Chapter 45: Dinner Date 4

Anais, he even made you cry, is he still worth being a second in front of you?

The waiter bowed politely again before Corrine. Corrine gave him a light nod, wondering if it was time for them to order anything yet.

’’Good evening ma’am,’’ the waiter said in a strange accent that felt ancient and hard to recognize. Malachi found himself frowning a bit as he stared suspiciously at the rude freak.

’’Our boss has been admiring you all evening and he has sent you this lovely, Black Passionate flowers to show his appreciation of you.’’

Corrine parted her lips dumbly as she stared at a huge and lovely bouquet of black passionate flowers. A flower known to be nearly extinct and found only in the gardens of the extremely rich and powerful.

Malachi eyes bulged out of their sockets at the sight of the flower with rich, solid black leaves that seemed to have a unique shine of its own and blinked severely, thinking he was seeing things.

Corrine once again found herself in a situation where she had no idea on what to do. She stared for long at the flowers, finding herself drawn with each glance at its unique beauty.

But there was a part of her that refused to receive such a lousy gift until she knew who had been admiring her in secret.

Corrine found herself turning left and right in her seat, bothered to know her instincts were right when she felt someone’s eyes on her from the beginning and up to this moment with her dinner with Malachi. The waiter, still frozen in a respectful bow, presented the flowers towards Corrine.

But Corrine remained restless, eyes wide and searching for this other creep in her life.

Her world stilled or rather, time slowed when something told her to look up and she did.

Their eyes met in an instant and Corrine shuddered at the sight. He left her breathless with his appearance and the knowing fact that he had been watching her all this time without her even realizing it!

His eyes boring into hers possessively, daring her to reject his gift.

This is only the tip of the iceberg of many things I have planned to have you all to myself tonight, Anais.

If you could willingly spend this much time with this pretentious looking being in front of you, then you can also do the same for your lovely, new intern.

He never stopped looking at her like there was nothing else more interesting enough to look at.

Corrine couldn’t believe this. Did he follow her all the way here—-no, that would be ridiculous. She was the only one who knew about the address of this place.

Well, could it have been just a mere coincidence?

He smiled. But she looked more terrified at the sight of it.

Grim looked slightly amused when she turned away quickly, choosing to ignore him.

’’I appreciate the kindness but I will have to respectfully decline this gift.’’

It was Malachi’s turn to stare at her in disbelief as she rejected something that could be sold and turned her into a very rich woman overnight.

When the creepy, looking pale waiter refused to leave, Corrine turned to him with a defiant look.

’’Black isn’t really my color. It creeps me out just like being given a gift from someone I know nothing about. Tell your boss I am not the kind to be bought over by meaningless gifts.’’

Malachi’s blue eyes widened at her in horror while Grim stared down at his girl with a dangerous interest.

A slow smile formed on his lips as he turned to the female vampire waiter standing patiently by his side. She turned to the Prince Of Hell, nodding in understanding before turning around to leave.

Once she had disappeared from his sight, his eyes flickered back down on his love.

As Corrine was about to dismiss the waiter, another creature as pale and dead looking as the previous waiter approached their table and placed in front of her a small black box with respect. She stepped back for a while, standing before her workmate as the human eyed the box like it was some virus.

’’What is the meaning of this?’’ Corrine asked, feeling angry now.

The vampire didn’t say anything but stepped forward and answered her question by opening the small black box to reveal a priceless diamond ring in it.

Corrine was now flabbergasted by all of this. Malachi only stared at the ring as if he was staring right at the face of divine light.

Her sharp green eyes returned on him and she found him nodding his head patiently to some soundless tune. His eyes closed as his perfectly long eye lash moved restlessly on his face.

He felt the heat of her burning stare and knew right away that she would be hating him forever in this lifetime and the next.

But it didn’t matter now that he feels threatened of losing her to someone he wanted to reveal the other side of him she knows nothing of. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ

It’s either you come to me or I come to you.

He opened his eyes to match her burning look.

If this is what he gets from protecting her from someone unworthy of even a simple glance from her then so be it.

Malachi gulped at the sight of the ring and the flowers placed beside it.

I can become a millionair—no, a billionaire and finally get to have that car I have always dreamed about. I don’t care if I have to break up with Vivian just to be with someone better and soon will be made rich with this mysterious admirer of his.

Malachi’s gaze fell on Corrine with a dark and determined look. Instantly hating how stubborn and prideful she was being before something that could change both of their lives for good. Then he thought of talking sense into her immediately.

’’Miss Winfield,’’ he began in that slow and friendly voice of his as the vampires bowed and left them both with the gift. Corrine’s watery gaze returned on her date, thinking he would feel as angry and disappointed at the ’’boss’’ of this place for his unacceptable behavior towards her.

She found herself tensing up a bit when he suddenly grabbed the hand he couldn’t reach before and caressed it softly with his thumbs.

’’I think it’s very harmless if you have someone who thinks you are worthy enough to receive all this.’’

Grim rose from his seat and began to walk away.

Corrine blinked, her face moving in disbelief as he refused to let go of her hand.

She was probably feeling so unworthy or undeserving or was it her pride that was coming in the way of them having something close to being considered a generational wealthy?

Malachi tried to understand but he was growing impatient and determined not to let her be the reason he wouldn’t walk out of here feeling like a rich man tonight.

’’Like I have said before,’’ he whispered in that same nice tone that had charmed and blinded her so much, Corrine still couldn’t see beyond the veil he had cast around her. ’’You are very beautiful and attractive.’’

It was very true to him. He would like to be a very rich man and be the husband to someone this desirable and sexually appealing at the same time. He would hate to lose any of them tonight.

’’And it’s possible someone is just trying to make you feel that way by just being generous. The person might not necessarily harbor any hidden meaning behind this gift or sordid intentions.’’

Please swallow that huge pride of yours right now and take these gifts before it is taken from us!

Malachi’s hands tightened around hers and Corrine felt slightly uncomfortable and overwhelmed by it all. It made her nauseasous and she couldn’t tell what disgusted her the most.

Her head did another funny spin and for a moment she was this close to passing out until someone came to free her hands from Malachi’s firm grip.

Corrine’s eyes moved tiredly at the familiar gloved hands that held hers. It wasn’t painful and suffocating and for a moment, it made her feel safe.

Malachi stared up at the imposing figure that came to collect his bridge to immediate success tonight from him.

His jaw dropped when he thought he had seen all the beautiful things there was to see about this world.

’’Get lost,’’ Grim said as he held her hand and stared disappointedly at the human. He bestowed the opportunity of half an hour to spend time with her and he fumbled at the sight of material things.

Things not as beautiful or priceless as her.

’’You are not to be seen anywhere around her or I won’t be kind enough to give you a painless death.’’

He threatened, showing the human how serious he was with a subtle reveal of his demonic gaze. Malachi was this close to making a mess of his panties at the sight of it in fear.

Corrine who was still struggling with her dizziness and the aching pain in her head tried to look at the one threatening to get rid of her dinner date.

Grim turned to his human and said in a tone that left no room for disobedience.

’’Let’s go.’’

Corrine gasped softly when he pulled her out from her seat and began to drag her further away from her dinner date and towards the main entrance of the restaurant.

Once they were gone, Malachi couldn’t even relax from the shock. Even the junior and senior workers of the restaurant had never seen a demon be so obsessively possessive enough to ruin the date of their loved one just to get their attention.

Even the old couple dining in a corner talked about it as they watched the poor girl get dragged outside by a beautiful being who was not in the mood to tolerate her nonsense much further.

’’Guys, I am starting to see strange things. A demon and a human in love?’’ One junior waiter said in disbelief, turning to the other senior and junior workers who were Vampires, shapeshifters and wraiths.

One junior worker grabbed a mop and used it to hit his head hard enough to hurt.

’’Ow,’’ the poor wraith cried out, staring at his vampire crush in disbelief.

’’Don’t you dare gossip about His Royal Highness.’’

One senior waiter nodded in approval. He was the tallest among them and a six hundred year old vampire fortunate to be serving the young prince of hell. The workers all dispersed when there was nothing to see anymore and the poor wraith with a bump on his head stared at them all, trying to gain their sympathy.

But there was none nice enough to give.

Outside, in the cold, Ichor moved towards the car that drove him here not letting go of her hand as he pulled her across the large and desolate parking space.

’’Let go...Let go...’’ She kept mumbling out to him but he refused.

Corrine in anger forced her hand out of his hold painfully enough that it hurt them both. She staggered back, almost falling as she blinked away the pain she was feeling in her head while trying to keep it together and face this demon.

This demon is determined to haunt her life forever. He was willing to even take her peace, whatever brings her joy or happiness and even dominate over her completely.

Corrine sighed, feeling drained and exhausted as he was unwilling to turn around to face her for a while until he slowly did, giving her a look that not only frightened her but made her feel guilty over something she has no idea of.

What was this exactly?

She asked herself as she stared at him.

What was he doing? Why was he doing this to her?

She tried her best not to cry or break down in front of her so soon.

Saving her life, threatening all those that even dare to come close to her and at the end of the day...making everything all so confusing and suffocating it was at times so hard to breathe.

Corrine was tired, not to talk of her tumors being triggered by the memories of Ruby and so many other shameful things that had happened in her life.

When she broke away from her father to live her own life, this was not what she expected to deal with. No, this was not what she imagined everything would be without her father’s control.

Maybe her mother was indeed right.

There was really nothing out there waiting for her except being obediently by her father’s side.

One the pain had dulled to something she could withstand and the dizziness had cleared just enough to meet something otherworldly.

She said as calm and composed as ever, ’’Do you enjoy doing this to me?’’

Grim said nothing as his frown deepened on her.

What does she mean by that?

Corrine found herself sighing again, craving somewhere quiet and alone to deal with whatever was happening with her. So, she was determined to quickly get rid of this creep and have a nice, quiet time dying tonight...

She blinked at him when he said nothing.

What was she even thinking? Trying to talk and understand him first before getting rid of him completely?

’’Alright, fine,’’ She said and the door to the restaurant opened. Grim stared over her shoulder and saw that vermin stepped out to come for her again.

’’You want to remain by my side like super glue and all that. But don’t you think you are going a bit too far in making me unhappy by doing all these things to me?’’

Grim didn’t look at her. His gaze remained hard and venomously on the creature that lingered at the door, searching for her. And once he found her.

’’You have no idea how immature...’’

Corrine gasped, the words remaining unsaid as he moved her gently until she was backed against a car and positioned in a way for the human to see and understand that she belonged to no one but him.

He moved his face close enough to have their lips touching and Corrine was awakened by a pleasurable feeling she didn’t know existed or she was ever capable of feeling.

Grim looked over her shoulder as the human watched them both in horror, his hands trailing the curves of his beautiful woman lightly before curving around her waist, lowering all chances of escape as he had her cornered all to himself.

Malachi’s eyes widened a bit as he took a step before freezing at what the demon did next.

’’What are you doing?’’ She asked him when his eyes finally returned on hers before lowering on her lips. She stared at him tiredly and thought it was the pain that made her imagine that ethereal golden glow he gave her.

Grim lowered his head, tilting it until his lips found hers and moved softly against her in a way to make this night unforgettable.
