Chapter 664: Chapter 664 Anxious Waiting

Lin Kuang called Liu Shilin and told her what had happened at the villa. He asked her to make sure Yang Ruotong didn’t worry and to bring Xinxin back with them.

Hearing Lin Kuang’s words, Liu Shilin’s body trembled, and she nearly fainted.

Although she hadn’t known Yang Ruoxi for long, Liu Shilin genuinely adored her and treated her like her own sister. How could she not worry after hearing such news?

After a few more words, Liu Shilin hung up and hurried back with the other women.

Lin Guo’er drove to pick up little Xinxin. After all, with Yang Ruotong so emotionally unstable, there was no way she could be the one to go.

About twenty minutes later, Liu Shilin, the Witch, Yang Ruotong, and Mu Wan all rushed back to the villa.

When she saw Yang Ruoxi lying pale on the couch, the color drained from Yang Ruotong’s face. Her body went limp, and she started to fall backward.

With quick reflexes, Lin Kuang caught Yang Ruotong by her slender waist, preventing her from collapsing onto the floor.

At the same time, he sent a stream of True Qi into her body, and she slowly stirred.

As Yang Ruotong came to, tears streamed from her eyes like rain, and she collapsed into Lin Kuang’s arms, crying bitterly.

Hearing Yang Ruotong’s heartbroken sobs, the eyes of Liu Shilin, the Witch, and Mu Wan also reddened, their hearts filled with sorrow.

"Lin Kuang... is there... is there still hope for Ruoxi?" Liu Shilin asked cautiously. This was her greatest fear. If Ruoxi couldn’t be saved, it would be truly devastating.

At Liu Shilin’s question, the other women—Yang Ruotong, Mu Wan, and the Witch—all turned to look at Lin Kuang, their eyes brimming with hope.

Seeing their expressions, Lin Kuang quickly said, "I’ve already called for help. Don’t worry. It won’t be long before they arrive, and Ruoxi will definitely be saved."

Lin Kuang spoke with the utmost solemnity, his words filled with confidence.

In truth, he wasn’t certain that Xue Danqing could save Yang Ruoxi. But right now, he had to give everyone a sliver of hope. Otherwise, wouldn’t they all be heartbroken?

Sure enough, at his words, Liu Shilin, Yang Ruotong, the Witch, and Mu Wan all subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief. As long as she could be saved, that was all that mattered.

"It’s alright, Ruotong. Doctor Xue will be here in a few hours. Don’t worry, he can definitely save her," Lin Kuang said, his confident tone meant to encourage her as much as it was to reassure himself.

"Mm, okay... I know. I’m fine," Yang Ruotong said, her voice heavy with unspeakable pain. This was her sister, after all. How could she not be worried?

"By the way, Lin Kuang, have you told my parents?" Yang Ruotong asked, looking at him.

"Not yet. I wasn’t planning on it, to spare them the worry," Lin Kuang replied.

Hearing this, Yang Ruotong nodded. "That’s good. They probably wouldn’t be able to handle it. Ruoxi had it hard ever since she was a child, always living under the shadow of death. She was finally free from that. If something were to happen now... I don’t think my parents could bear that kind of blow."

As she spoke, she began to cry again, her beautiful eyes welling up with tears. The sight made Lin Kuang’s heart ache.

"It’s okay, it’s okay. Nothing is going to happen, don’t worry. I’m here. I won’t let anything happen to Ruoxi. Trust me, Ruotong," Lin Kuang said, holding her in his arms, his gentle voice filled with firm resolve.

"Mm, I believe you... I believe you’ll find a way," she said through her tears.

Hearing this, Lin Kuang gently patted her shoulder.

"Everyone, sit down. If you’re hungry, go ahead and eat. The doctor might not arrive until midnight." He then looked at the Witch. "I’m sorry, today was supposed to be your birthday. Happy birthday. Once Ruoxi is better, we’ll make it up to you."

"It’s fine. With Ruoxi like this, I’m in no mood to celebrate. Let’s just wait until she’s better," the Witch said, her large eyes red with worry.

Lin Kuang couldn’t help but nod.

A short while later, Lin Guo’er returned with Xinxin.

Xinxin was very quiet today. The little girl could sense the tense atmosphere, so she wasn’t her usual cheerful self. She stood obediently by Lin Kuang’s side, her big eyes fixed on Yang Ruoxi, who was lying pale on the couch.

Lin Kuang patted her head. "Xinxin, go upstairs and do your homework. Come down to eat when you get hungry."

"Okay, Uncle," Xinxin replied obediently before heading upstairs with her small backpack.

"Everyone, please sit down. The doctor is still a few hours away," Lin Kuang repeated.

After all, just standing here was pointless. It wasn’t as if she would get up if they stood here for a few hours, would she? If that were the case, he would have gladly stood here for days on end.

Hearing his words, everyone nodded. Standing around wasn’t a solution.

Time passed slowly. Leaning against Lin Kuang, the grieving Yang Ruotong eventually drifted off to sleep.

At six in the evening, Lin Kuang asked Liu Shilin to cook dinner. No matter what, people had to eat. Even if the adults had no appetite, Xinxin needed a meal.

Liu Shilin nodded and went to the kitchen.

When dinner was ready, Liu Shilin, the Witch, Lin Guo’er, and Mu Wan all ate a little. After eating her fill, Xinxin went back upstairs, accompanied by Lin Guo’er.

Lin Kuang didn’t eat a bite. He simply couldn’t stomach anything and had no appetite.

Yang Ruotong was still sleeping peacefully in his arms, and he didn’t have the heart to wake her.

Lin Kuang and the others continued their anxious vigil.

By eleven o’clock at night, Xue Danqing still hadn’t arrived, and Lin Kuang’s anxiety grew.

Seeing the women around him starting to doze off, Lin Kuang said, "You all should go get some sleep. I’ll wait here."

"It’s fine, we can wait a bit longer," Liu Shilin insisted. How could she possibly sleep at a time like this?

Just as Lin Kuang was about to say something more, his phone rang.

Lin Kuang’s eyes lit up when he saw the caller ID. He quickly answered, "Chen Feng, has Doctor Xue arrived?"

Hearing the urgency in Lin Kuang’s voice, Chen Feng replied quickly, "Yes, he’s arrived in East Sea. I’m at the airport with him now. We’ll be there soon."

At this, Lin Kuang’s excitement flared. "Good, hurry. We’re all waiting for you."
