Chapter 687: Chapter 687: Not Dead After All
What is the power of nature? Floods, earthquakes, avalanches, tsunamis—these terrifying spectacles all showcase its fearsome might. When faced with such formidable natural forces, human strength seems utterly minuscule, and so it was now.
A storm of snow roared down from the summit of Snow Mountain as the heavens themselves seemed to collapse in a thundering avalanche. Terrifying walls of snow rolled downward, surging in waves like a tsunami, each higher than the last. It was an absolutely horrifying sight.
Seeing this, Chen Fengyuan, Fan Mohao, Fan Moran, Dong Qilong, and Dong Qibao were all stupefied. Only then did they understand what Lin Kuang had meant when he said he would show them a natural spectacle. After a brief moment of shock, the five experts quickly regained their composure.
"Run!" The color drained from Chen Fengyuan’s face as he roared.
Faced with such a terrifying scene, they knew that if they were caught, it would be a near-certain death. They did not wish to die, so their only option was to flee. However, before they could even move, they felt a violent tremor beneath their feet. Immediately after, the ground gave way as the snowfield began to collapse, unleashing the true horror of the avalanche. Before the five could escape, they were overcome by a sudden feeling of weightlessness.
Then, they were falling. All five were engulfed by the horrific avalanche, buried deep beneath the snow. And still, the terrifying cataclysm continued, with wave after wave of snow surging downward in a scene that could only be described as horrific and shocking.
At that moment, Xiao Chenfeng appeared as if from nowhere, staring at the unfolding avalanche with a look of shock and horror. It was his first time witnessing such a scene, and he had to admit, it was truly terrifying. Against such fearsome natural power, human strength seemed so insignificant. The disparity was simply too vast.
Is Lin Kuang really that powerful? To secretly cause an entire mountain to collapse... what a terrifying man.
Xiao Chenfeng thought, a hint of admiration in his eyes.
The fearsome avalanche raged for more than ten minutes before it finally ceased. A gentle breeze swept through, lifting snowflakes into the air where they swirled and danced, creating a serene sight.
Why hasn’t that guy come out yet? Could he have died?
Xiao Chenfeng frowned, his eyes scanning the area for any sign of Lin Kuang.
Just then, a section of the snowpack suddenly exploded outward. A figure shot into the sky, kicking up whirlwinds of dancing snowflakes. It was none other than Lin Kuang, who had been prepared all along.
Though he was prepared, the terrifying tremors of the collapsing mountain had still alarmed him, its instigator. Fortunately, Lin Kuang could absorb the Force of Nature. With his body saturated with it, he could hold his breath for a long time, so breathing was not a concern. That, combined with the endless wellspring of power within him, was what had allowed him to survive.
Landing back on the snow, Lin Kuang finally let himself relax a bit. "Finally made it out alive," he muttered with some lingering fear. "That nearly got out of hand." The scene had truly shaken him.
"Congratulations on still being alive." At this moment, Xiao Chenfeng approached him with a sly smile.
Seeing Xiao Chenfeng, Lin Kuang furrowed his brow slightly. This man, whose allegiance he couldn’t discern, was already giving him a headache.
"Are you here to kill me?" Lin Kuang asked in a calm tone.
"No, no, no," Xiao Chenfeng said with a smile, stepping closer. "If I wanted to kill you, I would have joined forces with those five earlier. And I certainly wouldn’t have used that wooden plank to save you before."
"Then why are you here?" Lin Kuang asked again.
"Does that concern you? Snow Mountain is vast. Am I not allowed to be here?" Xiao Chenfeng retorted, slightly annoyed.
Lin Kuang was taken aback for a moment but realized he had a point. The mountain didn’t belong to him; he couldn’t control where Xiao Chenfeng went.
"Alright, you’re right. That’s none of my business. Goodbye, then. I’ll be on my way." With that, Lin Kuang prepared to leave.
Xiao Chenfeng said nothing, though he looked ready to follow.
However, just at that moment, a powerful sense of crisis surged within Lin Kuang’s heart. He instinctively executed the Extreme Shadow Illusion, his figure vanishing in an instant.
The very moment he disappeared, another figure burst forth from the snow. The terrifying aura radiating from this person made Lin Kuang’s expression turn extremely grave. Xiao Chenfeng also watched with a solemn look as the figure emerged from beneath the snowpack.
It was none other than Chen Fengyuan.
His aura was now frightening, and his power was immense—far stronger than Lin Kuang’s. Landing on the snow, Chen Fengyuan glared at Lin Kuang with a hideous expression. "Lin Kuang, you forced my hand! I didn’t want to use this, but you’ve left me no choice!" he roared, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
Chen Fengyuan had undone the Seal within his body. By releasing it, he was no longer a Skyline master but had temporarily become a master at the level of Three Flowers Gathering at the Top. Of course, this state would only last for a short time before his strength receded. That was why he had never unsealed his power until now. However, buried by the avalanche, he’d had no other choice. He had to release the Seal, or he would have died.
Listening to his words, Lin Kuang’s grave face twisted into a disdainful sneer. "Is that so? You’re just a spent force. How long can you maintain that state?" he asked coolly.
Lin Kuang had already guessed that Chen Fengyuan’s sudden surge in power must be due to some secret technique. Otherwise, if he truly possessed such strength, why hadn’t he used it from the beginning? If he had, it was questionable whether Lin Kuang would still be alive.
Hearing Lin Kuang’s words, Chen Fengyuan’s expression flickered, but he didn’t deny it. Denial was pointless; anyone with discerning eyes could see the state he was in.
"It doesn’t matter how long I can last," Chen Fengyuan sneered, his eyes brimming with killing intent. "Even one minute is more than enough time to kill you!"
"Is that so?" Lin Kuang said with a cold laugh. "Then come and try. I’m just afraid you lack the strength to do it!"
The next moment, his figure flickered and moved.
