Chapter 160: I SAID LET HER GO!!
"NO!!"
Evelyn screamed. For a short second, her mind turned off. She accessed Lucian’s demonic energy through her contract, then, the raw violet energy burst out, pushing the Host backward, crashing into the wall.
And—
The entire hallway froze for a short second.
It wasn’t just Orpheus, Sarah, Elise, Lila, and even Alaric couldn’t believe it.
Did she just... use demonic energy...?
...what?
The only one who did not understand the meaning behind it was Orpheus.
"So you gave her a few toys, huh..."
He smiled.
The Choir of Kneeling Flesh, however, recognised that power in an instant.
A Contract.
This human had formed a Contract with a demon.
Which was strange, since according to what they were told, Greater Demon Vaelrith desired to form a Contract with this Human, which wouldn’t be possible until the demon she had formed a Contract with was killed.
However, none of the Choir Demons said anything. They were only here to stop the False Demon, nothing else mattered.
"Fine, have it your way."
Orpheus shrugged.
"Use force."
He ordered. This time, a larger Host stepped forward. His body was thicker, he had deep yellow eyes.
He was a Fifth Veil Host.
He was strong enough to tear even Enclave hunters apart, let alone a girl who barely knew what she was doing. He approached Evelyn.
"GO AWAY!!"
Evelyn screamed. Another burst of demonic energy tried to push the Host away, but this time, it didn’t work.
The next second, Evelyn raised both her hands and formed a shield. The Host punched the shield and crushed it into pieces.
Then, he grabbed Evelyn’s hand.
"LEAVE ME!!"
She screamed as she tried to free herself.
"LEAVE HER!!!"
Lucian screamed in a hoarse voice, trying to move even more as his violet eyes flared dangerously.
"I SAID LEAVE HER!!"
His voice turned demonic, but even then, even with all his emotions riled up, he could only lift his arm, surprising the Choir. They, however, increased the pressure even further and Lucian’s hand fell down again.
Though he didn’t give up, he still continued to drag his body, inch by inch, moving towards the Host who was holding Evelyn.
And the Host—
Bam
He only stomped on Lucian’s face, forcing his head down, then crushing his head onto the floor like he was crushing an insect.
Then, once Lucian stopped moving, the Host took Evelyn and started walking towards Orpheus.
"LUCIAN!!"
Evelyn screamed. She tried to escape, to free herself, she used all her strength, but the demon was simply far, far stronger than her.
A normal human like her couldn’t possibly free herself from him. Resisting would only hurt her more, but she didn’t care.
She continued resisting, trying to pull herself towards Lucian with tears in her eyes, all while the Host dragged her away from him.
"LUCIAN!!!"
She screamed.
Lucian, who had stopped moving, raised his head again.
"I SAID LET HER GO!!"
He screamed as he forced his collapsed body up. The Choir increased the pressure even further and he collapsed again.
Now, he wasn’t even on his knees anymore. He was on the floor, with only his hand raised towards the crying Evelyn who was constantly screaming his name, trying to hold her even though she was a few meters away from him now.
Orpheus watched the scene and he couldn’t help but laugh—
"How melodramatic.
Hollywood should take notes."
He commented with a grin. Then, a glint appeared in his eyes.
"So the rumours really were true, huh? The Star and her guard, eh?
How scandalous~
Though that only makes it much more interesting for me now that I get to tell you what’s going to happen."
His grin widened as he looked at Lucian.
Then, he began saying everything that was going to happen to Evelyn from now on, just like Vaelrith had told him to.
"Once we take her away, we are going to finish what we started in the Velvet House, and this time, we are going to do it correctly."
He grinned.
Lucian’s eyes flared in anger. He tried to move again, even at the cost of his body, but the pressure on him was simply too strong.
Orpheus enjoyed his suffering and he continued—
"This time, she will be conditioned properly. I’ll make her a slave who would want to obey me." ƒrēewebnovel.com
He smiled as he looked at Evelyn.
"She will sing when I ask, smile when I ask. She will kneel, undress, and kiss my feet every time I want her to.
And...
She will give Vaelrith whatever he wants because I told her to.
She will be our toy.
The Evelyn Starling, the woman dreamt of by millions, I’ll keep her as my personal pet and the best part?
She will enjoy every second of it.
She will offer herself to me and she will do it with eyes full of devotion!"
Nolan extended his hands, as if basking in the glory that was coming towards him.
Then, he looked at Lucian, who had somehow dragged his body about a meter away from where he initially was and his grin widened—
"And once we are done, we will make sure you meet the new her.
This, Lucian Cross, is Vaelrith’s gift to you."
He announced and just as he did—
The Enclave members’ comms clicked and Clara’s voice came from the other side.
[Multiple hostile signatures detected, control feeds are dropping, breaches reported in three internal corridors, normal security has been compromised, about a hundred Hosts have forced themselves in.]
Just as she said those words, more and more Third and Fourth Veil Hosts walked in with wide, demonic grins on their faces.
And the instant Alaric and the others saw them—
Their faces lost all colour.
"Call for reinforcements."
Alaric ordered as he looked at the hallway full of Hosts.
[Already sent. Closest Unit is four minutes away, the complete strike team will arrive in seven minutes.]
Four minutes...
It was far too long.
Alaric looked at Evelyn, still screaming for Lucian and he realised it.
’She will be taken away.’
He understood that they wouldn’t be able to stop the enemies, not with their numbers, and the more he thought about it—
The more frustrated he became.
He couldn’t help but think about the embarrassment Enclave would face once the world knew they had lost a protected target.
He could already imagine how the other Old Families were going to use this mission to question the Ashcroft Family and their Heir’s competence.
It made him clench his fists.
"Oh? So reinforcements are only four minutes away? That was fast."
Orpheus commented as he heard the comms.
"I’ll make sure to order delivery from Enclave next time, you guys are faster than my pizza guy. As for now, I believe it is time I must leave."
He smiled, then, he looked specifically at Lucian and nodded like an old friend.
"I’ll show you my pet soon, look forward to it."
And Lucian—
His mind went silent.
As if something inside him... broke.
