Chapter 1104: Chapter 1104
Aurelia Shaw hadn’t been holding out much hope to begin with.
Leaving aside whether that man was telling the truth or not, after being injected with the drug his mind was a mess, so who knew if what he saw was real or not.
But she hadn’t expected that she’d actually find them here.
There were a few faces she knew very well.
But none of them recognized her.
Even though they’d been injected with drugs, their willpower was far beyond that of ordinary people. Dylan Harper glanced at the work badge hanging from Aurelia Shaw’s chest and sneered, "Lapdog of that ugly bitch, if you’ve got the guts then let me go! I can snap your neck with one finger."
Aurelia Shaw spoke slowly, unhurried, "Trying to provoke me won’t work. Just because research staff stay in the lab all year round doesn’t mean we’re bookworms. Going head‑to‑head with special forces? How overconfident do you think we are?"
The contempt in her tone, the arrogant attitude... Dylan Harper froze for a second. Why did this voice sound so damn familiar?
Someone spoke up for Dylan Harper, indignant, "A woman like you, Harper can snap three of you at once. Go ahead, be cocky now. Once we get out of here, you’re the first one we’ll kill."
Aurelia Shaw curled her lips, amused. "Even if I let you go right now, you think you can run? I’m guessing none of you have a shred of strength left in your bodies, right?"
"If you’ve got the guts, untie us and see if we’re weak..."
"Holy shit!" Dylan Harper suddenly cut the man off.
Dylan Harper stared wide‑eyed at Aurelia Shaw, practically unable to believe it, carefully taking in that... unbearable, completely unrecognizable face from head to toe.
He asked hesitantly, "Sis... sister‑in‑law?"
Aurelia Shaw raised an eyebrow.
The others had no idea what was going on and all asked at once, "Harper, you out of it? What sister‑in‑law? She’s one of those bastard researchers. These bastards only dare keep us tied up and use us as lab rats, ptooey!"
"You’re the bastard!" Dylan Harper cursed. "This is Yuke’s woman!"
Yu... Yuke? Everyone was dumbfounded.
They blinked and stared hard at the woman’s face caked in heavy makeup, and asked back, uncertain, "Harper, you really sure this is Yuke’s woman?" They all looked at Dylan Harper, their eyes clearly saying: have the drugs fried your brain and blinded you?
"One hundred percent sure!" Dylan Harper ground out. He’d been beaten up by his sister‑in‑law before—how the hell could he mistake her! Dylan Harper shot a look at Aurelia Shaw. "Sister‑in‑law, you, how are you here? You’re here to rescue Yuke, right?"
Aurelia Shaw nodded casually.
Dylan Harper: "I knew it. I knew you’d never abandon Yuke!"
Everyone was stunned. Huh? Did they hear that right? Their sister‑in‑law was a celebrity. Never mind why she looked like... this eyesore right now—how was she supposed to get them out of here?
They had to be hallucinating!
Harper’s hallucinations were just the worst—this had to be some trap the enemy set for them.
Can’t trust it, no way...
"What have they been injecting you with lately?" Aurelia Shaw lowered her head to flip through the records sitting to the side as she asked.
Dylan Harper replied honestly, "No idea what they’re injecting. They give us a shot every day, and after that we’re totally wiped out. That ugly woman, the so‑called Dr. Xiao, drops by every so often to observe us too."
"I feel like she’s raising us like flowers," Dylan Harper muttered.
Aurelia Shaw really wanted to douse his enthusiasm and say that flowers at least get to live when they’re raised like that. Keep this up and they might not survive at all.
"Here’s the deal, I’ll lay out the plan." Aurelia Shaw said, "I’m going to switch out your medication..."
