Chapter 353: I Trust My Wife For Sure
"You heard me right." Wendy said again, "Let Christian win the bidding."
"Well..." Yonina did not expect these words from Wendy.
"Do as I said if you trust me," Wendy was resolute in her statement.
Yonina could not say whether she trusted Wendy or not. After all, they had never worked together before. However, based on the relationship between Wendy and Michael, she doubted that Wendy would entrap Michael.
"Ms. Stewart, it’s not that I don’t trust you," Yonina halted for a moment before she continued, "Perhaps, you don’t know about the pros and cons of this project. If Christian wins the bidding, we might be able to counter him for the first two years if Collins Group and MC Enterprise joined forces. But it would be inevitable that we would meet our doom eventually. Of course, the same would apply if we win the bidding.
The tendering exercise this time is mainly on the development of the second and third-tier cities. The four billion dollars I mentioned just now is just a preliminary investment. According to the bidding case, the other party has government support. However, the development of the second and third-tier cities has been the main focus of the country. It includes real estate development, construction of shopping malls, green land construction, and so on. The time requirements stated on the bidding is five three-years plans..."
Yonina felt that she might not be able to explain it clearly over the phone. However, she thought that Wendy might not understand what she was saying either. After all, Wendy was an expert in the design industry, so she might not understand the urban development industry.
Yonina remained silent for a moment to think about it. Then, she said, "Perhaps, you won’t be able to understand the pros and cons of it in such a short period. Still, we really can’t let Christian win the bidding. Currently, half of the market shares in Lake City are under MC Enterprise’s care and control. DR Group cannot get their hands on it at all. However, Christian is relying on HG Enterprise’s capability to fight Michael on the bidding.
The market in Lake City is basically saturated. Regardless of Michael or Christian, they have to rely on an external source to implement a new enterprise transformation. The bidding this time is the key to the transformation and opportunity to seize the market share in the second and third-tier cities. One might think that the second and third-tier cities are not as prosperous as the metropolis, so their market value is incomparable with it. However, it is totally the opposite.
The metropolis’s market was already saturated two years ago. As for the second and third-tier cities, perhaps the average wages have not risen too much, but the consumption level has risen drastically as compared to the past two years. For an enterprise, the profit that one could gain from the development of the second and third-tier cities is much higher than the profit gain from the metropolis. Do you understand what I mean, Ms. Stewart?"
Wendy smiled after hearing the explanation from Yonina. She was a little helpless, "Ms. Collins, trust me. The reason I stay in HG Enterprise is because of this. Do you understand what I mean, Ms. Collins?
Wendy used the same method to reply to Yonina.
Yonina breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing it. She was so afraid that Wendy had said it recklessly, without knowing the pros and cons of the project. She could finally put her mind at ease since that was not the case.
However, Yonina felt a little regretful about it. She thought that she was quite capable in the first place. However, after the conversation today, she realized that there were people out there who were far more capable than her.
She felt so embarrassed when she came to think of her detailed explanation of the whole situation to Wendy when in fact, Wendy seemed to know better than her.
There was a sudden lull in conversation. Then, Wendy said, "Of course, there is a risk for everything. You may discuss it with Michael first and see what his opinion is. Based on my suggestion, we could bring Christian down once and for all. He would not have a chance to fight back as well."
"What we are doing now is risky as well." Yonina breathed a sigh of relief and said, "I will send you the details of the bidding. However, you have to give me a private number. Otherwise, Christian will be able to trace it."
"Understood." Suddenly, Wendy recalled the name she saw in the company equity transfer agreement. She then said, "Give me a private number too as I have something to send you as well. After you receive it, you and Michael should look into their identity. Let me know at once if you find out anything about them."
She felt something fishy was going on at the HG Enterprise board meeting. Regardless of Timothy or Todd, who did not want her to join the board meeting, it only indicated one thing, that something abnormal was happening.
"All right."
As soon as Yonina finished speaking, she heard Mr. York calling her. "Ms. Collins, Mr. Lucas is awake."
Yonina turned around and nodded slightly to Mr. York.
Mr. York returned to the ward after Yonina acknowledged his message. Yonina then said to Wendy, "Well, let’s leave it at that for the time being. I need to go now to take a look at Michael’s condition."
"Let me know if his condition worsens." Wendy pursed her lips and said, "If he is fine, then let’s try not to contact each other unless it’s necessary."
"Alright."
Yonina returned to the ward after hanging up.
Mr. York had already helped Michael to sit upright. However, his face was still as pale as a sheet, with dark stubble all over his cheeks. He did not seem to be in good condition.
The doctor came in to examine him.
After a while, the doctor said, "Looks like Mr. Lucas will be fine now. He may be discharged from the hospital after two days of observation."
"Thank you," said Yonina politely as she nodded.
After the doctor left, Yonina walked towards Michael and sighed upon studying his pale face.
Initially, she’d been thinking of scolding him directly. However, she could not bring herself to do so. After a moment of silence, Yonina asked, "How do you feel now?"
Michael just nodded slightly in response.
"Look at you now! You are totally incomparable to Wendy." Yonina’s face darkened as she said, "I just got off the phone with her." freēwebnovel.com
"What? You called her! Why did you call her?" Michael was so agitated after hearing what Yonina said. He sat up straight and leaned towards Yonina all of a sudden.
He was so agitated that he pulled on the needle attached to the drip accidentally, causing it to bleed.
Mr. York was so shocked that he pressed on the bell immediately to call the doctor.
"Could you please calm down first?" Yonina sighed, "Wendy is more rational as compared to you."
The doctor rushed into the ward and treated the needle attached to the drip for him. After the doctor left, Mr. York closed the door.
"Didn’t I tell you not to disturb Wendy?" Michael demanded in a harsh tone.
"Listen to me first," Yonina said, "Wendy knew all along that we were just putting on an act. The reason why she showed that she did not trust you in the first place is that she wants to gain Christian’s trust. The other reason is that she hates you. She hates you for deceiving her and doing it your own way."
"Gain Christian’s trust?" Michael lowered his head as if he was in deep thought.
Soon after, Michael understood what Yonina meant. He then asked, "Are you implying that it was not because Wendy did not trust me? She chose to stay in HG Enterprise because she is trying to help me?"
Michael became more agitated when he started to think about it. He kept turning the situation around in his head as if he was searching for something.
Yonina knew what was on his mind. "You’d better not disturb Wendy now," she said. "It is the middle of the night, and Wendy is still sleeping." ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"You’re right. It is after midnight now." Michael calmed himself down a little. He could roughly estimate the time in Rheinsville City. He lifted his head and looked at Yonina and questioned, "What else did Wendy say to you just now?"
"Didn’t you ask me not to disturb her just now?" Yonina shrugged her shoulders purposely. "I don’t know what else she said."
"Oh, come on!" Michael was so anxious that he pulled on Yonina sleeves as he pleaded with her. "Tell me."
Yonina pushed Michael’s hand away and took two intentional steps back. "We better keep a distance between us when there is no one around. I won’t let Wendy down."
Mr. York cleared his throat intentionally when he heard Yonina mentioned that no one was around.
Yonina then immediately said, "I mean when there is no outsider around. Mr. York isn’t any outsider at all." Mr. York was pleased upon hearing what Yonina said.
"What do you mean you won’t let Wendy down? Everything you’re saying is weird," Michael asked in confusion. He had a strange feeling that everything seemed to change after he had awakened from unconsciousness. Yonina and Wendy were never friends in the past.
"Of course, I personally treat her as a friend now," said Yonina. "You know me well. I am a person who discriminates clearly between love and hate. Now, Wendy is more important to me than you are. Of course, I will put her as the priority in this situation."
"So, what exactly did she say to you?" Michael was so anxious about what Wendy had said to Yonina simply from looking at her reaction.
"First things first, Wendy has no intention to forgive you yet since she is still angry with you for what you have done to her," said Yonina seriously. "And I am not sure if she will forgive you in the future."
"It doesn’t matter, as long as she trusted me," Michael could finally breathe a sigh of relief. He continued, "I will try my best to make up for what I have done to her."
"It’s not the time for you to make up anything to her," Yonina looked at the door and softened her voice as she spoke seriously. "Wendy stayed at HG Enterprise on purpose. It should be easy for you to guess why. Moreover, after she knew about the bid that we are competing in with Christian, she suggested that we let Christian win the bidding instead. Of course, she asked me to discuss this with you in advance. The last thing she said is that she will be sending us a list of names. She asked us to find out their identity for her."
"Let Christian win the bidding?" Michael was confused upon hearing this. After all, this seemed to go against the original plan.
"What she meant was that if we let Christian win the bidding, we could take him down once and for all. However, if we still proceed with our plan to fight against him on the bidding, the success rate would be fifty-fifty. I bet you know about this, right? In fact, she sounded confident in her plan," said Yonina.
"You seem to be siding with Wendy a lot," Michael was confused, "How could a single call instantly make you stand on Wendy’s side?"
Yonina cleared her voice and spoke with pride, "As I just told you, Wendy is more important to me now. She is now the key person for us to defeat Christian."
"So, what do you think?" asked Yonina.
"I trust my wife for sure," Michael seemed to feel better now and he even looked different too. "We have not had any breakthroughs in our plan anyways," he said. "Since she has a better idea, why not?"
"What if Christian has already bribed Wendy into dealing with us? Then, you will lose at your wife’s hands," laughed Yonina as she crossed her arms.
"If that is the case, then I am willing to be defeated," laughed Michael.
Yonina felt goosebumps all over her body after hearing what Michael said. She took a deep breath and said carefully, "Let me warn you in advance. Wendy has no intention to forgive you yet. She agreed to work with us to deal with Christian only. Therefore, don’t ever think that you have resolved the issue between you and Wendy."
"I know," Michael said with a faint smile. "Undeniably, I owe her an explanation for this situation. I will look for forgiveness from her after dealing with Christian."
"She might not forgive you in the end," said Yonina sarcastically.
"She has the right to choose whether to forgive me or not. Now, I need to focus on how to get her to forgive me," Michael sounded especially serious about it. After everything that’s happened, Michael finally realized that he was absolutely wrong about everything.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk..." Yonina rolled her eyes towards Michael.
...
After answering Yonina’s call, Wendy could not sleep at all. She sent Yonina a private number and soon, Yonina sent her the details of the bidding. Wendy sent her the list of board directors’ names she saw at HG Enterprise through the same number as well.
That night, Wendy stayed up the whole night to go through the bidding document. She was thinking about what she should do to make Christian suffer a heavy loss. Of course, the price she had to pay for staying up the whole night were the dark bags beneath her eyes when she reported to work the next day.
Zen and Todd kept asking her what she had done the night before upon seeing the dark circles around her eyes. Of course, Wendy could not tell them the truth. She told them that she had been working all night to complete the design drawing. She said the same thing to Timothy after she reached her office. Timothy was worried about her yet he admired her passion at the same time.
He patted Wendy’s shoulder and said, "Regardless of work, you have to take care of yourself too. I understand that designers tend to have more inspiration in the middle of the night. So, you don’t have to report to work so early if you worked late the night before, okay? You are the chief of the design department, so you don’t have an obligation to report on time."
"I just wanted to confirm the design for the second series as soon as possible," Wendy said with a smile. "Now that I own a share of HG Enterprise, I have to put the company as a priority to bring more profit to it." Wendy turned around and took the draft design from the desk. She then passed it to Timothy for him to look through, "Mr. Woods, please help me review the drafts and let me know your thoughts."
Timothy was very impressed after going through the drafts Wendy handed over to him. "You have already drafted out three designs?"
He nodded as he looked at Wendy. Then, he lowered his head to vet through the designs and felt satisfied with all of them. "Your market perspective has surpassed me now. I will leave it to you to make the final decision. You don’t have to go through me anymore," said Timothy happily.
"We are about to start our meeting soon. Since you are free, why don’t you join us?" asked Wendy.
"Well, let’s go then," said Timothy. In fact, the reason Timothy went to look for Wendy at this hour was to attend the meeting in the first place. He wanted to know how the progression of the second series of her project was going.
