Chapter 26: You Are A Monster My Son

Two loud bangs echoed, breaking the silence.

Corrine froze when a strange feeling took over her body for the first time.

An unusual warmth spread from her back to her front. Her gaze moved to her abdomen at the sticky sensation she felt and gold blood trickled down the bloodied hole, making a mess of her dress.

It took her several long seconds for her to understand what had just happened. The ringing in her head lingered.

Marcus Laundry gasped, eyes wide in horror at what he had just done.

The three inches short gun clasped in a tight grip, pointed at the seductress in red. The one who just ruined his life.

’’Gather all your best lawyers and let’s meet in court next week!’’

Marcus shuddered, already haunted mentally by those words.

Monique Irene Laundry wasn’t the one who spat out empty threats. Especially when angered by the one person she rose from the slums and made into what he was today.

He remembered the grey-colored folder and realized what it was. He couldn’t believe someone was determined to drag his whole life down the drain for the single file.

’’You are not walking out of this alive.’’

Marcus cried out and fired more bullets towards the seductress.

He didn’t care if she died from it. After all, this wasn’t the first person he had successfully gotten rid of. His original plan was to shoot the one who threatened to take everything from him simply because she owned him and caught him ’’having an affair.’’

Hell, he never liked that psychopath in the first place. The only reason he remained her husband was because of the various connections she provided him.

But she had walked out on him so quickly, not even giving him a chance to explain himself! He was boiling, hating on himself and wanted desperately for someone to feel the brunt of his anger.

But one thing about this seductress frightened him.

She was taking forever to collapse on the floor and bleed to death.

’’Ah...’’ he gasped, his eyes looking grotesque in the partly lit room as the multiple holes he drilled with silver bullets in her body healed. Closing like some invisible moving zipper on a bag. freēwebnovel.com

He fired again.

Corrine gasped, dropping to her knees, holding on to the nearest chair for support as the brave rat behind her fired again on a freshly healed wound.

This time, her body gave out as more blood trickled down her body, refusing to heal this time.

Corrine gritted her teeth.

Damn this mortal body.

Her hold on the chair tightened as dark clouds made the night sky a terrifying abyss. Gorgeous, golden slit shaped eyes glowed in the dark as she pulled herself on her feet, her palms pressed tightly on the wound of her abdomen.

Impossible!

Crick. Crick. Crick. There were no more silver bullets to fire anymore at this enigma.

’’Fine,’’ She turned around, facing her attacker with a blood-cold stare. Marcus screamed and fell back into his chair at the eyes that locked on his. Lightning tore across the sky, making the moment even more ominous. They were terrifying but none could compare with those eyes.

’’You really want to die,’’ Corrine dipped her hand inside her wound and pulled out the silver bullet. ’’But remember that you asked for it.’’

Marcus was too scared to understand her threat.

’’Rest well in Hell while you wait for my return.’’

What followed next was....

A soft ding of the elevator in the ground floor caught the attention of the crowd waiting at the receptionist desk and lingering about, making calls and plans for tomorrow’s grind.

It was the President’s private elevator. A receptionist looked over her desk wondering why the Boss was coming down now when it wasn’t time for him to leave yet.

The silver doors of the metallic tube pulled apart like curtains and a tense silence settled across the entire ground floor.

Nobody said anything.

No one blinked.

No one breathed.

Blood pooled across the polished floor. There was blood at every inch inside the silver tube as a pair of dead eyes stared lazily from the opened tube.

The ones brave enough slowly gathered looking for a body. But there was none.

Only the head of Marcus Ivan Laundry remained as proof he had ever existed and a testimony of his brutal departure from this world.

One receptionist stumbled backward, convulsing in horror. Another turned away to vomit her gut and one screamed.

The scream broke the tense silence and triggered the next wave of chaos.

In the chaos, a figure moved in the background. Barefooted and covered in blood from head to toe.

A single grey-colored folder in his hands as he moved in the crowd, heading for the door.

’’You are a monster my son. You shouldn’t have been born. You are a forbidden fruit. One that shouldn’t have existed to show of my betrayal to God and Adam.’’

Grim moved, remembering as tears trickled down his face and stained his bloodied lips.

’’No matter what,’’ Lilith grabbed his small hands, shoving a small, fanged shaped blade in his hands. He remembered looking up at his mother with tears in his eyes wondering what sort of gift this was. A gift so sharp and dangerous, it could harm him one day. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

’’You shall remain in Eden. Don’t ever come back to Hell. There is no future for you in heaven, on earth and even in Hell unless you remain hidden in that tree forever.’’

He never understood what that meant even now.

’’And, when it gets too hard and unbearable, you can take this and place it on your heart and you shall be completely free from the pain.’’

Grim paused, his leg making bloodied footprints behind him as he tried to understand again.

Litlh then knelt before her son. Her wine colored hair blowing fearlessly in the wind as she stared up at him with a teary gaze.

’’No one can truly love a forbidden fruit. Even I can’t. Your father can’t even look at you. So, the best thing you can do is to hide your existence forever. Don’t look for me and almost certainly, don’t look for love.’’

He sat curled up in a corner, letting the rain wash off the blood of Marcus Ivan Laundry completely from him. His golden eyes staring at the grey-colored folder floating before him in a protective golden bubble to prevent the rain from destroying.

His only hope of getting close to her and maybe winning her affection someday.

The sky rumbled again as different vehicles filled with paramedics and police officers...Grim stared up at the sky as multiple choppers flew above him nonstop.

Everyone hates the forbidden fruit.

He thought sadly as he remained in the rain not encouraged to move from that spot. Hoping to die and maybe turn to a stone and remain that way until the end of time.

’’Grim!’’

The rain poured like sheets, beating against the graveled highways and blocks.

’’Grim! Grim!!’’

His eyes flickered to the opposite side of the road and watched as two familiar faces called out to him repeatedly, rushing over with dark umbrellas over their heads as they ran.

The gold in his gaze disappeared followed by a lovely pair of adoring brown eyes.

His bloodied lips easing to a smile at the sight of his friends.

They reached him and quickly opened an umbrella and Lin used it to cover him. They huddled close to him in concern, checking his body for any injuries.

’’Oh, my god, are you alright? Are you hurt? Do we need to take you to the hospital?!’’ Berry said, eyes wide in concern and he did nothing but to stare at her.

To stare at them.

Lin quickly picked up the grey colored folder already drowning in a pool of rainwater. He carefully opened the wet pages and sighed in relief when the damages done were mild.

’’Are you sure...?’’ Berry asked again when he nodded that he was fine. He had entrusted them with bringing Monique Laundry from her hotel to this place and they didn’t fail him.

The plan was a success. He should reward them with something later.

They helped him up and led him carefully across the street and amid the chaos. They helped him get settled and comfortable at the backseat of the car as they settled quickly in front.

He smiled when Berry stared at him worriedly from the rearview mirror. They can’t see the wound taking forever to heal because he blinded them the moment they came close.

He would hate his friends finding out about him in this way and he dreaded what they would think of him.

’’Where to?’’ Berry asked, while starting the car. Lin focused on drying out the wet papers in the conditioned car.

Grim leaned more on the leather seat, letting his eyes close before opening them slowly before telling them where he wished to be.
