Chapter 39: A Bad Thing Has Come 2

Grim moved tiredly on his king sized bed, moving one of the pillows under his head to block the annoying ringing of notifications buzzing non stop from his phone.

He sighed, giving up when the ringing wouldn’t stop, and thought about smoldering the phone into a pile of ash with his breath. He rolled lazily from his bed, still half asleep as he stared at the device made specifically to haunt his sleep.

It was still very early at almost ten am. He scratched the back of his neck, irritation growing at the disturbance. He forgot that he was now employed and had a strict boss that would eat him alive if he dared show up late on his second day.

Grim groaned, almost crying, when the device wouldn’t let him be at peace. His long hair tied up in a messy bun had a few long strands falling over his shoulders and back as he wondered how humans dealt with such annoying things. freewebnoveℓ.com

He was the Prince of hell for crying out loud. How dare a mere mortal device disrupt his beauty sleep?

Grim blinked. The sleep cleared from his eyes in an instant.

I’m sorry, but where the fuck are you?! There is a strange man here making all of us sick and uneasy. Please help.

What?

Grim tried to understand all her messages then it suddenly dawned on him that he has a place to report to this morning.

The strange man is asking for Boss!

Grim jumped to his feet, almost stumbling as he stared at the message in alarm.

If you don’t come or better yet, send help our way soon—you might never see us again.

Grim looked so overwhelmed by all the messages that flooded his DM that he wondered what to do first. Then he...

’’Azazel!!!!!’’ he cried out and the shadowed demon materialized before him in a blink.

The demon turned to find his prince moving about with one sock while looking for the other. Azazel blinked, wondering what was the emergency.

’’Your Royal Highness,’’ Azazel greeted with a bow. Grim turned to him looking relieved as well as terrified by something as he put on a robe heading quickly towards the bathroom.

’’Find me something to wear. Now!’’

How he managed to appear before Neal looking presentable and dangerous in such little time felt like a miracle.

The moment the royal prince of hell stepped in, the poisonous aura shattered beneath his arrival.

Lin, Berry and Stylie were freed by losing consciousness for a while.

Corrine’s eyes rolled to the back of her head, losing her balance. He crossed the distance fast enough to catch her before she hit the floor. His arm secured her against his chest.

His golden eyes lowered to see if she was fine. His gloved hands touched her cheeks lightly as he never let go.

He noticed the tears that rolled down her cheeks as she leaned on him. He moved his thumb lightly on her cheek to get rid of it.

Neal stood frozen and for the first time he stared at something much greater than him.

He was shaken at the sight of something his ancestors had always believed to be a mere myth. A story about some forbidden fruit.

The devil’s forbidden fruit with golden eyes and beauty beyond all understanding.

Perfection in mortal flesh and the root of all sin.

Neal found himself staring in awe as that living entity held his daughter like she was the most fragile and the most important thing in his existence.

How was this even possible?

Neal blinked.

’’Anais,’’ the creature called worriedly when she was still yet to respond to him.

It doesn’t matter. A strange darkness clouded the mind of the reptilian as he stared coldly at the Prince Of Hell, holding his daughter.

Grim’s hold around her tightened, his free hand placed protectively on her face as his eyes turned sharply at the new threat.

Neal moved back, being slightly cautious of something that might be much greater than him.

’’How dare you,’’ Grim said, staring at the monster before him in disbelief. His anger grew as he imagined all the horrible things he might have done to her before he came.

’’That is my daughter you’re holding, you beast.’’

Daughter?

Grim blinked before his eyes returned to the woman safe in his arms. All the more reason he felt so protective of her.

’’Give her back to me. And I might consider giving you a painless death.’

’’I am not giving her away to a backwater demon,’’ Grim’s face hardened enough to show his displeasure for the reptilian. He was probably one of the descendants of the reptilians his father once sent on a special mission to kill and destroy some parts of this world.

And it was that part that annoyed him the most. A lousy demon with no unique qualities, with an ancestral background of once being beggars on the ash-covered streets of Hell.

’’Death isn’t a worthy punishment for what you’ve done.’’

Maybe he could take the pleasure of locking him up while picking his bones and keeping him alive forever as he did so.

It could be a great thing to relax.

Whenever he was excited, angry, sad or bored...the sound of his agony and his flesh being torn apart thread by thread is a great source of entertainment.

Soon, a figure materialized out of thin air beside the reptilian. Grim watched the demon rise to his full height and Neal thought it would be best to suspend the greetings for now. There will be another day to take pleasure in knowing each other better.

Neal smiled, moving until he stood beside Anarak, straightening his maroon colored suit and said, ’’For now, we just barely introduced each other. I will be more than delighted to have His Royal Highness visit us soon at an appointed time,’’ then he moved his head in what resembled a polite bow.

Grim then figured the demon was just being absurd. But he didn’t fail to notice the way the reptilian stared at his love. He made a mental note to firstly pluck those eyes out at the appointed time.

’’Until then,’’ Neal said, before disappearing with Anarak, leaving Grim with the feeling to do better in protecting her and everything that mattered to him from all absurdities.
