Chapter 1597: Chapter 1597: Catherine Almost Dies of Rage

Overall, the talk went pretty well.

Because Catherine wanted to make friends with Justin Kingston, as the big client she was basically easy to talk to and didn’t bring up any tricky questions.

Until Captain Julie’s phone rang. She pulled out her phone, glanced at the caller ID, walked a bit to the side, and only answered after stepping away from everyone.

Listening with a stern face to whatever the other person was saying, her brows knit slightly. "Okay, I got it. I’ll pass it on right away."

Hanging up, she walked over to Princess Catherine, leaned to the princess’s ear, and whispered something.

Catherine looked at her in confusion, but didn’t say anything, just had a rough idea in her mind.

"Your Highness, are you busy?" Justin Kingston was good at reading the room. He felt he’d bought Jocelyn about as much time as he could, so he spoke up, "You’ve pretty much finished your inspection here. I’ll have them draw up a few design drafts for you within a week, okay?"

"Alright, thank you for your hard work." Catherine did have to leave, because she had more important things to deal with.

So everyone headed back while chatting.

Catherine said, "To welcome you tonight, we’ve specially arranged a dinner party. The Lorelei royal family welcomes you and your team, and we hope you’ll do us the honor of attending."

"Definitely." Justin Kingston answered with a smile. He certainly wasn’t going to leave so soon; he still had to find a way to stay and snoop around.

Catherine had Julie send them back first to the palace quarters that had been arranged for them to rest, and she even specially arranged a separate floor just for Justin Kingston.

The hospitality in this diamond kingdom was actually pretty decent.

Catherine didn’t go straight back to her own palace; she went directly to where Taylor was staying, charging in with a full head of steam as soon as she stepped through the door.

"Your Highness." The servants hurried to salute, not even having time to go inside and announce her arrival.

"Taylor!" Catherine called her son’s name and stormed straight into the innermost room, where sure enough she caught him sitting at his desk playing a game.

"Taylor!!" Catherine was absolutely furious; she snatched the controller right out of his hands and smashed it on the floor. With a crisp crack, the controller shattered into pieces!

You could just imagine how much force she put into that throw!

Taylor stared at his mother in shock. "What are you doing?!" He shot to his feet in a rage, anger burning in his chest that he wanted to let out but couldn’t.

Catherine gave him a shove. "You’re someone who’s supposed to inherit the throne! And you’re spending your days here playing games? If your father found out, he’d be furious enough to drop dead!"

"Who said I’m the heir to the throne?" Taylor wasn’t having it. He straightened his clothes. "Didn’t a Prince Louis pop up out of nowhere halfway through? If he wants it, let him have it! I don’t give a damn anyway!"

"Say that again!!" Catherine was livid.

"..." Taylor met his mother’s gaze and didn’t dare say another word.

"Exactly! It’s precisely because he came back that you can’t slack off even more!" Catherine was practically about to explode. "When you put my two sons side by side, why should mine be the inferior one?"

"How am I worse than him?" That was the kind of line Taylor hated to hear. "Am I missing a leg or an arm or something compared to him?"

"What is he doing, and what are you doing?" Catherine yelled at her son. "Louis is staying by your father’s side! He even suggested finding a Raban doctor to treat him!"

"Ha! A Raban doctor? What, is he putting on a show? Even our own imperial doctors are helpless—doesn’t that just make it redundant?" Taylor didn’t see that as filial piety at all.

"But that is his filial piety!" Catherine said angrily. "Do you get that? At least he cares about your father. And you? Have you spent even one full day with your father? Every time we remind you, you show up for half an hour and that’s it!"

"Father only ever asks about my studies. He and I... really don’t have any common topics," Taylor sighed, aggrieved. "I care about his condition, but he says I’m not a doctor and tells me to put my mind on my schoolwork."

"I don’t care what he asks you about, just get over there!" Catherine refused to lose. "You’re going to your father’s palace right now! Go keep him company!"

Taylor had no choice; his mother’s temper was explosive. If she cut off his cards, life would be miserable from then on.

So Taylor stopped resisting and walked out.
