take the toxicity of the poison. She was becoming unconscious from the extreme itch.
Her limbs were twitching vigorously, wanting to scratch for relief.
However, the chains were so thick that she couldn’t fight back.
"Itchy. So itchy... " Yvonne suffered tortuously from the itch.
"Do you want the antidote?" Michael asked Yvonne again.
"Yes, yes! Give the antidote to me!" Yvonne wasn’t in the right mind then. She instinctually answered Michael.
"Tell me where the antidote is, and I will give you the medicine to stop the itch. How about that?" Michael urged Yvonne to tell him where the antidote was.
"The antidote is at... " Yvonne was fighting to maintain her last bit of consciousness.
She couldn’t tell Michael where the antidote was.
She was in Michael’s hands, and he had already killed her once. There was almost zero chance for her to escape Michael’s hands alive.
So what if she were to stay alive?
There was nothing that she yearned for in the world anymore.
The reason why she had stayed alive until then was merely to replace Wendy.
It was a pity that God wouldn’t even grant her only wish.
If so, what was the point of her staying alive?
If she were to die then, she could drag a few lives down with her.
Especially Michael and Wendy’s children.
Yvonne was extremely delighted when she thought there would be someone keeping her company in the netherworld.
"Kill me!" Yvonne roared. "Michael Lucas, I look down upon you if you don’t kill me!"
Michael saw that Yvonne wasn’t willing to tell him where the antidote was even at that point. He gritted through his teeth, "Where’s the antidote?"
"I won’t tell you!" Yvonne repeated herself.
Michael was quivering in anger then.
He picked up the whip by the side and whipped Yvonne.
Yvonne was wounded all over then.
She was badly bruised and lacerated from flogging.
"Where is the antidote? Are you going to tell me?" Michael questioned while flinging the whip.
It was a pity that Yvonne didn’t even say a word about the antidote when she blacked out.
Michael never expected her mouth to be shut so tightly.
She was a spoilt person, but she could bear the suffering.
