Chapter 43: Dinner Date 2
{ Nine Fifteen PM that very day.}
Corrine stepped out of her car looking far too gorgeous for what was supposed to be a casual dinner date between two people that wanted to know each other more.
Her dark green gaze fell on the restaurant in awe.
It was definitely a five star restaurant.
Corrine stared briefly, wondering if she got the address wrong or she was even in the right place. But the sight of Malachi stepping outside in a dark green suit made her wonder if he had chosen the color to match her eyes. Either way, the moment his eyes locked on her, he waved at her so enthusiastically she wondered how many times he had stepped outside just to see her.
Corrine managed a polite smile, unaware that it looked slightly awkward. She moved toward where he stood and every step she made, Malachi couldn’t help but be in awe at her figure and poise.
He knew that she was always beautiful but he didn’t expect her to look divine in that black, armless gown that fell just a few meters above her knees.
He couldn’t contain his smile.
’’Hi,’’ he said so nervously. Corrine stared briefly at the place he had invited her and Malachi was sweaty now thinking she wasn’t pleased by the place.
’’I thought it was just a casual meeting between us tonight...’’ She said, pointing at the fancy place.
Malachi grinned weirdly, feeling pressured to explain why he chose this place.
’’Well...you might find this a little bit weird but before I had the confidence to approach you I ensured I had saved just enough to secure a spot here and make our outing here much more convenient.’’
Corrine didn’t mean to give him an unimpressed expression but how was she supposed to respond to someone wasting...probably their life savings on an outing that might never interest her enough to pursue him further.
Great.
Now she will feel indebted to return the favour to him.
Her lips eased into a small smile and that was when Malachi realized he would be doing much more to impress her tonight.
’’It’s cold.’’
No...it wasn’t.
Corrine stared around feeling strange about this.
’’Shall we go in and begin?’’
She blinked when he offered her his hand and frowned slightly when there was nothing in his palm.
Malachi’s grin wavered slightly when she was yet to place her hand in his. He noticed how slightly uncomfortable she was when he brought empty hands to her face, wondering what she was supposed to do with it.
’’Pardon me,’’ Malachi said like a true prince as he slowly reached for her hand and wrapped his gently around hers. Corrine gasped at the feeling. Her eyes widened slightly at him and Malachi gave her an assuring smile that she was doing great.
Corrine’s eyes lowered on their joint hands, her lips parting, feeling slightly embarrassed to know he was asking for her hand and not trying to give her something she couldn’t see.
She let him lead them both inside the building and for one crazy moment she hoped he would never leave her hands.
It was warm and fitting. She loved the feeling it gave.
They entered the partly empty polished restaurant with soft music playing in the background.
The place was large and beautiful. It even had an open upper floor where you could see the different elegant tables arranged. A solid silver railing bordered the upper floor as a nude statue that flowed gently with water stood at the center of the place.
Malachi led them to a table he had reserved for them. She watched as he moved around quickly to pull out a chair for her, maintaining that warm and adoring smile of his as he urged her to have her seat.
Interesting.
Corrine noted as this was so different from the treatment she received from her first love. She moved and settled gently on the chair. Malachi, like a true gentleman, moved her seat until she was comfortably close to the golden table.
Corrine moved her purse, feeling strange and out of place. She watched her partner bounce happily towards his seat. He looked even more handsome now that he was right in front of her. freeweɓnovel.cøm
She tore her eyes away from him to the open walls that gave them a panoramic view of the best parts of LA.
Very romantic.
Very thoughtful.
She found herself smiling. He pulled out one of the champagne bottles chilling in the fancy ice bucket beside them and reached out to pour her a drink.
’’Thank you,’’ she said, but Malachi gave her a strange look that she didn’t need to thank him for. He was determined to take good care of her tonight and if possible for the rest of her life.
He moved his seat closer, beaming brightly at her as he watched her take a small sip of the wine. Corrine paused at the taste, looking over to Malachi in shock at the rich taste of the wine.
’’You like it?’’
Corrine nodded immediately.
’’It’s my favourite even though I don’t get to drink much of it because of the price,’’ he winked, causing Corrine to smile even more.
’’A friend of mine made me drink it as a way to reward my efforts of finally getting accepted into the college I had been chasing for three years to get into...’’ he began and she found herself leaning more on the table to listen.
A group of waiters in dark gold and black uniforms with iPads were gathered in a corner sorting out some of the reservations made for the night when the door opened.
One of the waiters turned at the entrance of a new guest. The rest followed as the guest walked in confidently and commanded the air around them. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Their eyes widened in recognition and they immediately lowered their heads to welcome him.
One of the senior waiters rushed into the scene at the sight of him and said quickly, ’’It’s a pleasure to have you here, sir. Where would you like to dine this fine evening, sir?’’
The guest ignored them as his golden gaze swept through all the empty chairs and tables inside, his hands rubbing around his left wrist impatiently until they finally locked on a table by the corner.
