Chapter 1595: Chapter 1595: This Is Just a Smoke Screen
When the servant turned and left after saluting him, he heard the Prince say to the girl, "Come in and sit. Cultivating flowers, in reality, requires a bit of technique and experience." His voice remained aloof and distant.
"I really like freesia. At first, I couldn’t grow them well, but with time I gained experience. Different varieties have different survival rates," he said.
The servant walked away, and his voice also drifted into the distance.
Jocelyn watched him with a smile, her feelings already complex...
Ian Shelby turned and walked into the room, his mood likewise.
Jocelyn followed him in, looking at his tall and slender back, she suddenly felt a great deal of pity.
Alone in this deep palace, is there not a single trustworthy person by his side?
Ian Shelby stopped in the center of the palace. His brows slightly furrowed with displeasure, mixed with concern about her and confusion—how had she gotten in?
And more deeply, there was longing for her that he was trying to restrain...
Jocelyn stopped a meter behind him; she knew he was angry.
So she gently explained, "CEO Kingston came over. He is in the royal family, and I came in with him."
Ian Shelby turned in shock and surprise at her words!
"Otherwise, I wouldn’t have been able to enter, nor would I dare to. He sent me to understand your situation."
The two exchanged glances, and Ian wasted no time, saying to her, "I cultivate flowers to cover for myself. Two-thirds of the plants here are flowers; the other third are medicinal herbs. My father has been chronically poisoned for five years."
He thought, since she came with CEO Kingston, she likely knew his identity.
As he spoke, Ian walked toward the table, leaving Jocelyn confused about his intentions, only following behind to see him pick up paper and pen.
He continued, "I need to stay here first to detoxify him. His organs have started to fail. I also have to find the perpetrator and root out this royal tumor, so for now, I won’t return to Riventhal. Take care of yourselves."
"How can we help you?" Jocelyn asked softly. "I recently learned Raban; can I use this skill to stay here?"
Then Jocelyn told him about Princess Catherine inviting The Kingston Group to build a castle park.
Her father’s health was deteriorating, but how could she still think about building a castle park? This left Ian puzzled.
She said, "CEO Kingston’s team will always be here. They can help you when needed, and he will also frequently check in."
Ian nodded, quickly finished writing, and handed the folded note to Jocelyn.
"What is this?" She didn’t look but directly pocketed it to prevent others from seeing it.
Ian said, "Give it to Mia Lane."
"Okay!" She knew it must be something very important.
Meanwhile, someone entered at the door; they both turned to look as the person approached and respectfully saluted, "Good day, Prince. The King wishes to see you."
"Alright, I’ll go right away." Ian’s gaze fell on the person, his expression calm and composed.
The person glanced at the two, retreated to the door to wait, implying that Ian and Jocelyn didn’t have much time.
"Is there a translation department in the palace?" Jocelyn asked softly, determined to help him, "I know Raban."
"There used to be, not sure now." A flash of insight crossed Ian’s mind, and he directly asked, "Are you willing to stay by my father’s side?"
Ah?
Jocelyn was stunned; Ian’s tone was light, but his gaze was firm, "Assist me in finding the culprit."
Stay by the King’s side?
Being next to a ruler is as precarious as being next to a tiger... Jocelyn, an ordinary girl, couldn’t help feeling a bit scared, but she still nodded, "I’m willing."
In truth, she more wished to stay by his side.
Ian hadn’t revealed his plan to her as he needed to make arrangements; only when things were in place could he arrange for her to join.
Making arrangements directly would be too conspicuous.
"Then I’ll go first." Ian said to her, "Go find CEO Kingston, and make sure to give the note to Mia Lane."
