Chapter 279: Tell Me What Happened
Wendy helped Michael into the living room.
Soon, the maid brought the medical kit. Wendy lifted his pants, and the gauze inside was stuck to the flesh.
Wendy could only do a simple treatment.
She did not expect that Michael’s injury was serious.
Wendy tried to remove the gauze as carefully as possible, yet cold sweats still broke out of Michael’s forehead.
"Hold on," Wendy said distressingly. "If I don’t stop the bleeding, I’m afraid you’ll lose too much blood on the way to the hospital."
"It’s okay, I can endure it." Michael nodded, his face ashen.
Michael’s grandmother was on the sidelines and was watching with distress and tears in her eyes.
Winnie went straight to Wendy and said, "What are you doing? Do you know how to treat a wound? If you mess around with it and Michael gets more serious later, will you take responsibility?"
When Jake saw Winnie grabbing her hand, he pushed her and said, "Don’t you touch my mommy!"
"How dare you push me?" Winnie pushed Jake.
Jake tumbled to the ground.
When Wendy saw this, she immediately reached out to pull Jake up, looked at Winnie angrily, and said, "What are you doing? I’m trying to stop your son’s wound from bleeding, and you’re pushing Jake?"
Michael’s grandmother couldn’t stand it anymore and hit Winnie with her cane.
"You’re really out of your mind to stab your own son and then push your own grandson."
The old woman then let out a sigh.
The Lucas family was now in tatters.
Anthony visited a few times a month. Michael usually excused himself, claiming that he was busy at work, and didn’t return home unless it was urgent.
In fact, Michael’s grandmother knew that they were afraid to come back and see Winnie.
Now, Winnie was really out of her mind.
When Winnie was beaten by Michael’s grandmother, she sat down and complained,
"This is unfair! The young ones are bullying me, and the old ones too! You all don’t care about me! I don’t want to live anymore."
Winnie, a wellborn lady from a prominent family, was sitting on the floor like a shrew.
"Mom!" Michael yelled, frustrated at Winnie. "What do you want to turn this family into before you stop?"
When Yonina saw this scene, she felt ashamed. She went forward to help Winnie, but Winnie swat her hand away.
This time, she was even more embarrassed.
For a moment, Yonina stood still there and was at her wits’ end.
Winnie was still sitting on the floor, yet no one cared about her anymore.
"You guys... You really want to force me to die, don’t you? Fine, I’ll die. If I die, you’ll all be happy! But even if I die, I’ll still haunt you all and won’t let you have peace!"
Winnie got up then slammed her head into the wall.
Winnie did not knock herself unconscious.
Instead, the pain from hitting her head made her wail even more.
The hall was in chaos.
When Yonina saw Winnie bleeding from her forehead, she immediately went to help her and said, "Ma’am, I’ll take you to the hospital. Please bear with me."
When Michael’s grandmother saw that Yonina could not help Winnie by herself, she felt hopeless. She sighed again and ordered the maid, "Take two people to accompany them to the hospital."
Winnie did not want to leave but had to do so.
Now, the living room was a little peaceful.
Wendy also managed to bind Michael’s wound and stopped the bleeding.
Wendy then said to Michael’s grandmother, "I’ll take Michael to the hospital. I’ll see you later."
"Go ahead." Michael’s grandmother waved her hand, then stood at the door watching them get into the car and drive away.
The old mansion, which had been in chaos a moment ago, was instantly quiet that Michael’s grandmother could hear herself breathing.
Michael’s grandmother never imagined that after a lifetime of peace and prosperity,
her family would be torn apart when she was almost at the end of her life.
On the way to the hospital, Wendy drove fast and then asked him, "Tell me what happened this month. I want to know."
Since Wendy had seen it with her own eyes, Michael knew there was no use to keep it from her.
He sighed and began, "On your birthday, I, Leah, and Jake wanted to go to celebrate your birthday.
"We were already at the airport, but Grandmother called and said my mom had a seizure. freeweɓnøvel.com
"As you can see, my mother’s illness is quite serious now. Not only does she hurt people, but she also hurts herself and even attempts to commit suicide.
"My grandmother couldn’t take care of my mom at home alone, so she had to call me back.
"I thought I could wait until my two children and I returned from Rheinsville City to deal with my mom’s problems.
"However, that wasn’t the case.
"My mom was chasing people around the house with a knife.
"She stabbed one of the maids and is still in the hospital. My grandmother doesn’t dare to get close to her, and I was the only one in the family who could get close to my mom.
"So I went back and grabbed the knife from my mom’s hand. While grabbing it, my mom stabbed me in the thigh. It was chaotic, and my mom smashed my phone.
"I didn’t want you to worry so I didn’t tell you.
"Unfortunately, you saw it when you came back."
"Your mom’s condition is that serious?" Wendy frowned and asked, "Did the doctor’s treatment not working?"
"She’s mentally ill, and she has been in a trance for some time recently." Michael sighed. "She only calms down when she sees me."
"Besides you, there’s Yonina, right?" Wendy said with some hint of self-deprecation in her tone. "And your mom must have been triggered when she saw me, right?" freewebnoveℓ.com
"I’m sorry, Wendy," Michael said sincerely. "Today, my mom called me to come home for lunch.
"My mom sounded pretty okay on the phone, so I thought it would be good to go back and spend more time with her because it might stabilize her a bit.
"I didn’t know that Yonina was there.
"You can rest assured that there’s nothing between Yonina and me. The only thing is that my mother likes her, and with Yonina with her, her condition will improve.
"But I promise you, in the future, as long as Yonina is around, I will not go back to the old mansion."
"You don’t have to promise me." Wendy took a deep breath and calmly said, "Just now, I didn’t understand the situation, and I couldn’t help but feel angry when I saw the three of you sitting at the same table for dinner."
After knowing this, Wendy couldn’t blame Michael.
In the end, Winnie was his mother.
Now that Winnie was mentally unstable, Michael should keep her company.
As for Yonina, there was nothing Wendy could do about Winnie liking her.
As long as Michael didn’t have feelings for Yonina, it was fine.
